I generally would support SRI, PAK, NEP and BHU because they are neighbours and if they improve their standards we would have better competition in llocal contests, and also bring more people into sport viewage in our country ........................... I personally like Iran and Thailand and support them , they are generally around our level at the asian games .......... so would not support Jap , Kor or china as they are the super dogs at the asian level........... Love Kenyan runners especially Rudisha so would support them , have a soft spot for Cuba and would support them in general ................ and possibly Brazil and South Africa again similar nations to India on the world stage ................ Also Egypt, Tunisia , Algeria and other African countries in general underdogs to Europe and USA but superb talent in some places

Dont forget mixed doubles ....... In fact in this event we have a good chance to reach quarters I think ..............................

Overall analysis of shooting places as of now ....... shooting is likely to be one of Indias most likely medal hopes ....... quick analysis only of quota places Pistol 10M for Men - Saurabh and Abhishek already won quota places , Shahzar is also a great shooter ...... so while saurabh stands apart form the rest ....... shahzar may challenge abhisjek for the quota if the NRAI holds a shoot off .... India has a great team with 3 shooters in top 15 and saurabh unoffically number one ( according to me as he is second without participating at the world championships ) 25M rapid fire - India has won no quota places but with china already qualifying 2 shooters and 4 quota places in the Asian, also , I believe we should have at least one qualifier if not two - Most like Anish or Adarsh - hopefully one at the last world cup and one at the asian competition or two at the asian qualification - competition will be from korea ( they have a couple of really good shooters here ) , pak and vietnam but I think 2 is really possible . Anish is currently the 2nd highest ranked asian amongst the unqualified shooters 10M pistol for women - With Manu qualifying, yeshashwini or heena may get one quota place but may not be that easy as the competition at the asian level is tough ( though china and south korea have maxed out ) but thailand , mongolia, singapore all have good shooters , I am hoping for One as even in the mixed pairs we should have our second pair ( 5 other asians ahead of yeshashwini ) 25M pistol for women - with Rahi qualifying and Manu doing well in this event ( qualifying in 10m ) , I do not see chinki really qualifying , this event is truly open with china still only qualifying one , korea qualifying only none , Mongolia and thailand strong in this event and not having any qualifyers yet the asian event is going to really strong and tough 10M mixed pair - obviously in Saurabh and Manu we have a world number one team but going forward I feel we would have a second Pair SO I think we may have 7 quotas in shooting Pistol ........also have 2 pairs in the tokyo , this will bring our team to a really strong 10 shooters participating in all 5 events as Manu would be shooting in two events Rifle 50 M three positions Men - Currently our shooters doing badly ( highest Indian Parul is 48th in the world ) .... maybe they need to induct a couple of youngsters likeSheoran or Kusale but the asian standard is also very weak ( china already has 2 quota places ) so I feel we may get one at the asian championship 10M air rifle for men - Divyansh panwar qualifying is great , also deepak and Ravi are doing well and at asia they may induct Hriday Hazarika I feel and I am confident we will get our second quota the highest ranked Asian who is unqualified and probably qualify 10M air rifle for women - Here we have plethora of riches with anjum and apurivi ranked 1 and 2 in the world (already qualified ) and velaranivel is also knocking on the door of the top 10 50 M 3 position for women - i believe we have a good chance to have either sunidhi or gayatri to qualify , and anjum would be the second shooter here In pairs we will have two pairs and I believe both teams are strong .......... Total quotas may be 6 , but we will have most likely two pairs and Anjum shooting in the 3 positions we should have I feel 9 strong shooters in the 5 Rifle events shotgun Trap _ I think Kyanan would defintely qualify skeet _ i think either mairaj , shiraz should qualify I think we may get one women in either trap or skeet if we are lucky ......Possibly Ganemat and I am wondering where is manisha keer I think we have 3 athletes competing in the 5 events

True.....hope they can keep up this form into next year...... saurabh seems the key ...... as he is regularly winning 2 golds and shooting world records so regularly

