the whole idea of the internet shutdown was to not let people contact each other and plan for organized protests. so I really don't know much about other cities/provinces , I mean confirmed news, rumors are everywhere. I live in a big city 20 minutes away from Tehran, since I work in Tehran beside my own town I only know about the capital which was relatively quiet. (mostly because middle class people weren't much involved in these protests) but we hear some horrific not-confirmed news. specially about Kurdish and Arabic speaking provinces. I'm sure more news and videos will come out soon in next few days. one thing is for sure the death toll is much higher than 106 reported by amnesty international. 200 or 300 maybe.

and I don't think luck alone can do much, people here are facing devil from both inside and outside of the country.

Yeah, I imagine it could prove to be an issue if he makes it to the Olympics, especially since India is already assured of qualification...

Interestingly, that horse was previously named "Here To Stay", but then earlier this year Khan changed it to "Azad Kashmir"... For a price of 1,000 CHF. You can check the horse's history here.

Things are slowly getting back to "normal" (if we can call it normal) here and the internet is getting connected slowly in some cities which wasn't involved in the protests. not for me though, I'm still using my tricks and where I live (which is usually a very quiet neighborhood) will be one of the last places to get reconnected. but I assume it will happen tomorrow or Saturday.

it's 5 days (and still counting) without the global internet (only access to local websites) I watched lots of TV channels, (I have most of major international news channels, BBC, CNN, Euronews) and they didn't cover much about this. but now with the internet getting connected again, I assume we will see more of horrible videos. I had seen those kind of protests in Iran twice (2009 and 2017) but this one was really violent, from both sides.but of course only one side had guns and they were brutal at least in some cities. For the first time in my life I didn't leave the house when I wanted because it wasn't safe outside, I think it was Sunday or Monday.

These scars will remain for a long time and those in power should learned by now they are not facing peaceful protesters like 2009 (or as we call it 88) and since the economical situation won't get any better because of the sanctions we will see more in future. actually what happened this week (including the internet shutdown) cost country a lot financially and made things worse. but who cares, dictators want to remain in power at any cost. but the biggest loser here is Rouhani himself. people voted for him hoping he is different but in a situation like this he showed his true color.

btw politics in Iran is a dead end, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I really can't see a solution, maybe only when "this guy" dies the whole system changes since there is nobody to replace him (at least not right now)

no I'm not worried about beating Hong Kong. Iran is just good in beating those kind of teams. they are small and can't match the physical play of Iran.

but Bahrain is a different story. Bahrain itself is not good in beating minor teams. they even struggled against Cambodia ! but when they want to defend they are tough to beat. and they will park the bus against Iran, we have some very bad memories against Bahrain. and we also have to play Iraq at home. and it doesn't matter if they are already qualified before that match, they always play against Iran like their lives are depend on that.

the only positive outcome today was everybody realized the danger, Iran will be more prepared next time. what happened here is unbelievable. they just packed and came to Amman without training at home. their first training session was in Amman and that's when our genius coach found out some of his starters are slightly injured and can't play !!!! and it was supposed to be our most important match.

he sounds like a nice guy. and everybody liked him during the Worlds. and nobody knew him before the World Championship and he was a 96kg weightlifter but had to move up weight because of the stupid Rostami because 96kg was already "full" and that turned out to be a good chance and he won a medal at 102kg !

Also, World Cup Final this year. Not sure about Olympic Games Test Event.

I think so. We must also keep in mind that past scores are not as valuable as recent ones. A good performance in a recent World Cup can easily improve your ranking by a lot.

I was looking for results of "Galeb Belgrade Trophy" in Serbia because the whole Iranian squad is there, while watching the live results I saw something very surprising, a familiar name, former World and Asian Games champion Mehdi Khodabakhshi but not for Iran, he is representing Serbia !

he was off the radar in past few months, so after a little search it seems he is married to a Serbian girl ! (former Serbia NT member Tanackovic) I'm not sure if he can represents Serbia in official tournaments anytime soon because he was participating for Iran a year ago. and if I'm not wrong he even tried his chance in Iranian nationals few months ago but he got injured and withdrew (and he was upset our coach didn't give him a second chance) this is kind of funny because Milad Beigi left Iran because of him !! even though I know this is a different case and this is not for money.

I wonder if this is a permanent change for Khodabakhshi or this is just temporary for this tournament ?!

Taekwondo wasn't part of the European Games. so this is an EXTRA European Championship to make up for that in the World Ranking. in short this is not a real European Championship but a very important tournament for the World Ranking with 40pts up for grab for the gold medalists.

and one can say if European Taekwondo Union can't or don't want to put taekwondo into the European Games maybe they don't deserve to have a Grade-4 tournament instead.

I was expecting Sajan to make it to the final. but his poor defense in par terre cost him the final. he will be huge favorite for the bronze. not sure if you watched the 55kg IND/RUS but your wrestler was leading 12-9 until the last 20-30 seconds. he was very impressive in that match but still for winning the bronze he has to beat 2 very good wrestlers, I don't think that happens. for Sunil it will be even harder.

from what I noticed, India is a very bad matchup for Russia ! even when Russia wins, they have to work really hard for that. Indian wrestlers are great in making their opponents tired but I can see all of your Greco wrestlers are weak in defending parterre and that will be costly against top wrestlers. 1 caution is enough for a Russian wrestler to beat you 8-0. unlike freestyle, parterre is VERY important in Greco. Sajan dominated the Japanese guy but when they gave him a passivity caution (which was dubious) the Japanese easily scored a 4pts throw. I mean really easily.

I assume they weren't interested. Olympic Qualification is different than continental Championships. those without chance aren't usually interested

there is also possible for Iran to withdraw.

PS: in the men's tournament, they replaced Pakistan with the next team Kazakhstan, so I think they offered that to the next team here too.

There's always the Pan American Games (or the CAC Games) and the Asian Games (also the SEA Games for Malaysia).

I have to say I see no reason for the CWG to exist. It's very embarrassing to watch so many nations playing along by letting an old woman claim to be their queen. I mean, the British invaded their territories, stole natural resources, enslaved and killed a bunch of people, forced the survivors to learn their language and centuries later they want everybody to celebrate by playing lawn bowls.
