  1. Entire team is in tears. I am too No national team volleyball for Canada until summer 2025. Edit: Talking about the women of course, the men still have week 3 of VNL, and the Olympics.
  2. sweep to finish off their Olympic quad Great resilience from the French team in set 3, saving multiple set points.
  3. Bump attack from Van Ryk at 4-3 in set 3!
  4. Bah carrying the French team right now.
  5. What? Mitrovic is in? Um. Edit: Not that I’m against it, BUT WINZER WHY DIDN’T YOU DO THIS AGAINST NETHERLANDS WHEN JOHNSON WAS PRODUCING ERROR AFTER ERROR
  6. Brooke Henderson and Alena Sharp have qualified for the Olympics in women’s golf! Men’s Olympic spots still to be decided…
  7. Sorry who? Bingham, while she might be injured and may miss Paris anyways, is currently inside the World Ranking quota on the Road to Paris site. If it’s not serious she could still qualify. Edit: no McBride either.
  8. Klay Thompson has unfollowed the Golden State Warriors. Aka, he’s gone. Unsurprising with the way he’s been playing lately, but still… first season since 2011 (when he got drafted) that he won’t be on our team.
  9. Is this a joke? Where’s Kia Nurse?
  10. Harry Jerome Classic is tomorrow. Fingers crossed for some good performances. Makachi Murray in the men’s 100m, Ella Clayton, Alyssa Marsh, Kyra Constantine, Madeline Price, Grace Konrad in the women’s 400m, Abdullahi Hassan, Matti Erickson, Zakary Mama-Yari, Charles Philibert Thiboutot in the men’s 800m, Aurora Rynda, Madeleine Kelly, Jazz Shukla, Lucia Stafford, Addy Townsend in the women’s 800m, Kieran Lumb in the men’s 1500m, Kate Current, Celi McCabe, Madeline Kelly, Jazz Shukla (probably will withdraw from one or the other) in the women’s 1500m, Thomas Fafard and Charles Philibert Thiboutot in the men’s 3000m, Alycia Butterworth in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, Tatiana Aholou and Michelle Harrison in the women’s 100m hurdles, Craig Thorne in the men’s 110m hurdles, Zoe Sherar and Jacqueline Madogo in the women’s 200m, Django Lovett in men’s high jump, Rachel Hyink and Heather Abadie in women’s pole vault, Sarah Mitton, Grace Tennant, and Liv Sands in women’s shot put, Julia Tunks in women’s discus throw, Jeremiah Nubbe, Rowan Hamilton, and Adam Keenan in men’s hammer throw, Kaila Butler and Jillian Weir in women’s hammer throw, and Elizabeth Gleadle in women’s javelin throw. No Metivier or Newman.
  11. 8. But still very disappointing.
  12. I’m happy, because with that, it means the IOC won’t add any mind games (“sports” if you can really call it that) to the Olympics in the future If CBC Sports (Canadian Olympic broadcaster for anyone wondering) had even a single minute of chess on I might lose it
  13. Canadas women’s sitting volleyball team looks to be completely out of form. Mind you, one of our top attackers Jenn Oakes is out injured, but still very concerning for our Paralympic medal hopes. Let me start off by saying Canada is the current #1. World Super 6 has been going on in Nancy, France this week, I believe it’s the Paralympic venue actually. Canada got demolished by China in straight sets (China is a medal contending winning team, but not this good), then crushed France in straight sets (mediocre team, only qualifying because they’re hosts), lost to Italy in straight sets (unacceptable IMO) after leading 24-18 in set 2, and now lost to Brazil in straight sets (same as the China statement above)
  14. All nations can grab a 2nd quota through their respective continental Olympic Qualifiers (assuming they’ve already qualified one pairing through the Olympic Rankings) Only rule is you can’t use pairings that have already qualified for Paris, otherwise you’ll probably be seeing Mol/Sørum for and Ehlers/Wickler for
  15. CEV Nations Cup - Men’s Quarterfinals (very weird scheduling, I’d say) v. v. v. v.
  16. CEV Nations Cup - Women’s Semifinals v. v.
  17. Was confused on who Carol was, until I clicked onto the profile and realized that it’s Wozniacki
  18. Even 50 Olympic medals wouldn’t make up for this disaster That’s how much it meant to me.
  19. I believe that idiotic FIVB commentator also told her “it’s over” near the end of the interview. He’s not wrong obviously, but he doesn’t seem to understand that’s not the time to be saying something like that… Or maybe he’s a fan and just doesn’t seem to care (still have some compassion buddy)
  20. Still struggling to find words after what happened earlier today, but I just wanted to congratulate all of the users on here for the Olympic quota. It’s going to take some time to recover from the heartbreak, but I genuinely am happy for you all. I still think Canada is more likely to cause some upsets had they made the Olympics though. @CCB @Jinzha I know how much it means to you two, and in the end the Netherlands played better than Canada so... We had our chances in the 1st and 3rd sets (… 16-11 up) but couldn’t take either one of of them. @Dennis @Noorderling29 @heywoodu congrats as well! @rybak @Adriano @Laraja @copravolley thank you for all of the support, sorry we couldn’t back it up with Olympic qualification I am wondering if Mitrovic got injured during practice, Johnson was making error after error (only decent thing she got going was her blocking) and yet somehow Winzer still never subbed her off Still, I think the work that Winzer has done over the last couple of years has been phenomenal, Canada’s women’s volleyball team has made major strides, and we were this close to making the Olympics for the first time since 1996 twice (thanks Serbia/Netherlands ). Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve seen of them. Really wish that Gray/White (and the rest of the team besides loser Johnson, who was a liability on defense/passing/attacking today ) will stick around for another Olympic quad, but Gray is 29 and White is 30 so it isn’t looking likely. Larson is still playing at 37 though, so it’s possible. Depends on a number of factors.
  21. @PatyOlympic what would it take to bring KYK out of retirement?
  22. It’s not happening lmao.
  23. Stupid jinx not working when I needed it the most
