  1. My list Athletics - Priya Mohan (400m), Jeswin Aldrin (Long Jump), Praveen Chithravel (Triple Jump) Badminton - Lakshya Sen Archery - Sachin Gupta, Ridhi Phor Fencing - Taniksha Khatri
  2. Athletics – Qualification system not out yet but perhaps it will be similar to 2020 with qualifying marks and ranking. Expecting 25-30 athletes to qualify Archery – Team qualification changed from 2020. Now team quotas available via World Championships (3), Final Qualification Tournament (3), one each from Europe, Asia and Americas, 2 from Rankings. Pessimistic on team qualification but individual qualification should be a cakewalk Badminton – Same as 2020. My expectations are Lakshya Sen and Kidambi in Men’s Singles, PV Sindhu in Women’s Singles, Satwik-Chirag in Men’s Doubles, Gayatri-Treesa in Women’s Doubles if they can reach top 25. No one expected in Mixed Doubles Boxing – One weight class reduced to 7 among men and increase of one weight class to 6 among women. Reduction to overall quotas by 38. Minimum 10 quotas should qualify Track Cycling – Qualification system not out yet, but hopeful for Esow Alben to qualify if he can maintain top 30 either in Sprint or Keirin Equestrian Eventing – Top 2 individuals from Group G zone (South and South east Asia, Oceania) those who didn’t qualify in team. Fouaad Mirza should qualify, not sure how good riders in Dressage and Jumping Fencing – Same as 2020. Top 2 individuals from Asia to qualify via ranking those not qualified in team, one to qualify via qualifying tournament. Bhavani Devi to qualify if she can be consistent. Dark horse could be young Taniksha Khatri in epee. She is just 18 and finished in 12th in recent Asian Championships Hockey – 5 Continental Champions plus 6 to qualify via Qualifying Tournaments. Both men’s and women’s teams should qualify Golf – Same as 2020. Two each from men and women should qualify Judo – One quota reduction in each weight class. One judoka should qualify via Continental quota Rowing - One boat should qualify via Continental quota Sailing – 20 quotas reduction and change in events. The same of sailors who qualified in 2020 should qualify in 2024 again. Even if no sailor qualifies, India can qualify via the ‘Emerging Nations’ quota Shooting – Significant change from 2020 where quotas no longer available in World Cups but in World Championships and Continental Championships. Another change is that only quota can be available per tournament per event. India can earn quotas in World Championships, 2 Asian tournaments, and one Olympic qualification tournament. My estimation is that 14-18 quotas Table Tennis – Qualification system not out yet. Two male paddlers and Manika Batra should qualify. One more female paddler can qualify. Hopefully the federation mess clears out quickly. Hopefully team qualification can also occur Tennis – Similar to 2020, but not sure if any player shall qualify Weightlifting – Reduction in 76 quotas, with only 5 quotas per gender down from 7 each in 2020. There’s no change in Mirabai Chanu’s weight class 49kg. Jeremy Lalrinnunga’s weight class 67kg is no longer available and he either has to move to 61kg or 73kg. Wrestling – No major change in qualification process. Minimum 7 wrestlers should qualify
  3. I think there is serious suspicion with Aishwarya Mishra with respect to doping. This is totally unacceptable of not revealing one's whereabouts. https://www.thehindu.com/sport/athletics/where-is-aishwarya-mishra/article65401709.ece

  6. Do you see anyone realistically qualifying in Tennis in 2024. Or is there any exciting young prodigy
  7. Has anyone here applied for tickets for the World Cup or is intending to go to Qatar during that time. Has anyone researched the accommodation room prices
  8. I am little confused about the badminton team selected for Commonwealth Games. Is Ashwini Ponnappa only playing in Mixed Doubles. Are we making any temporary doubles pair like Kidambi-Sumeeth or Sindhu-Ashwini
  9. Is Shruti Mishra an able partner for Tanisha Crasto. They have done well to reach the top four in WD.
  10. All good things must come to an end. The badminton revolution in India started from Saina Nehwal and she has a legacy. Hope she retires gracefully and her legacy remains intact
  11. Does anyone have news on Harmilian Bains, Muhammad Anas, Kamalpreet Kaur's reason for non-participation in domestic season. Also why is emerging 400m runner Priya Mohan ran in 200m in Federation Cup
  12. @Prashanth @Fly_like_a_don @nitinsanker What are your opinions on India's next generation of shuttlers especially on the following players Men's Singles - Kiran George, Meiraba Luwang Maisnam Women's Singles - Aakarshi Kashyap, Malvika Bansod, Aditi Bhatt, Samiya Farooqui Men's Doubles - Ishaan Bhatnagar + Sai Prateek Women's Doubles - Ashwini Bhatt + Shikha Gautam Also has Pranaav Chopra retired?

  15. What is the probability of them qualifying for 2024 Olympics
  16. I don't think rowing is a priority for IOA, as we are going win a quota anyway. Also the boat is expensive and the main training centers are at Army locations.
  17. The World Championships start from next week which is more important. Perhaps shouldn't gauge form from this tournament, to prepare for the Worlds evident from the number of retirements. True that Sindhu is not technical and graceful
  18. Manika Batra and Sutirtha Mukherjee could be suspended by ITTF https://www.news18.com/news/sports/international-table-tennis-bodys-integrity-unit-looking-into-manika-batras-allegation-against-coach-soumyadeep-roy-4372613.html
  19. Its not the nationals but BWF approved India International Challenge tournament held in Bangalore. Women's singles saw few upsets and Uber Cup squad players and other hopefuls like Aakarshi Kashyap, Mugdha Agrey, Samiya Farooqui lost to lower ranked opponents. Even Men's Singles had few upsets like top seeds Subhankar Dey, Kiran George and Chirag Sen losing early in the tournament Women's Doubles final will be interesting as its between Uber Cup squad players - Treesa/Gayatri vs Panda/Crasto https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/tournament/fe0cd556-c923-4747-b979-4402490ef3d7
  20. Very impressed by the next generation of young female shuttlers with s convincing win over Scotland yesterday. There was dearth of young female singles and doubles players for a long who could challenge and take the mantle from Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Ashwini Ponnappa. But the new crop of Malvika Bansod, Aditi Bhatt and Rutuparna-Tanisha look promising. Rutuparna-Tanisha even defeated the 49th rank Scottish pair. It was also a good debut for 16 year old Tasnim Mir. Now they shall play the fancied Thailand team, lets see how it goes.
  21. Can anyone analyze medal winning chances of each of our 54 member strong Paralympic contingent
  22. There was a simultaneous tournament to be played in Toronto against Pakistan which was the Sahara Cup, a 5 ODI series. BCCI actually held an intra-team match to decide which players would go where. The losers would play in CWG while the winners would go to Canada. Unfortunately, India failed miserably in both; lost 4-1 in Toronto and couldn't qualify for the quarters finishing behind Antigua and Barbuda in the group
  23. Indian audience seems to be targeted by the IOC. The Olympic website was providing India specific news and updates and also had a language option of Hindi. Even in social media like Youtube and Twitter, a lot of India specific and Hindi language content was produced. Coming to cricket, I think ICC also believes 2032 is more realistic but want to make the groundwork by then. Australia as a host makes more sense with iconic stadiums like MCG, SCG, Adelaide Oval and Gabba
