  1. 2. I hope that Tofu from Italy will win gold in mens 100m, he just has the perfect name for a sprinter. Edit: Its crazy how many world class sprinters south africa suddenly has ... They should win at least 3 golds in Rio (2 x Semenya + Van Niekerk).
  3. I am absolutely shocked to hear that he cheated, i always thought that a small country like Norway is so dominant in a sport that is 100% about endurance, because they love it so much? I am also very shocked to hear that a guy, who suddenly started to destroy everyone else at a high age isnt clean, i always thought that he just trained more than everyone else? Of course Northug, Weng, Björgen, Östberg, Johaug and so on are absolutely clean, there cant be any doubt about that, the show must go on!
  4. Germany got 2 additional quota places, so our Team grows by 2 athletes: Mens c1 200m: Stefan Kiraj Mens c2 1000m: Brendel/Vandrej
  5. Also a bit too late: Florian Gaul 5.77m (pole vault) Sam Kendricks 5.77m Shawn Barber 5.70m Thiago Braz da Silva 5.70m Konstadinos Filippidis 5.70m Tobias Scherbath 5.70m All in Rottach-Egern yesterday Germany nominated Scherbath, Dilla and Holzdeppe, who didnt jump any higher than 5.40m this year. It would be really sad if Holzdeppe wouldnt be able to get into shape, considering that Gaul is now the best german pole vaulter this year but didnt get a spot. With his mark of 5.77m Gaul is now 7th in the world ranking. Of all the guys ranked ahead of him only Lavillenie, Kudlicka and Menaldo didnt compete in Rottach-Egern yesterday.
  6. Dont think so, here is what he said after the final: http://www.sport.de/news/ne2327485/boll-triumphiert-bei-olympia-generalprobe/ No one can prevent an all-chinese final. I dont know which chinese players got nominated, but Ovtcharov always plays pretty good against Zhang Jike, so there might be a 0.1% chance that it wont be an all-chinese final if China nominates/nominated Zhang Jike. Boll seems to be in a pretty good shape nevertheless, which is good news for the team competition. Edit: I think there is a pretty good chance that we wont have an all-chinese final at 2020 olympics, Harimoto Tomokazu will hopefully win gold at home.
  7. I think that Yang will win the gold and Horton also could surprise, for me Paltrinieri isnt the favorite.
  8. Did you know that Bastian was pretty much on the same level as Felix in alpine skiing when they were younger, but then Bastian decided to focus on football? They were best friends from a very young age on and often competed against each other. About Gössner: Great success for her, hopefully she will also have some success next season, although i doubt it, her shooting is just too bad.
  9. Cavendish is just an a**hole, his post-race interview was just embarrassing. I hope this guy gets destroyed in Rio and then has to end his career. Its just disgusting that he is suddenly in the shape of his life at the age of 31, just in time for the olympics, not to mention the fact that this is his first year with Aldag (who admitted that he doped with EPO during his career). GB has been shit in cycling for ... always and then suddenly guys like Froome, Wiggins or Yates come out of nowhere.
  10. I dont think that its that simple and you would also have to mention how strong the wind was during Omoregie's run. In 2011 it took 13.56s (-1.6m/s) to reach the final, at 2012 olympics it took 13.31s (-0.5m/s) to reach the final In 2007 it took 13.35s (-0.3m/s) to reach the final, at 2008 olympics it took 13.43s (-0.4m/s) to reach the final In 2003 it took 13.55s (+0.4m/s) to reach the final, at 2004 olympics it took 13.34s (0.0m/s) to reach the final In 1999 it took 13.47s (0.0m/s) to reach the final, at 2000 olympics it took 13.39s (+0.4m/s) to reach the final In general we see very often that events in swimming/athletics get (much) faster in olympic years and i think we will see it again this year. I think McLeod, Ortega, Allen, Parchment, Bascou and Martinot-Lagarde are safe to be faster than 13.25s in Rio and i am pretty sure that at least 2 out of Ash/Porter/Belocian/Xie will also be faster than 13.25s. To sum it up: I think that 13.25s with a slight headwind might be enough to make the final in Rio, but i doubt that Omoregie wouldve been able to run that time under these conditions. Edit: Apparently he had a tailwind of 1.2m/s and the race took place in Loughborough, a track that is known to produce fast times. At the same meet Joel Fearon (never heard of him before) ran a huge lifetime best of 10.04s (+1.7m/s). Omoregie only finished 4th at the british Championships with a time of 13.67s (-1.3m/s), 0.36s behind Pozzi ... Do you have any explanation why he should be in a much better shape now?
  11. Provisional entry list for the Junior world Championships: http://www.iaaf.org/news/iaaf-news/world-u20-bydgoszcz-2016-entry-list
  12. Helen Langehanenberg (equestrian dressage, bronze in the Team competition in 2012) failed to qualify
  13. Great to hear, Sweden used to be great in jumping Events, but for some reason now they arent anymore.
  14. Yeah, sad for him, but there is no way that he couldve reached the olympic final. Does GB have 3 other qualified athletes in mens 110m hurdles?
  15. German Team dressage: Kristina Bröring-Sprehe (Desperados) Dorothee Schneider (Showtime) Isabell Werth (Weihegold) Sönke Rothenberger (Cosmo) Reserve: Hubertus Schmidt (Imperio) German Team jumping: Ludger Beerbaum (Casello) Daniel Deußer (First Class) Marcus Ehning (Cornado NRW) Christian Ahlmann (Taloubet) Reserve: Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (Fibonacci) Pretty much expected selections, but i would have seleced Ehning as reserve instead of Meredith. German eventing Team will be announced tomorrow morning.
  16. I think this is a new PB for Skoog, her previous PB was 1.92m, do you know if she is qualified for Rio?
  17. Its shocking that some People really believe that this was a (failed) coup. For me its obvious that Erdogan faked all of this to get more power and to get a "reason" to punish his opponents. His first reaction was to fire 2700 judges, i wonder how he got their names so fast ... ? He gets closer and closer to his ultimate Goal: Total control. In 12 months or less Turkey will be as much of a democracy as Russia, but sadly far more religious. If this was a "real" coup, then the turkish Military leaders (or at least) some of them seem to be shockingly stupid, this has to be by far the worst attempt of a coup in history. Edit: Does Turkey already have the death penalty? If not, then it might be introduced very quick.
  18. Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch 2.00m (new PB) Kamila Licwinko 1.96m (dont know if its her best result this season?) Sofia Skoog 1.93m (dont know if its her best result this season?) Off-Topic, but: How did Moldova suddenly become so good in athletics and also Swimming (Sancov) and Canoeing? Edit: Is the qualifying period already over? I hope that Skoog is (already) qualified.
  19. I thought we were already safe to compete in mens k4 ... ? Our Team is Hoff/Rendschmidt/Groß/Liebscher.
  20. This is a nightmare, the worst News of the year so far, although i dont like him. Its always hearbreaking when someone gets punished for aiming high, mens high jump will be much less interesting without him. I hope that he will come back as fast as possible. Good News is that he is Young enough for one or two more olympics, hopefully Italy will win a surprising Gold medal in some other Event, maybe mens Volleyball or mens 1500m (Swimming).
  21. Football: What about Diego Costa, Thiago or Marcos Senna? Basketball: What about Mirotic for example? Handball: What about Sterbik for example? Tennis: You might be right about Muguruza, but what about someone like Nicola Kuhn? I think the turkish athletes at the european Championships werent banned at all and for sure not for 3 years. Lets say you buy the 10th best kenyan athlete who never competed for Kenya internationally, then he wont get banned and thats just wrong, he/she is still easily good enough to challenge for a medal in many Events, everyone who changes nationality should be banned.
  22. Lets say Germany gets a spot in mens c2 1000m, would we have to compete with the Team that failed to qualify? I dont think/hope that womens k4 500m Gold is safe for Hungary, Hering/Kriegerstein and Weber/Dietze are both world-class in womens k2 500m, now we only have to get them to work together better.
  23. Germany and Hungary for Gold? What about womens k2? Could Germany get a spot in mens c2 1000m?
  24. Yeah, what will be next? Bouchard wins US Open? Wozniacki wins the individual Gold medal in Rio? Graf announces her comeback? Ana Ivanovic competes for Germany? Azarenka announces that its Mouratoglou's child? Lisicki wins a tournament? Muguruza announces that she has a relationship with Suarez-Navarro? Kvitova marries Stepanek? i am sure that great things are ahead of us and i cant wait to see what will come next, we seem to live in some kind of twilight Zone this year.
  25. You have naturalized tons of athletes in Basketball, Football, Handball, Tennis and so on. I dont actually care if he was paid by Spain or not, but if you allow athletes to Change nationality without getting banned, then countries like Turkey or Azerbaijan will never stop. I think every athlete who changes nationality should be banned for the next olympic games and world Championships. Someone like Ortega could compete for Spain in the Diamond league and earn his living that way, but if you allow countries to just buy olympic medals, then this will never end.
