  1. love the freestyle bouts .....so exciting ........ will be bored when greco starts
  2. BAJRANG reaches final of world championships in the 65 Kgs ...... he becomes the first indian to win two medals in the world wrestling championship to join the 2013 bronze he won in the 60kgs
  3. great job by Bajrang defeating valdes in a narrow match to reach the finals of the 65Kg .....it will be against takuto so he has a reasonable chance for a gold ....... That would be third time in history we have an Indian in a world championship final ....... sushil won indias only gold in 2010 ........ also bajrang becomes the only Indian wrestler to win 2 wrestling medals at the world championship
  4. quick counter points Just did a quick check on US performance at the Junior level - They do really well at the junior level too .. In the junior swimming they were world number 1 and in junior atheletics no 3 ......not very different from how they are the senior level ...... Look juniors you need to look over 5-10 period .......you would have good performers over this period obviously the pool also expand , let us say you win 25 medals this year and then after 4-5 years another crop of juniors win another 25 medals , your pool of players becomes 50 ( because you have two groups of 25 different juniors ) then in ratio of 5:1 you would still get 10 seniors I think the juniors in shooting may not be ready for the seniors so quickly , it is diffciult to go to your first olympic and win a medal even abhinav had to go through 3 olympics i think before he won a gold...... so i think they may win quotas but medals I doubt ..................... when I said juniors in shooting were not conducted regularly ............................till recently they were conducted every 4 years actually.............................. and it is difficult to measure junior performance by that as if you have a 15 year old in one tournament by the next he may have already gone beyond the age limit and he does not get a chance to perform Of course I agree with one point that finally senior performance matters ,........ and each good junior needs to graduate successfully to the senior level ...........but there may some sudden upsurges at the senior level also ( especially with army shooters coming in not thru the juniors but through army selection . but I think we should be very happy with the recent uptick in junior performance because only then will you get good seniors ..........and that was my thought but these juniors will be ready in only 5-6 years and not 1-2 years barring possibly one or two shooters
  5. First I was referring to world championship medals and not youth olympic medals Second you cannot produce good senior results without good junior results , Please show me any country which dominates senior world championships/ olympics in a sport who does not do well at the junior level in that sport , so junior results are a precursor to senior results .....and hence to Olympic results. so it is critical to do well at junior level first ..... Third I do appreciate the point that the juniors are in 2-3 year time frame while the seniors have a 10 year time frame , so the indian team needs to do consistently well ( produce 24 medals consistently at least for 6-10 years to get that level of senior / olympic performance )...... also from the 4-5 junior players 1 or 2 senior players may come ..... so every junior player may not become a good senior player but almost every great senior player was a great junior player ........ check it out Sania - Junior World championship Gold Sindhu - Junior world championship silver Yogeshwar - cadet world champion in wrestling 1999 lodz Sushil - Cadet world champion in wrestling 1999 lodz shooting unfortunately the junior championships were not regularly conducted till recently so from the crop of great junior players over a 5-6 competitions you would get 1 great senior level player especially in sports like wrestling or boxing
  6. India Panwar wins silver !!!!
  7. Well look at facts ......Currently and I counted just as of now we have world junior championship medals in the following sports ( in olympic categories removing non olympic ) Shooting - 9 - 2018 ( removing non olympic and team medals ) Wrestling - 5 ( I Have reduced our 7 medals to 5 proportionately ) - 2018 Boxing - 4 ( Again I have reduced proportionately 8 to 4 ) - 2018 Athletics - 1 ( Hima of course ) -2018 Badminton - 0 last year - will happen in November but I am putting 1 Archery - 2 -2017 weightlifting - 1 - world junior 2018 hockey 1 - junior world cup 2016 cycling -1 - junior world championships total Junior world championship medals for India at this point in time 24 I have been following olympic sports in India for the last 20 years ........ can you point out a single point in time where we have so many junior world championship medals we even have good tt , gymnastics and judo players ........barring tennis where there does not seem any real good young talent take 8 years back period of time 2012-2014 ...... check out the records of junior world championships ( !!!! ) you would find we were approx 1-2 shooting 2-3 Boxing 1-2 Wrestling 0 atheletics 1 badminton archery 1 weightlifting 0 hockey 0 total junior medals in the period 6-7 years ago - 6-7 and lo and behold we are likely 5-6 medals at the olympics There has been a huge improvement at the junior levels ( no political statements but raw facts ...you could correct the numbers if I am wrong ) I believe in statistics if we have 20-24 medals today 5-6 years from today we will have at least 12-15 medals at the senior olympics
  8. to be honest you have to look at current world championship medals we have won to determine the true likely hood of medals . there is thread in totally olympics http://results.totallympics.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=916 currently we just have 3 world championship medals ( 1 - shooting, 1- weightlifting , 1- badminton, ) add I think 1 medal in wrestling which we would get in november possibly , you could make it 4 ........ possibly I feel sourabh missed the senior WC medal because he was in the junior team so I would add one extra medal in shooting but that is it ......... we could be 5 medals .......anything extra would be lucky and completely dependent on form ....... But the current group of atheletes in the youth would be hitting the senior level ( possibly barring manu and sourabh ) only by 2024 ........ By 2024 we could be seeing 5-6 medals in shooting , possibly 3-4 medals in wrestling and 2-3 in womens boxing 1-2 in badminton based on the current juniors ....... jeremy may be a potent force in weightlifting and possibly 1-2 even in atheletics and 1-2 from other sports like tt, archery, tennis ................. so i think we would be seeing 12-18 medals then....... but you will have to be more patient
  9. great performance by India in Hockey 5s......reach the finals in both women and mens events ......... after so many disappointments by the senior team ( in the commonwealth games and the asian games ) , I had gotten to hate hockey in terms of performance , but these performance by the youngsters was fearless and bright ................... both women and men decimated the competition ....falling in love with hockey again
  10. good job by simran after mansis failure in wrestling ...she reaches the gold medal bout
  11. Liked the movie Love the whole Iranian story in wrestling ........ India has had the problem of being good at many sports but not excellent at any one ...... Iran shows the way that if you are really excellent at one sport ( and heavyweight weightlifting ) you can be a great olympic nation
  12. there is a semi offical channel I would say that is the Olympic channel where there is a NOC based result chart ...... I just checked and they have added chinese doubles medal to china
  13. quick question what is the format of wrestling ???
  14. well these atheletes are at the junior level and let us encourage them when they are at this level , when they reach the senior level they will score medals at that level ..... If you expect 16 year olds to get medals immediately at the senior olympics it may not be possible ...... the average age of an olympic medal in shooting is 28 years ... they will need time to transition and why cannot we take great pleasure in the significant accomplishment they are doing at this level ...................... I am thrilled with their accomplishment at this level
  15. half way through the YOG Impressions - Loved - vibe of beunos aires venues and the city itself ........ seems a cool place to be @LDOG ( you lucky Dog ) Loved - Sports climbing - the event is a joy to watch and the athleticism of the climbers is something to see Loved - Breaking ...... was jaw dropping at times and just so much fun...... loved the youthful vibe Loved - BMX mixed again a great addition , it had me at the edge of my seat Loved - Hockey 5s - so much more interesting than the standard hockey , found the dribbling skills and field skills so important compared to the normal hockey which seems to overemphasize penalty corners Hated - Futsal - not something I enjoyed watching ... did not have the theatre of football Hated - Basketball 3s - took a visual delight and cut it in half Hated - Mixed NOC events in most sports did not see the point of it .....allow mixed gender teams from the same country if they are already there Hated - The athetics modification into stages and combinations - atheletics is already the creme of any multi-event and the most watched ........ why change perfection
  16. really pointless mixed NOC team event in shooting ................................ irritated by the concept ..... the strongest shooters are paired with the weakest shooters from the other gender and lose in the first round ......... it is a punishment for winning a medal.............................. can somebody tell me what is the point i think they should pair the shooters of the same country together and if there is no opposite gender representative have a mixed NOC team ( the way they are doing in TT )
  17. Loving the reinvention of hockey ..... hockey5s is such fun , faster quicker, emphasis is on skills of stick work , dribbling rather than getting penalties
  18. Loved Bumbleboy ....... enjoyed breaking ........certainly after sports climbing my favourite new sport .................
  19. Indian Junior Shooters rock 2 golds , 2 silvers in 4 events ................. mehuli missed the last shot in 10m rifle or it would have been 3 golds and one silver ( this is without our two best best youth rifle shooters - hriday hazarika the junior world champion who I think is too young and valanivel the world youth champion who is just too old ) Individual Athlete Event Qualification Final Points Rank Points Rank Shahu Tushar Mane Boys' 10 m air rifle 623.7 3 Q 247.5 Saurabh Chaudhary Boys' 10 m air pistol 580 1 Q 244.2 Mehuli Ghosh Girls' 10m air rifle 628.1 1 Q 248.0 Manu Bhaker Girls' 10m Air pistol 576 1 Q 236.5
  20. India till date at the youth olympics in shooting .......... Our young shooters are Number 1 Athlete Event Qualification Final Points Rank Points Rank Shahu Tushar Mane Boys' 10m Air Rifle 623.7 3 Q 247.5 Saurabh Chaudhary Boys' 10m Air Pistol Mehuli Ghosh Girls' 10m Air Rifle 628.1 1 Q 248.0 Manu Bhaker Girls' 10m Air Pistol 576 1 Q 236.5
  21. what a performance by this young team ...... India at medal Position 3 just as of today .....NOW that is something I have not seen till now https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Summer_Youth_Olympics_medal_table and our shooters are the very best in the world at this age group
  22. Wowee........................................... our young shooters are totally brilliant 1-2-0 out of 3 events and we still are saving our best for last Saurabh to come out in the last event - 10 m pistol for men and currently I would rate him the best of this brilliant team .............................................that is toooooo ffffing brilliant by the shooting team ....... we truely have the best young shooters in the world ...... I was critisized for raving and ranting about our shooters .....but they deserve every praise so whooooooooooooooooooooooo.................................. by the bye India 3rd on the medal table now that is something we do not see often at a world event
  23. yes our first gold ever ( very special after 10 silvers )
  24. yes what a lifter a 11 kgs ahead of the next best ................