What a Great effort by the brilliant but mercurial Manu Bhakker ...... Just yesterday she melted down in the 25 M final in such a heartbreaking way ...... was second and looked sure to get a quota place , then shot 6 blanks to get knocked down to 4th and just out of a quota place ...... But today she held her own to win ........ great effort , great poise ........ She is such an integral part of Indias olympic dream , in both 10m pistol and 25m pistol and also combining with the phenomenal Saurabh in the mixed pairs ( 2 gold this year already in world cups ) ....... so this was the result I was really hoping for

sunidhi came heart breakingly close to getting into the finals of the three position but a good result for her non the less

quick question .......does India qualify for mixed team pistol just in case rahi has a MQS in 10m pistol ( she qualified in the 25M pistol ) .....we already have 2 men in the 10m men ???

adarsh , anish and arpit in 25 rapid , ravi , deepak and panwar in 10m rifle and gayatri , sunidhi and saini in the 50 m 3 positions ....... suprised that they are still having panwar but possibly they did not have a choice ...... wonder why our 16 year old hriday hazirika is not in the mix ?

India doing magnificantly at the world cup 3 golds ....... feeling a bit sorry for Manu who narrowly missed medal and quota place ....... but Saurabh and chendela have been phenomenons this season and are establishing ....... 6 world record for saurabh 4 junior and 2 senior so he is a real phenomenon and Rahi sarnobat did very well to win quota and a gold

Couple of results for india at the archery world cup - only one medal - a bronze in men’s compound, 4th in womens compund ..... poor results in recurve unfortunately....... at the sassari championship in wrestling a uww event we went with a close full national team but only vinesh and bajrang a couple of others absent ...... results seema in 50 kgs gets gold , pooja in 57 silver , manju in 59 bronze , divya in 65 bronze resonable but not outstanding sakshi did badly though ........ in Fs fairly poorly only sonaje got gold but unfortunately in bajrangs class 65 .... rahul got a bronze and deepak in 86 a bronze ..... neither praveen , sumit or amit dhankar git a medal ..... deepak is the major silver lining a junior he is doing well and will only improve...... in greco one gold gurjeet who is showing class and one bronze by gyanender who is also coming up.... so above av results .... i think our other silver medalists in asians i think sunil did not participate...... and

possibly arokia rajeev made 45.37 at the asian close to anas ..... should be either decent or long at least , also definately seema antil with a decent chance she did a 62 last year and kamalpreet was close so she also should in with a decent chance ,,,, nayana james and neena are long shots in womens long they did a 6.51 last year , also kushbir and saumya in womens 20km should be in with a decent chance , sandeep in 50 km race walk , gopi in marathon should have decent chances in marathon they have always been liberal in the qualifying standards , also suriya in womens 10000 and Anu in 400mh can be long shots ................ this will bring us to 40 if all qualify ........ last time 34 .... hope we can better this ...... our side is better I feel than last time......................... hope we can have more finalists

If vinesh stays at 53 which i also feel is likely then the 50 kg seems to be wide open ...... ritu phogat would have been the best but she has announced she has quit wrestling ..... i am not sure that we have any good 50kg wrestler in women ..... any body has any suggestions ? - hate to leave it blank ... yes ravi would be my choice but in the asian champs he wrestled at a higher weight category so am not sure ........ depak punia in the free and sunil in the greco are really good ..... age 18 and 19 respectively ....so may find it tough due age and inexperience.............. i watched the final bout of sunil with the iranian he was so very good ..... could have won but for small technical issues ......... would love to see sajjan also come up ..... very unfortunely he is in the same weight as gurjeet which is a pity as gurjeet was possibly our best in greco..... sandeep has been bad for the last couple of so i think ravi is our best bet ...... Our best chances are in Wrestling , shooting and boxing for 2020 ( we have improved compared to Rio ) ..... with possible medals in Badminton and weightlifting ( we are at the same level as last time ) .......... we have long shots in athletics ( weare better off than last time ) , hockey ( better off than last time ) and archery( a little worse off than last time ) .......................... but tennis we have really no hopes ( we are much worse off than Rio ) ........ My take on wrestling wrestling I hope we can qualify at least 4 in women and 4 in free style and 2 in greco ( based on the asian champ results )- this is compared to 6 last time ( we had 2 pluses due to doping disqualifications and then we lost 1 due to doping and ended up with 7 ) ........so 10 would be great ......... I feel if we qualify 10 we can get 1-3 medals this time . I have marked what I believe is our best chances in yellow to qualify this time - I am marking only their last 2 years victories here .......
