  1. A lot comes down to the presenation. Anything can be sold. I remember liking Yodel It! at the very first, before being told that it is no good.
  2. It would have been shocking if such acts stopped passing at Eurovision.
  3. This is the same thing as Russia. Always blah blah, but the IOC will not have the spine to do anything. Boxing will survive (and under AIBA, one way or another).
  4. To have a proper race? I assume you haven't watched much of Laser, but there are races when people in medal positions suddenly find themselves at the bottom of the 40 crews. Then the drama starts as every position can start to count. Happens every Olympics. Besides, it's the most widespread class.
  5. So i guess nothing changed for the continental spots? You can still earn them for free? Man, sailing is really pushing it. They are the first federation with universality qualifier + universality invitations, and of course the useless continental spots. No wonder the federation is on the edge of bankruptcy.
  6. So today I ran my first 5k in 36:47. It's nothing nothing to write home about, nevertheless it's a decent prep for a local B2Race next month for which I have entered. It's a team race, and there is no doubt that I will be one of the discard scores. But hey, maybe I'll get to pick a medal for somebody else's work, in a true business style!
  7. It's interesting how our own Russophiles (including the sad excuse that is our president) can go from 60 to 0 in a blink of an eye. Orban's victory was celebrated, but now they are all dead silent following Orban's yet another tantrum about Rijeka.
  8. There are more stuff left to update, but here are the updated all-time Grand Final and Team Challenge medal tables. Spain became the 24th nation to get onto the podium, and 12th to win. Ireland did two birds with one stone. They picked up the only missing color for both Grand Final (silver) and Team Challenge (bronze). No nation has won their first team medal in Hungary. We are still at 43 all-time.
  9. Winner of the Nations Cup Final will qualify for the Paris Olympics. So far, have qualified for the Final via the Middle East qualifier. North American League is in progress. Top 2 will qualify. got eliminated at the first event in Mexico. This likely means no Final for them, unless allow it with their own elimination at the other qualifier. https://inside.fei.org/NationsCup/Nations_Cup_Standings_NACAC.pdf is leading the Euroasian League. https://inside.fei.org/system/files/Eurasian_League_Nations_Cup_Ranking_2022_01.pdf European Leagues are yet to start.
  10. Looks like they have disabled points farming on small-time races. Only the top tier races will count. To be honest, Brazil was not really the frontrunner in the points farming department. Some other nations will suffer much more (and consequently will fail to qualify this time around).
  11. It's just how it is for the reasons of fairness. You might as well ask - Why are there offsides in football?
  12. Awesome. You were spot-on for Malta and Ukraine.
  13. Maybe a little harsh, but wouldn't be half bad if Slovaks were to beat the Czechs for a change.
  14. Team format has been a success. The winning team has only one Top 10 finisher (DEN 9th). Others were all just consistent even if not spectacular. Often we see teams getting carried away by one dominant member.
  15. Remember all those times Slovakia used to sweep the Czechoslovak Trophy just by showing up? Yeah, me neither.
  16. J'en Suis La Award - Hungary (20th --> 6th) - the nation who gained most places in the second half of the Grand Final - Passionfruit Award - Israel (Standard Deviation: 1.50) - the nation who scored the most consistent points - STOP THE COUNT! Award - Great Britain (Last Lead: 71.8% votes in (28/39)) - the last non-winning leader -
  17. Congratulations to Spain. Nice to have a new winner, and once again a non-English song taking the title. But that's about it from my perspective. Records show that Terra placed 26th in my first listen. Ranks in the first listen have little significance, but then in the second listen it placed 30th (last). I don't remember what happened exactly, but I imagine we did not click at all. Not that Croatian votes are consequential. We have failed to award points to winners more often than not. Great to see Gavin taking the silver. My favorite song of the contest. Sheeran made the podium with his version of an engaging beat as well. Liked them both. Failed to mention it earlier, but my reserves were .
  18. Pecs Scholars win the team bronze for the ages. Literally would not happen without the Indonesian sudden gold. They would placed 9th without it and failed to make it to the bronze medal contest.
  19. Man, I feel really bad for Mexico. I was pulling for them. It would have been the first Top 10 in many editions. Plus it is the song which grew on me the most after the voting deadline...
  20. I fear it will be Hungary. Like a knife into Mexico's stomach...
  21. Thank you @hckošice for this lovely bronze. Always nice to end the contest on a positive note. Seems to happen more often than not!
  22. No way. We get to see the Slovak thumbnail after all.
  23. Thank you. First gold medal in while. Let's go with that.
  24. No. Minimum PPJ now stands at 4.21, and that's assuming none of the remaining juries votes for Spain. @Werloc gets to keep his fancy record.
