  1. thanks Bro .... great feedback ... our best chances sunil in 87 Kgs and Gurpreet in 77 ( with gyanender in 60 and harpreet in 97 as long shots ) ....in fact we have another wrestler Sajjan in 77 who is also great ( twice junior world medallist - silver in 2018 ) who I really believe has it to be the best Indian Greco wrestler since pappu yadav ... he is still 19 only ( came a close 5th in the under 23 worlds in 2019 ) Incidently Pappu yadav and kartar singh may be the last few greco roman wrestlers of India who defeated Iranian wrestlers ( Kartar way back in 1983 ( in the final of 100 Kg asian championship ) and early 1990s pappu yadav did win a couple of gold medals at the asian level. That was 40 or so years back
  2. prannoy loses ....... I am a bit frustrated with badminton currently ....none of the men seem to improving I was hoping that one of them would also move into the top 10 along with Srikanth and create the dynamics like the women but unfortunately prannoy , sai or sameer seem to be able to move to the next level
  3. was very suprised that india got 4 medals in greco ......we were pathetic only won one match in 2018 worlds and were nowhere in asian games ....... what was the reason this time ? .......... 3 ( 2 silvers and a bronze ) out of 4 were in olympic weights so that was very encouraging also ....... in fact we had done suprisingly well in the juniors in 2018 also ...... so something is changing though none of them have graduated to the seniors .... though sajjan came close to a medal in the u23 worlds
  4. thanks was looking for this
  5. well for the last 5 asian wrestling events( between 2014-2018 ) we have got between 5-10 medals at the asian wrestling event ........ in 2018 we got just 8 medals This time we got 16 ....... the best we have ever done ...... well I cannot comment for you but for me that is a great achievement ...... Greco this is the best we have ever done by far in Asia in Greco - last year we got just 2 medals ..... this year we got 4 medals (and 3 silvers ) so again this is a good achievement ...I think the team did really well ...I would like to see Sajjan come into the squad but he is in 77 kgs so Gurjeet did very well ....... also possibly vijay from the juniors .............. are only real weakness then will be in the super heavy freestyle was brilliant 1G, 3S and 4B..I am glad we have some really good new names .... deepak punia has come up from the juniors and vicky is also very young..... both did brilliantly for their first championship ..... also satyawrats return after 4 years is again great news ....... with Bajrang and rahul and sumit , I feel we have a strong team ....... I think sandeep tomar was the only person who may have to fight to get into this high profile team and I do not know what sushil will do ? ........but freestyle team looks good for the world champs and I feel they may do well ......... possibly with only these two changes ............... Women was the only area I felt a little disappointed .......last year we had 1G , 1S and 2B .....from there to get 4B was disappointing ..... to be fair vinesh and Divya were returning from injuring and ritu leaving wrestling so the team was a bit unstable but still I expected better from Navjot , Pooja and possibly some new names in the higher wieght categories ,,,,,, also i agree vinesh should be in 50 kgs and not 53
  6. India also in the mixed rifle event I think
  7. overall in the major events this week we seem to have done well - this is a good start to the olympic qualification season ISSF world cup 3-1-0 and leading the pack at least for this event Asian wrestling championship 1-6-9 and I think we did very well especially in greco and freestyle ...... we were in the top bracket at least in the overall medal tally Asian Boxing 2-4-7 and especially well across the board ...... This despite Vikas and Mary kom not being there ........ we lead on total medals especially nice to see Shiva back , kavinder fought brilliantly . I think fine tuning
  8. harsheel wins the mens singles in BWF Dutch International Open 2019
  9. 288 kgs is not huge in the 67 kilos but i think that this is a pb and an improvement of over 15 kgs on his gold medal youth olympics perf ..... so really ? ....... and he is just 16 ...... i think a huge prospect but for 2024
  10. by the bye where is the link to each countries world championship medal tally...... I remember seeing this and then just dont seem to be seeing the link
  11. saina moves into the semis at the indonesian masters ...thats great
  12. Well our home event ...... we have been doing well at juniors ....... so hoping for good results here ...... expecting medals from........... magnificent mary kom , sonia lather...... home advantage may work for us in the heavier non olympic categories ... so just may 3-4 medals
  13. Nice to see subhankar coming up well
  14. So womens squad 50 Kgs - Vinesh - definate medal hope 53 Kgs - Ritu or Babita phogat - definitely should qualify- both are high quality wrestlers 57 - Pooja Dhandha - should qualify she has improved a lot 63 - sakshi or ritu malik - sakshi showed a return to form and ritu placed 5th 68 - Divya Kakran - should also qualify ( navjot has also done well but has been there for ages without great success and divya is just 18 so should improve a lot ) 76 - is weak probably Kiran is the best bet still hopefully we can have 5 qualifiers Mens FS squad 57 kilograms/125.4 pounds - Sandeep tomar ( if amit kumar comes back from injury , I still feel he has a chance ) 65 kilograms/143 pounds; - Bajrang 74 kilograms/163 pounds; Sushil can still qualify if he comes to some form and there seems no one in that weight category 86 kilograms/183 pounds; deepak punia from the juniors ( silver at the junior worlds ) should be given a chance i feel 97 kilograms/213 pounds; satyawrat ????- he had class but again seems to have faded a bit ( but I think is much younger that khatri ) 125 kilograms/275 pounds. Sumit greco roman 60 - Vijay silver from the juniors I think is still the best bet 77 - junior wolrd silver medallist - Sajan 87- harpreet - needs to move up from 82 which is not that easy 97 - hardeep
  15. In fact very happy with the womens wrestling team ...... for the olympics we should be having a good squad 48 Kg - Vinesh 53 - Possibly Ritu Phogat if she can transition 58 - Pooja dhanda 63 - Sakshi who seems to be coming back or Ritu Malik who finished 5th here 69 - Divya Kakran so that seems a really good squad for 5 of the 6 events unfortunately our mens freestyle does not seem to have a good squad other than Punia ( and to some extant Sumit ) ...... I do not think sushil may be back , amit is injured for the last 3 years , pancham is banned ..........
  16. Curious why the lowest womens weight category in this event was 50 kg , while the lowest olympic category is 48 Kgs ?????
  17. pooja wins a bronze ....great news from wrestling ......2nd medal
  18. overall good week for badminton i felt .....saina seems back and this finals should push her ranking up ...also the hellas wins though only a international series is a good boost for some of the minor doubles pairing
  19. I think the coach came back at the end of the bout and continued his obnoxious behavior by giving him the flag even before the bout was announced
  20. abdurakhmanov was really running in circles really really fast made the turk dizzy ...... great strategy
  21. yes chamizo really is a star of the future ....jordan is multiple times world champion I think and he just had to use all his experience to hod off chamizo
  22. but maaan that was exciting
  23. the russain coach i thought would start another wrestling bout himself
