I like this. You should post it every week without fail. Most of time reading this I get to know about a couple of events which I would have missed otherwise.

National Team 2023 Selection is over,
Top 3 in each category will represent Slovakia at major events this year as well as fight for the Olympic quotas - if successfull only one of these 3 (and best of them in internal qualification) will have the right to participate in Paris)
M C1
Michal Martikán out again from the NT, which means he will not compete in Paris whatever happens. He will be 44 next year... and according to his words to our TV (he was really really sad), it is not over, he will still try to qualify for LA´28 to definitely retire from the sport as Olympic champion
M K1
W C1
W K1

National Team 2023.
Složení reprezentačního A týmu:
C1 ženy: Gabriela Satková, Tereza Fišerová, Tereza Kneblová
K1 ženy: Tereza Fišerová, Amálie Hilgertová, Antonie Galušková
C1 muži: Jiří Prskavec, Václav Chaloupka, Lukáš Rohan
K1 muži: Vít Přindiš, Jiří Prskavec, Jakub Krejčí
Qualification selections to Olympic Games is different than in Slovakia. In Czech, they receive some special points which help and will add it to next year qualification local race selections.
But what is surpised that Prskavec decided to start and qualified in both K1 and C1

Josh reacted to Swewi in Women's Football FIFA World Cup 2023
no goals except penalties in the whole playoffs. But at least they won a game in full time. Better than when Portugal won men's euro.
Swedens silver in Rio was quite similar too, except that didn't win.
with that Said, they Did what they had to do to beat 3 strong teams in the playoffs and that is what counts - unfortunately

How did Vietnam qualify? I mean, cool for them that they did, but at least today they seem to be barely able to kick the ball (I'm sure they can do better than this, but I didn't have time to watch their other two matches)

It isn't justified to say it's accidental, but I feel like they kinda escaped a few times here and there at the Olympics. After watching the groups, Canada winning was a big surprise to me, I would have expected England (GB), Netherlands or Sweden to win it.

Since we talk comebacks, my club Ruch Chorzów returned to the top flights after six years absence and we got our first win (2-0) on Matchday 2 vs fellow promoted team ŁKS Łódź on Friday.

Today world cup qualifying draw Round 1 & 2 for AFC was carried out, with matches starting from this OCT FIFA window.
Round 1 is a knockout format while Round 2 is a Round-robin based, with top 2 from each group qualifying for Round 3 .

Italy and Turkey is very weird joint bid for me , even weirder than Rumors that linked Israel with UAE and Bahrain joint bid for 2030 WC , but it'd be fun that West meets East

and it finally happened. Last night.
After looong and embarassing 8 years, Košice (the second biggest city of the country) finally returned to the top tier championship, and what a return it was.
Yesterday in the 1st round we hosted as the newly promoted team the reigning champion, the arch-rival Slovan Bratislava.
More than 5 000 spectators and great atmosphere. despite the final result 0-0 it was a great evening Now hopefully we will be able to avoid relegation, after when we returned from 8 years hiatus lol

Well, that's one way to take care of vertebrae rehab?
In other news, since Muchova didn't win FO, Beatriz Haddad Maia is guaranteed to debut in Top 10 on Monday. Also Elena Rybakina moves into CH #3 so the three best players of the last few months are ranked 1-2-3 now.

And now she won her first ITF professional title at W25 Kursumlijska Banja, Serbia.
She came from qualifying and had wins in the main draw over the likes of no. 354 Reyngold, no. 189 Grammatikopoulou, no. 323 Bayerlova, and no. 299 Dinu. She won 7 matches in total and only lost one set.
Dimitra will now move up from her current ranking of 670 to around 475 in the WTA rankings.

Josh reacted to Makedonas in Tennis 2023 Discussion Thread
Now she won a W25 in Serbia from qualifying without dropping a set (Emma Raducanu who?), so this result doesn't seem out of the ordinary and she will be ranked around 360 after Wimbledon (and potentially higher depending on how she does this week in Spain).

Speaking of juniors, 16 year old Alina Korneeva just won the ITF 100k event in Figueira da Foz 6-0 6-0 in the final over Carole Monnet and could make the cut for the USO qualifying next month. As if Mirra Andreeva is the only 16yo Russian who will make waves on the big circuit. I wouldn't rule out Korneeva making some run now that she is probably done with the Junior Slams etc.
