  1. They couldn't even say which of these nations will be in which category... http://www.aiba.org/blog/olympic-games-tripartite-commission-confirms-five-invitation-places-mens-rio-2016-boxing-competition/
  2. Ukraine's list of potential Olympic horses has been narrowed down apparently, but they still have enough to make a team in Rio. But, if nothing else, this hopefully means the end of Ukrainian international jumping team, as they lost their main investor... http://www.worldofshowjumping.com/en/News/Ukraine-narrows-Olympic-alternatives-following-Schockemoehle-purchase.html
  3. Ghana apparently qualified women's 4x100m relay.
  4. You never know when drug deal with guns might occur in the Olympic village. And here's the link, reasoning is actually explained in the audio clip below.
  5. Spolied golfers continue to impress with their zika hysteria. Anyway, they should be ashamed of themselves and should look at Australian equestrians and what problems they are having. Because of the strict Australian quarantine laws, horses that visit Brazil have to stay in a glanders-free countries (North America or Europe) for six months before they can return to Australia (as if zika and superbug aren't enough, we also have glanders for horses in Brazil, but very marginal...). So basically their Olympic sacrifices would last until February 2017 if they get selected for Australian team. And yet none of the athletes pulled out of the selection trials even though they are well aware of the laws...
  6. Fiji NOC has decided that they will not attend the Closing Ceremony (they will return home before). These are the reasons for that decision: "One of the most dangerous countries in the World, as far as drug is concerned, as far as gun on the street is concerned." "Health issue of Zika and "super" bug, and also malaria, yellow fever..."
  7. There was a special OST athletes tracker in 2012 but still nothing this time (even though qualification system said otherwise). Coverage of Olympic qualifications has been below par by a number of federations...
  8. No, being an Olympic host is not the same. Brazil's host quotas were regulated by qualification documents. Meanwhile, there is no rule saying that hosts of qualification tournaments have to compete. Monaco hosted rugby sevens tournament without their team, Mexico hosted taekwondo tournament in which they couldn't compete. Mexican taekwondo players didn't suddenly become eligible to earn more quotas (just like Russia became here). So Russia was set as the host long time ago, just like Japan in indoor volleyball. We know who controls FIVB.
  9. France finally doesn't win at home, don't know what's their exact record.
  10. Estrogen is taking over
  11. Dafne now only needs to improve her hurdles in order to repeat Fanny Blankers-Koen.
  12. This is completely different to being the host of boxing, wrestling... Nations had to qualify for this (by finishing 2nd or 3rd in continental cups). Russian men's team did that, but women's didn't. And just because Turkey cheated their way to basketball tournament, that doesn't justifies this.
  13. According to this, Papua New Guinea also received boxing wild card. So 3 out of 5 boxing wild cards went to Oceania.
  14. Russia didn't even qualify in women's for this, so they shouldn't have participated. But that's FIVB for you and their gifts for the hosts. Just like in 2012 Russia had to host the final tournament.
  15. Looks like Fiji received wild card for men's boxing. That's an additional athlete and sport for them. They have 10 sports now. http://fijivillage.com/sport/Hill-to-represent-Fiji-boxing-at-Rio-Olympics-5r2s9k/
  16. None of their women's relay teams are in qualification position (unlike men's). So I don't see them declining a relay in which they actually qualified.
  17. In 2008 and before there were A and B standards. They accepted all entries what resulted in going over quota limit. Since 2012 they want to stay inside the quota limit and that's why they changed the qualification system... But there should be more quotas...
  18. 4 people in 0.01s!!!!!
  19. Wow, amazing finish.
  20. Many teams will have smallest teams ever. Hopefully they'll add more swimming quotas for Tokyo.
  21. 4:33 winning time in women's 1500m
  22. First ever medal for Albania.
  23. Looks like no. To be fair, he hasn't done anything in like two years.
  24. Kristijan Đurasek and Matija Kvasina, according to this.
