  1. It looks like Pakistan has been awarded a universality place in women's 200m. It's the only place awarded so far according to World Athletics. Link
  2. As Europe already qualified an athlete in men's and women's trampoline, no continental quota will be available.
  3. Top four unqualified teams in the synchro events. As for the individual events, anyone who made it to the semi-finals (assuming they are eligible) will qualify then the next best athletes will qualify depending on how many extra places remain (it depends if the athletes in the synchro events also compete in the individual event). Basically for each individual/sychro pair 34 athletes will compete.
  4. 19 nations fighting for 16 quotas, the numbers seem split enough that we may avoid having to reallocate the quotas. Vanuatu has been competing in rowing for a while now. No doubt they have applied for a tripartite quota. If he can finish ahead of the other tripartite nations (Iraq and Kuwait) it'll make a strong argument for him. However, he didn't perform too well at the 2019 Worlds, only finishing ahead of the UAE (though most of the nations competing here didn't compete there)
  5. Why would they deserve it more? It's also not like they will get to compete against the big teams, they have already qualified and it is very unlikely they will qualify to the Commonwealth Games over Sri Lanka/Bangladesh.
  6. I think you are being too harsh on them. Depth would no doubt be a question, but the runner-up of the West Indies tournament should easily be able to handle the likes of Tanzania/Samoa/Malaysia. At the very least they should get a chance to show whether or not they have the strength to do so.
  7. I wonder if they will let any of the losing West Indies teams compete in the final qualifier. I'd give them a decent chance at defeating Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
  8. Canada has withdrawn from the World Relays. At this rate there may not be a lot of quotas left on the rankings list as the top 8 here may end up being very different than the top 8 at the 2019 World Champs
  9. Wouldn't the French quotas (assuming North Korea withdraws) be reallocated to the European qualifier? That would mean 9 quotas will be available for the women's ranking (Balazova would be qualified in the singles)
  10. If countries can decide which version of lawn bowls to focus on they would have more than enough nations to be eligible for the Olympics. Of course with Olympics wanting to attract a younger crowd, boules will likely never make it to the games.
  11. No, mixed doubles players don't automatically compete in the singles. For every mixed doubles athlete not qualified in singles a reduction of the world rankings quota occurs because we can only have a maximum of 86 men and 86 women in table tennis.
  12. Australia has withdrawn from this event. They would have likely qualified in the two 3m synchro diving events and a second men's 3m springboard.
  13. Nice to see Canada with a medal chance on the men's side, even if it's due to the crazy rules and doping
  14. I'm of the opinion that all Olympic events should have at least 12 entrants (especially if you are going to give continental quotas). If the quality of the field isn't strong enough to justify this then it shouldn't be in the Olympics. Fencing team events have enough depth to justify 12 entrants.
  15. When you think about it only 18 nations get to compete in each individual fencing event. That's pretty strict.
  16. Funny that Algeria was the overall 1 seed after the pool round in only one event
  17. Correct, Portugal just barely snuck in so the two quotas will go to them.
  18. R.I.P. The Super League April 18th 2021 - April 20th 2021
  19. As Fonseca already qualified in the singles, an extra quota will be available via the world rankings
  20. Puerto Rico withdrew from mixed doubles. Brazil are now the big favourites.
  21. Pretty much, without a qualifier there isn't a fair way to do this. Like if we don't use the rankings the only other options are a) No one goes or b) The IOC/Whoever is in charge of boxing appoints athletes.
  22. Considering that the rankings for Pan American nations are based on results from almost two years ago there are a lot of reasons why we won't get to see the best athletes in our continent compete.
  23. How does gender equality factor into this? It's not like they are hosting the men's events and not the women's. "Continental inequality" would be a better term.
  24. Yeah, it's not as simple as dividing the population or GDP and getting a number. Especially when you consider the vast differences between nations. We have nations ranging from tens of thousands to over a billion
