  1. making a good case for the tripartite invitation...
  2. RS:X - Day 2 (Olympic Standings) Men's RS:X - 5 - 15 Women's RS:X - 6 - 15 470 - Day 1 (Olympic Standings) Men's 470 - 3 - 9 Women's 470 - 3 The results page for the women's 470 seems to imply Argentina is sailing by herself
  3. Yeah, there's a chance (small) that Sanders could win all the delegates in California due to no one breaking the 15% threshold. At that point it'll almost be guaranteed that Sanders will have the most delegates, only question would be if he'll get a majority. Even if one other person becomes viable Sanders taking ~2/3 of the delegates would still give him a strong lead, especially if he stays viable in Texas. The moderate dead lock likely won't be broken until after Super Tuesday. I don't see Biden dropping out unless he loses South Carolina and even then it's only a few days until Super Tuesday so it would likely be due to pressure from the DNC.
  4. RS:X - Day 1 (Olympic Standings) Men's RS:X - 3 - 9 Women's RS:X - 5 - 9 Looks like Brazil's athlete in the men's event didn't show up.
  5. I still think it's a bit ridiculous to have a world series event during the Olympics. They did the same thing in 2016. Even Lac St. Jean is a bad idea.
  6. Yeah, China is pretty much sending all of their athletes overseas and having them quarantined so they can still participate in qualifiers and the Olympics. By the end of the month/March all their athletes should be fine to compete anywhere.
  7. Canada got a decent group, third place is very possible which sets up a quarterfinal against Russia (or Germany/Netherlands). Of course it won't be easy and we'd still have to get past Croatia/Greece/Montenegro which is unlikely, but at least things are set up to make it possible oppose to being in the other group where we may finish third or fourth and have to face Greece/Montenegro during the quarterfinal.
  8. I'm reading that there will be quarterfinals for the women, still trying to find something more official.
  9. Weird, you'd think they would have had at least a semi-final match
  10. Sadly they did. New Zealand has declined the quota. Therefore the Oceania quota goes to Australia's Marina Carrier
  11. The South American RS:X and 470 Championships are this week with Olympic quotas being awarded to the highest ranked eligible boat. Here are the eligible nations (so far registered) Men's RS:X - Women's RS:X - Men's 470 - Women's 470 -
  12. Looks like Brazil will need to defeat Argentina if it wants to defend its Olympic crown.
  13. too with their win over Sweden All that's remaining is the winner of /
  14. The article may not have said it, but considering they aren't listed as a qualified nation, there is most certainly an investigation going on.
  15. After some digging around it looks like there is a protest against the men's 470 boat. Basically they are looking to make sure everything is in order in terms of registration and Olympic eligibility Here's an article about it (it's in German)
  16. With women's football and basketball Canada has now qualified 8 teams to the Olympics. We are one away from tying our record of nine done at the 1976 Olympics when we were hosts. We have four opportunities remaining... Men's Basketball - If we have our best players I would give us a great chance. Still Greece will be hard to defeat. Men's Baseball - Given our performances at the Pan American Games, the lack of the best players may help Canada. Regardless it'll be tough, but at least we still have two chances, though the addition of Chinese Taipei in the second one may not help. Men's Football - It depends on who comes. Our best team could very well qualify, but that's unlikely to occur. In the end we'll likely have to defeat Mexico or the United States (or Costa Rica) if we want to qualify. Men's Water Polo - Our least likely option. Things were already tough before South Africa decided to take its continent quota. We'd have to defeat one of Croatia/Greece/Montenegro to qualify, not to mention other European teams which on paper should be stronger than us.
  17. I guess we'll wait and see if he has what it takes to become the oldest Olympic athlete.
  18. I meant in general. Argentina had 80 more athletes in their Olympic team between 2012 and 2016 (Golf/Rugby Sevens only accounts for a small portion of that difference). 2020 will have more than 2012, but it'll be a drop from 2016 even taking into account women's handball.
  19. Given what happened to Brazil, South Korea had a 2/3 chance to be in a favourable draw. For other sports, it also helps that one of the continent's powerhouse is the host. We saw it in 2016 where it was Argentina in particular (though United States and Canada too) that benefited from the absence of Brazil. In the end it was the relative poor performances of traditional European powerhouses that gave South Korea an opportunity. Even if we went back to the format we had in 2016 we would have seen get the first three spots while fought for the final two spots.
  20. Assuming no surprises, this will be South Korea's first appearance since 2008.
  21. Yeah while it was clear that Costa Rica were going for a penalty kicks, Canada didn't exactly threaten Costa Rica or even play well.
  22. Canada holds on to defeat Belgium. Just need a win against Sweden or Japan to qualify to the Olympics.
  23. Huge win for Puerto Rico, Brazil needs to somehow defeat Australia or France to have a chance at qualifying. Japan defeated Sweden 75-54
  24. That's correct though I don't know why they couldn't host a final tournament to decide the last quota.
  25. Six hours would have been doable. There must be some kind of labor laws against this, though since it's freelance I guess there's not...
