  1. I think the host/tripartite reallocation will happen after world cup quotas, though I'm not 100% sure...
  2. I think that's incorrect the three criteria should add up to 14. It should be 7 for both genders. For men 5 qualified at the world champs plus continental quotas for Africa and Pan America while for women 6 qualified at the world champs plus a continental quota for Africa. (Oceania loses its quota in both genders due to the World Cup rankings)
  3. Karate really should have been a 16 person tournament. I know the IOC wants to keep quotas tight, but it just doesn't feel like the tournament will do the sport justice.
  4. Yeah they could just substitute the Netherlands for the United States and re-run the Americas qualifier. Maybe get Panama waiting in the wings just in case someone gets cold feet.
  5. Right now Judo Canada's stance is that they won't tell any one to change unless it's for health reasons.
  6. Yeah, sucks that our two best judoka (ever?) are in the same weight class.
  7. I know, like I can understand why they wouldn't let the cyclists compete in the road race while all other time trial racers must do so, but there's no reason as to why they can't compete compete in the individual events in judo. They did so in 2016 and it's not like it will "ruin" the bracket like it will in taekwondo and wrestling.
  8. There's always a chance that one of them has a bad day, look at what happened to China at the 2019 Worlds and with only four athletes competing any mistake will have a larger effect. I think it comes down to the big nations just not holding the apparatus events in high regard. They see it as a way to inflate their medal count, not something they are trying to actively get.
  9. Currently Peter Zilka has a continental quota in -90kg. Remember 100+ nations will qualify thanks to continental quotas (plus 20 more thanks to tripartite).
  10. Off the top of my head Slovakia can get 2 more in artistic swimming, 1 in golf, 1 in judo and maybe 1 in tennis. Plus maybe some people in swimming
  11. Apparently Jordan Hart is ineligible in women's singles according to the document.
  12. Badminton, shooting and weightlifting could also seamlessly add athletes though I don't think they have reached the minimum requirements. Currently only marathon runner Tachlowini Gabriyesos has reached the qualification standard.
  13. Around 35 refugee athletes will be announced tomorrow. Sounds like a lot...
  14. The 4 athletes per team makes it hard for specialists to qualify. Though I think Downie would have had a decent chance at qualifying regardless if given a normal chance.
  15. I think the ranking will be published after the world championships (even if the events have already occurred).
  16. You can blame the NOCs for that, they are the ones who nominate their athletes (in ranked priority) which the commission takes into account when making their selection.
  17. Reallocations are based on MQS results, not World Rankings. Burnett has a 121 while have 120 and have 119.
  18. Does anyone know which events receive priority for reallocation? Anyway here are the top eligible nations for each event along with how many quotas are available (I'm assuming the remaining tripartite quotas and North Korea's quotas will be reallocated). I will also list the next three eligible nations. * or ** = tied with each other Men's 10m Air Rifle (1) - / Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (1) - / Men's 10m Air Pistol (1) - / * * ** ** Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (2) - * * / Men's Trap (1) - / * * ** ** Men's Skeet (2) - / * * ** ** ** Women's 10m Air Rifle (0) - None / Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3) - / Women's 10m Air Pistol (2) - / * * Women's 25m Pistol (0) - None / Women's Trap (3) - / Women's Skeet (2) - / Currently, Ireland, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and potentially Venezuela are all in positions to obtain more than one quota so their quotas will have to reallocated. I am very positive that we will not have enough quotas in women's trap
  19. Took a quick look at all the relay qualifying countries Finland still needs to qualify one woman (either through OQT or OST and selected) in order to keep their medley relay. They have only qualified a single woman and can only select 2 relay only athletes so they need another person.
  20. I was hopeful, but it was always going to be an uphill battle. I don't think we'll qualify in karate either so Canada will be 29/33. I think that puts us behind Japan, United States and Australia
  21. What a turn around for Canada. Mental belief goes a long way
  22. While they may be the same sport, Pros and Amateurs might as well be different events. It would be like a 1500m World Champ runner trying to compete in a 100m amateur running event.
