Yea, but they are working the ICF overtime for the extra spot. In theory they could name LVL in the kayak event and ask the ICF to compete in the C2 (not sure if that is even possible), because they have 5 athlete spots for 4 athletes (their k2 athletes are not going to qualify).

Sadly, not the case here. "Unused Host Country Place(s) will be reallocated to the NOC of the next highest placed boat in Single Sculls in the respective gender at the Asia-Oceania Continental Qualification regatta that has not yet qualified a boat for the Olympics at either the World Rowing Championships or the Continental Qualification regatta." Not sure if there are any boats left. If there isn't then only would get the spot.

Do both those boats have the same coach? If so I bet it was the coach's idea to go fast all throughout. Both should have qualified.

also qualified the most boats since Atlanta, which happened to be the most successful games for the sport (6 medals). If Canada comes anywhere close that number, that would be amazing!

Pretty impressed with the results. Not one person thought any boat would qualify, but I was expecting all 3 to do so. 2 of the 3 boats (m4 and m1x) had never raced internationally in a senior event till this competition. Both boats were competitive here and perhaps can be outside medal chances. Men's rowing in Canada was a disaster after Rio... and to qualify 4 out of 7 boats (only 2 in Rio) is a testament to the future of the sport here.
