as well as a Mixed Team event consisting of combined scores from Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics.

Ah come on, why do they want to mix absolutely everything at the youth Olympics?

This is almost like that useless cycling competition that's a mix of a few athletes doing all kinds of things that have nothing to do with their actual discipline.

Well, it really doesn't seem that IOC wants YOG to be a serious competition...

Exactly, and that's such a shame. I mean, it's a perfect opportunity to experiment with things (the cross-country cross in Lillehammer was really quite awesome) and I have no problem with that. My problem is with all the useless mixing of events and men/women and adding mixed competitions in every damn sport :p

    • yesterdays' results:  VS  26-31 Very good result for  to qualify to the main round, the team improved (but not to compete with the high level yet).  is a fast and rapid team but lacking the strength and good defense.    VS  29-29, great game from both giants,  finished the first half 16-11 but a great comeback from  in second half with special thanks to Alex Dujshebev who scored in the last 6 seconds and to Dujshebev junior (Daniel) who saved the long shot from the center to secure the draw in a thriller game. De Vargas (  GK) did one great moment in the game when he saved a penalty and the Ref gave the Swedish player Hampus a red card thinking it came straight to De Vargas face but the GK told the ref it came to his hand asking the ref to cancel the red card in a great moment  (at that time the score was 20-14 to Sweden)      VS  28-38, great game from the African side,  is a big question mark, in 1999 Wch they finished 8th and since then the team performance was keep going down (decent number of players switched nationalities),  was leading the game from start till the end and secure a historical qualify to the main round.    VS  18-23, is it a surprise? ..yes and no ..  should be the more favorable side but their performance even in the European qualification was not great..  beat  in European qualification with 1 goal difference in a very tough game.  was performing very well from the beginning finishing the 1st half 14-8,  GK get the credit for such brilliant result.
