  1. I was amazed by our women shotgun shooters... This was always Indias weakest segment in shooting , till now if my memory serves me right we had only one women shotgun shooter qualifying ever in shotgun ... Shagun in 2012 .... Now we have 3/4 quotas.... That is amazing good....
  2. Maheshwari..... What an achievement..... India did so well to almost catch up ( 21 quota places) with china not going to win any more quota places to add to their .....( 22 quota places ) .....
  3. Let us then move on recurve sunday.... Well recurve is the Olympic event and of course it is the koreans who are dominating........ First *mens team* .... India vs the much storied Korea team... In an astonishing game India thrashed the koreans 5-1 .... *Gasp* a gold in recurve Then India was up in the bronze match in mixed pairs against Mexico.... They won 6-0 to give us a second medal in recurve Then *women's individual* deepika kumar who had beaten a korean jeon in the QF was up against a second korean Nam in the SF .. . And it was expected the korean would take revenge but deepika was superb and won 6-0.... On to the finals and yet another korean was there lim... Would deepika decimate the entire korean team one after the other.... But alas not be and Lim won gold and deepika the silver.... But 🤩🤩🤩🤩 wow... Three medals in recurve 1Gold , 1 Silver and 1Bronze in recurve Sunday...... *Yes what a world Cup.. . Best performance ever at archery world Cup by India at least as per my memory.... 8 medals ( 5G, 2S, 1B out of 10 events)* ......
  4. India at the hyundai world Cup@shanghai.. Pretty much all countries were here at the first world cup of 2024 First compound saturday 1. The *women's team*.... This team of aditi our 16 year old world champ, the superb vennam 'the venom' surekha and parneet kaur is super dominating the world and they thrashed an experienced Italian side 236-225 2. Then the *men's team* also wrapped up the Netherlands team ( including world no 1 in style schloesser) in style 238-231 3. Then it was a close fight in the *compound mixed pair* with estonia siblings the jaatmas hanging tough but abhishek and vennam were able to eke out a slim 158-157 4. Then it was *women's individual final* with vennam against an in-form becerra of Mexico.... Vennam was below her wonted best with a 146 in the finals but becerra blew a 2 point lead with a last shot 8 .... Then again vennam shot a 9 but becerra also shot a 9 and vennam won the gold on closer distance.... 4 golds 5. Then it was priyansh against nico of austria against priyansh in *mens individual*... Nico shot a. Perfect 150 and won over priyansh who shot a good 147 .... So india ended compound saturday with 4 golds and 1 silver in 5 events.... . Dominated the world... What a performance from our world beating compound team
  5. India, cyprus and tunisia are the ones likely but cyprus is qualifying most probably in top 3 .... So enp will go to nethra.... This is most likely but medal round left I guess
  6. Sorry if the question is basic what is the eligibility criteria for a tripartite place
  7. So after the QFs are decided, if there are ( surely would be x number of continental qualifiers who reach QFs ) ..... Then these x number would be added to the ranking quota ( currently 1 ) which then would be decided on the end of March ittf ranking ( which would change based on these results as well ) ... Would my understanding be correct ? Or have I misunderstood
  8. I think it may be our first semi final in a super 300 or above by a women other than the twosome but need to check on that ....
  9. First semi final in a 500 or above bwf by a an Indian women other than that awesome twosome Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu ....shows that we have a very poor talent pool in women's singles in India .... Ashmita had a dream draw ..... So not sure it was luck ...but great job by Ashmita
  10. Three Indian athletes - Suraj Panwar, Servin and Arshpreet Singh - met the qualifying standard for in the men’s 20km race walk at the Indian Open Race Walking Competition 2024 in Chandigarh on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Panwar clocked one hour, 19 minutes and 44 seconds (1:19:44) to win the silver medal. Servin claimed the bronze medal with a timing of 1:20:03 and was followed by Arshpreet Singh in 1:20:04. The men’s 20km race walking qualifying standard for the Paris 2024 Olympics is 1:20:10. With the trio breaching the entry standard for the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday, a total of six Indian athletes have now met the entry standard for Paris 2024 in the men's 20km race walk event.
  11. But that makes so little sense .... So someone who finishes 10 in medal race ( officially 10th) gets 20 points and someone who gets 11th i.e comes first in remaining fleet....gets 11 points ... So if both were looking to get a quota let us say ....the guy who finishes 11th ( first in the remaining fleet gets a huge advantage )
  12. But should the points not be doubled for last race .....surely if the medal race points gets doubled so should the final race for non medal race .... if that is the case then the scoring above does not hold good
  13. What is nethra's position in women's dinghy ..... Some in the list like ireland Eva have already qualified
  14. What about medal race not counted for quota ?
  15. @Prashanth, @Roamingrover86 , @Siddhartha Talukdar, @Prakash @Prakash_k, @Fly_like_a_don, @sanjaydas, @Shravan Kumar, @Sachin singh shekhawat, @Saatvik hey guys I have been a totally Olympics member for a long time , I find navigating different posts in each of the so many india clubs difficult for keeping up with India Olympics news ....each club has a few posts but there is very little engagement .... May I request we start using a single club for all india posts as it was before .... Can we post every india related postin this club ...it is called ekta so seems a good name
  16. Happy after missing out in both trap finals a quota in skeet woman ....our first skeet quota
  17. As per issf rules only one quota given per country per event... I thought ?
  18. @Sindo, I do not know about others. ...but have been a long time member of TO ....I find the India national group being broken up into these clubs no fun , the postings of India group when it was one group was large enough
  19. Well covered sidhartha.... I do think talha talib and dastagir butt were good weightlifters..... but i do think both have some doping issues so i do not know what is thier status... Would like to just add watching 🇵🇰 fall in sports sad..... The country is economic shambles, corrupt sports administration has pulled Pakistan down . ... This was a country which was head to head with India for example in 1962 Asian Games Pakistan and india both had around 30 medals and were 3-4 on medal table.... Now we had 107 medals and Pakistan 3 ..... Sad to see....
  20. Agree.... I think 73 is their best weight, 61 men I think they are moving their 55 kg wch gold medallist but will be very very tough as he needs to add around 30 kgs.... So almost impossible In 49 kgs.... Situation in flux but i think she needs to add 5-6 kgs to be in medal contention.... So yes 1 medal possible 2 unlikely
  21. Thailand medal chances 1) taekwondo Panipak "Tennis" Wongpattanakit top ranked in 49kg ..... Gold medallist at tokyo, twice world champion, gold medallist at Asian Games 2023..... Surely their best chance.... Banlung Tubtimdang world silver medallist and Asian gold medallist mens 60 kg.... couple of others are good in women's lower weights phannapa, chutikan but need to improve 2) badminton mixed doubles - sapsiree and dechapol ... Ranked 5th men's singles - kunlavit ... Very young and getting better.... Also I think top 5 .... 3) boxing raksat in 50 kg women.... Twice world Championship bronze, defeated nikhat the world champion in the semis so good, couple of others also to watch, but primarily women.... I feel over all 3-4 medals, anything better would be great
  22. @MHSN....many congrats on discus performance , finally finally ehsan was pushed to second place ( I remember vikas gowda was always behind him at asian games) but luckily for Iran the guy who beat was also Iranian but 5 golds and now a silver .....what a great athelete he has been for Iran
  23. For India this is turning out to be our very best games ever ...already 13 Golds ( best 16) , 53 total medals ( best 70) .... even the ad campaign by Sony network our teecaster which was sounding a bit bombastic at the beginning of the games pushing 'iss barr say parr' ( translated means 'this time 100+') is looking possible with some stretch
