    Yeah, our continent really likes multi-sport games. Panama is in the unique position where they compete in all games (Bolivarian, Central, South, Central & Caribbean and Pan American)

    Here are my predictions based off of 2017 results. Note, not all events had world championships/equivalents, biggest being women's boxing and equestrian. Weightlifting has been adjusted due to many nations missing out (though the nations missing out aren't compensated). Also nations with only one medal chance have been rounded down to 0 and I have not excluded any athletes which have retired.

    Currently Algeria has a girl in a qualification position. Should Africa not be given any spots in the boys' tournament through the tripartite commission then Egypt will qualify by having the highest ranked athlete from the continent.

    We are 1 nation short from tying the record of most nations to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games (39 nations). Though given the semifinalists in boxing we will break that record.

    I know most people are focused on the Winter Olympics, but I've been collecting qualification dates and results for the Youth Olympics. Overall I'm up to date on most things except for the continental quotas for athletics and an official word as to the top 16 nations in swimming (though that's less important). I also don't have the quotas for BMX freestyle, but the qualification event was such a flop I think the UCI has to recreate something different.

    I'm also still looking for the qualification dates for the following continental qualifiers.
    * Athletics (Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania)
    * Beach Volleyball (Africa, Asia/Oceania)
    * Boxing (Africa, Asia)
    * Futsal (Africa, CONCACAF, South America)
    * Rhythmic Gymnastics (Asia)

    Boxing should be little trouble, I'm just waiting for AIBA's calendar to update. I suspect Asia's rhythmic gymnastics qualifiers will be revealed soon. I think Africa's athletics qualifiers will be at the African Youth Games.

    I also feel it's unfair that ISSF uses chronological priority. The 2018 American Championships happens before all of the World Cup events meaning the top nations (United States and Cuba to an extent) are competing for spots while for the other continents there will be less competition. I guess it's our fault to have the continental championship so early and having all of the quotas in the Pan American Games is unfair given our qualification system.

    More or less, though I guess you can consider the qualification round as part of the mixed team tournament. Overall this was done to make sure at least 16 NOCs have a male and female archer.

    Only the top 4 athletes will be eligible for the quota places. If you are unable to award someone the place will be reallocated to the Final Individual Qualification Tournament. So basically Asia will lose out.

    Technically you can catch the golden snitch and still lose if your team is behind by more than 150 points. Mass start does not have that. You might as well make the race into a 2-4 lap race because that's all that matters.

    She couldn't outsprint the top athletes, the only way she could win would be to start strong and hope the pack ignores her until it was too late. At worst you'll get fourth with that strategy.

    Both teams have won world championships while Koe had two members of Kevin Martin's 2010 gold medal team. Politics may have been at play though. The fact that they forced Homan to change her alternate because "she didn't fit the criteria" was ridiculous. If she was good enough to compete at the worlds, she's good enough to compete at the Olympics.

    That's a general issue with the Winter Olympics. If there were quota restraints like in the Summer Olympics these events would be closer to 16-24 entrants than 24-30.

    I'm not sure how that's any different than someone becoming a citizen of a different nation to have an easier time qualifying. The Olympics were never just about having the best, it's also about having a diverse field.

    I guess they can have a rule where all athletes must score above 50 points in a certain number of competitions or something to prevent people from getting free points.

    Here's a couple...

    Pyrros Dimas won gold in weightlifting in 1992, 1996 and 2000, but "only" won bronze at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

    Viktor Saneyev from the Soviet Union won gold in triple jump in 1968, 1972 and 1976 and then won silver at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow
