  1. Quotas in 50kg: Quotas in 53kg:
  2. Seema starts of against Stadnik in Rd of 16. If she wins against Stadnik (not happening), next up could be RUS. And Stadnik needs to defeat Sun/Irie in Semifinals to pull Seema in repechage, where she will have to defeat Nigeria and Russia to get quota. Quota chance is there. A fresh Stadnik should be favourite in semifinal specially in case of a energy sapping quarterfinal between Sun and Irie. Vinesh starts against Sophie Mattsson in Qualifiers. Next could be Mukaida in Rd of 16 and Sarah Hildebrandt in Quarters. Winner of this quarter should be favourite in Semis so once again chance is there in Repechage. But, very tough draw.
  3. Volleyball. We have reached Round 2 of the ongoing Asian Men's Volleyball Championships, hence qualifying for the Asian Olympic Qualifiers to be held in January
  4. Just checked the schedule, 130kg is indeed day after tomorrow with draw taking place tomorrow. I checked the Arena website for the draw. Over there they have listed just these 4 athletes in 130kg in Bracket, Entry List, Ranking and even in Participants Table. Sorry for the alarm.
  5. Draws for tomorrow are out. Interestingly, we have our first batch of qualified wrestlers. There are only 4 wrestlers in 130kg : RUS, USA, KOR and EST. I don't know what happened to rest? All failed the weight? Also, since there were 6 quotas on offer here, will the remaining 2 quotas be added to final qualification tournament? P.S. @MHSN Heiki Nabi's luck strikes again.
  6. I think number of athletes with MQS is good to compare smaller nations. At the top, it means nothing. For example, in the recently concluded Indian trials 347 shooters shot more than 595, MQS for 10m Air Rifle. Even considering that not all of them will be able to replicate this performance in international competition, 300 of them shot more than 605. Out of these 300 capable of getting MQS, only 14 have MQS. I am sure there will be similar situation for all the top nations.

  8. Other events are barely surviving because of double starters. A shooter proficient in 50 Rifle Prone can still take part in 50x3. Similarly, in Pistol also, there was a decent amount of shooters doing the double of 50m and 10m. I blame ISSF more regarding the death of Double Trap. They could have kept the three dropped events in their WC and ensured that those events don't die. But with ISSF also dropping those events from WC, what incentive do the shooters have to continue to pursue those events? Other events can still have decent fields but Double Trap is the worst hit.
  9. "Following an in-depth security review of the current situation in Pakistan by independent expert security advisors, the Davis Cup Committee has taken the decision to postpone the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group I tie between Pakistan and India in Islamabad, due to be played on 14-15 September. "The Committee concluded that this is an exceptional circumstance while the first priority of the ITF is the safety and security of athletes, officials and spectators. "The tie has been rescheduled for November, with the exact dates to be confirmed by the Committee no later than 9 September. The ITF will continue to monitor the situation in Pakistan and the Davis Cup Committee will re-convene to re-examine the security situation in advance of the tie." Source

  11. TBH, names don’t matter. It is not amazing that Apurvi/Anjum finished without medals. What is heartening is cutoff for final in 10m Air Rifle men in nationals was 627.3 just 0.6 behind cutoff for final in Rio WC. Even in 10m Air Rifle Women, 6 shooters were higher than 628.3 cutoff at Rio WC.
  12. Team A wins Games 1,2,3 and 7 of NBA finals by 1 point each. Team B wins Games 4,5 and 6 by 100 points each. Who is the NBA champion?
  13. If in a tennis match, player A wins 3 sets 7-6 while player B wins 2 sets 6-0, who according to you is the real winner? Player A or player B?
  14. Who said Women are not there? Also, there are 10 categories here and not just 8 Olympic categories. So, in all 30 categories. Plus, each weight class schedule spread over 2 days resulting in a slightly longer tournament.

  16. Dharun is not fully fit and there is no clarity if he will take part in only relays or will participate in hurdles as well. Regarding PB/NR, except Annu Rani and Jinson Johnson, I don't think anyone else is even close to breaking NR at present. Really sad state of affairs.
  17. Yes all three relay teams have qualified for WCs. But, I don’t have any hopes from them considering the lacklustre form of our quarter milers
  18. Netherlands is much much much better team. It should qualify easily.
  19. Even this video is from India. Bengaluru, to be precise.
  20. We will have to wait for one of the oribiters orbiting the moon to send back photos of the lander to ascertain how much damage Vikram took. Also, Vikram is only designed to be operational for one lunar day. So, time to make contact is running out. Personally, I don't think we would be able to make contact with it now.
  21. Quite satisfied with the draw. Men's team should win easily against Russia, even while trying things. Its good that we avoided Pakistan otherwise the political side would have overshadowed the hockey. The key team to avoid for Women's team was Belgium and we were lucky to avoid them. USA was among the top teams till some time back but at present are on a downward spiral. At home, we should be able to eke out a win against them.
  22. Pot 2 vs Pot 3 vs vs vs vs
  23. Indian Men's team will face off against Russia to qualify for Olympics.
