I guess Europe is quite happy with this result. It seems unlikely Thailand will find three riders to reach the MER. Though I guess it could help Canada/United States should one of them choke at the Pan American Games (maybe Brazil with an outside chance). Assuming Thailand has one rider with MER, it does make things a bit tight for the individual rankings. I guess the second quota will be between Hong Kong and India (does South Korea have a capable athlete?)

To be honest, if Canada had any chance at finishing in the top four World Rugby would have had the same rule as they had for the women's tournament. There's no way Mexico/Guyana/Jamaica/T&T would beat us.

Good news for Canada (and likely Kenya next week). Tough luck for Europe which has a good chance of only getting a single team in the men's event.

There might be a good chance. South Korea was at least a Division I team regular while China is a Division II team, showing no signs of moving up to IB. The women are likely safe though.

Ice hockey is so uncompetitive that it's doubtful any nation will decrease in strength to the point where they don't deserve to be in the tournament.
