  1. Hungary also has a somewhat popular Celtic rock band. I guess I now know what to send in the near future.
  2. Well, you know what they say, slow and steady wins the race. (seriously though, I hope that we get at least one point in the next session)
  3. I think Malta and Ireland are looking stronger than Canada after the first session, you can't win this contest without medals.
  4. Canada takes the lead after 5 nations just like in the previous edition.
  5. When was the last time the winner didn't receive points from the first jury?
  6. We have Hollandia as well. There's no way you can translate "Netherlands" to Hungarian without it sounding really strange. I guess there's also an option to call it by its geographical name in Hungarian, which is "Németalföld", but "német" means German in Hungarian, so I doubt the Dutch would like that.
  7. Well, at least the Dutch have their preferred version in English. Unlike some other countries, forever stuck with the hungry joke and the confusion with the Huns.
  8. "Listen kids, this is important, there's this online song contest on a sports forum, if you won't submit songs to it every year you won't inherit any money from me."
  9. They really are one of the most likable nations in sport. I wish we would be pulling off these last minute miracles against other nations, not poor Iceland. First the men's handball QF in London 2012 and now this match, they can't catch a break against us on these "life or death" matches.
  10. UEFA really should just cancel Nations League and postpone the EURO 2020 qualifiers. I don't understand why the federations are letting the games to continue under these terrible conditions. We are at a point where people aren't even allowed to go outside after 8pm... My guess is that the top nations don't care because it's the NL, and the 8 teams who are playing the important matches are too insignificant to protest at UEFA. I would really happy if both Iceland and Hungary would boycott the match for example.
  11. Unbelievable, 6 players tested positive in Salzburg, which means that no one can play for their NT, so we once again have to play without Szoboszlai. What is even the point of international football at this point? This is just ridiculous.
  12. Wow, we have less than a week until the finale, how time flies! I just hope that whoever wins, it won't be dragged out for days while we will wait for the last few votes to arrive painfully slowly. I don't want to spend days looking at a world map, searching for outstanding votes for the runner-up to catch up to the song leading the race, debating whether there's still a path for them to win TISC.
  13. I have passed by that place so many times last year, they have attack at one of the vibrant parts of the city.
  14. Well, apparently Budapest did well because we will host the Judo World Championships in 2021 instead of Uzbekistan, one month before the Olympics. Not sure why IJF wants a WCh in an Olympic year, specially so close to the Games.
  15. Sadly I don't know much about pancake restaurants. But on the topic of pancakes, I remember watching American movies as a kid, and seeing them eat pancake and I was like "Wtf, that's not what a pancake is!" We eat crepe and call it "pancake" (palacsinta). Just to give an example, one of the Hungarian crepes is the "Hortobágyi húsos palacsinta", which is basically a crepe filled with meat, and served with paprika and sour cream sauce. It wouldn't be a Hungarian dish without paprika. It's not the healthiest dish in the world but it can be quite tasty and it's not that hard to make.
  16. I have nothing against AOC but this comes off just as desperate as anything politicians have done to show that they are "one of us". I cringe at the notion that the next generation of politicians will promote themselves with stunts like these.
  17. Hopefully none because the host voting isn't over yet. (But I am pretty much done with my ranking so I will submit it as soon as the voting starts)
  18. Which is why his approval will plummet one Trump's gone like Obama's did after his first election. Obama had 60%+ approval after the election and went below 50% after the first year, had close to the same approval as Trump during the midterms, which gave a massive win for the GOP, the democrats lost the House and lost 6 seats in the Senate. Unless they find a solution to this recession quickly, they will lose power again in 2022, because Trump is just a symptom of the country's deep issues, not the cause.
  19. That's like almost every theater experience for me pre-COVID, and I have attended a LOT of screenings over the years, both in art house cinemas and regular large ones, in large cities like Budapest and Vienna. Like, the only screenings where strangers were sitting next to me were on the opening weekends of mega blockbusters like the Marvel movies, or special events like film festivals or pre-release screenings.
  20. Listened to all the songs for the first time. I think out of the 3 contests that I have entered so far, this one will be the hardest to win, we have many great, memorable songs here. But at the same time this my first TISC where I feel like I can guess which songs will be fighting for the gold... but I am probably wrong and this will be just as unpredictable as the last two.
  21. Yeah. @heywoodu, the Slovakian and Portuguese videos should be replaced by these in the playlist:
  22. btw, we can help @heywoodu by simply listening to the songs and making our rankings, we just won't send it to him until he's done with his own ranking. So by the time the contest officially resumes we won't need a 9 days long voting window.
