  1. Mehdi Frere (athletics) Banned for two years due to a whereabouts failure, he’s expected to appeal before the Olympics start. He was selected to the French Olympic team for the marathon.
  2. Vincent is entered in two events, as two athletes are able to compete in the individual event this time around, unlike Tokyo. Gracenote has been known to lowball Canada in terms of medals usually, I think it’ll be much higher than that (not 28-29, more like 25-26) I’m doing a preview of our medal chances in about a week on this club, with an in depth overview, but I agree with a lot of this. There’s some changes I would make, but
  3. You make some good points, but I feel like it’d take an awful lot to go right for that to ever happen
  4. Dunfee, DeGrasse, and Warner likely won’t be in the Olympic village until later on. Oleksiak and MacNeil will both compete the day after (and with a late opening ceremony might choose to skip it in order to prepare), Liendo, McIntosh, and SGA hundreds of miles away in Lille. Fleming and Black are options for the women, but not sure who they’d go with for the men. Hoag is a solid pick, maybe Margelidon/Gauthier Drapeau will be considered as well? Welcome to Totallympics by the way
  5. 19.98 SB for Andre DeGrasse in the men’s 200m
  6. 70.20m for Mykolas Alekna in men’s discus throw at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial! @Biathlonfan
  7. Sophie de Goode (rugby sevens) And just like that, our hopes for a medal just took a MASSIVE hit
  8. team update (July 2024) 5 athletes in 5 sports and 5 events. Equals their Tokyo total. https://www.sanmarinolivenews.com/notizie-sport/san-marino-presenta-il-suo-dream-team-per-le-olimpiadi-di-parigi-2024/ Current Quotas Myles Amine - Men’s -86kg Freestyle (Wrestling) Alessandra Perlii - Women’s Trap (Shooting) I still have vivid memories from watching the mixed team trap gold medal match at Tokyo, I hope Perlii can win another medal in Paris Amine is going to his second Olympic, after debuting in Tokyo, and Perlii is going to her fourth Olympics, following appearances in London, Rio, and Tokyo. New Quotas Alessandra Gasparelli - Women’s 100m (Athletics) Loris Bianchi - Men’s 400m Freestyle (Swimming) Giorgia Cesarini - Women’s Individual (Archery) San Marino has received universality quotas in swimming, athletics, and archery. Cesarini, Gasparelli, and Bianchi will all be making their Olympic debuts. For San Marino, it’ll be the 4th time they’ll be present in archery at the Olympics, 10th in athletics, and 12th in shooting. Forza San Marino!!
  9. I went with Not feeling confident about Canada’s chances (as usual)
  10. 81.87m for Ethan Katzberg in men’s hammer throw at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial!
  11. Doesn’t it start on the 24th?
  12. I’m curious. Who are your picks for Canada’s opening ceremony flag bearers at the Olympics? All athletes that compete the next day are pretty much ruled out (ex McIntosh, Oleksiak, and especially SGA as their first match is hundreds of miles away) and of course there’s some that aren’t even in the Olympic village. For the women, I think it’ll be Ellie Black. Not sure about the men, maybe one of our judoka or volleyball players?
  13. Even if he is able to compete in the decathlon, doing it after missing a month of training isn’t the smartest thing to do. Risks more injuries.
  14. Lighter schedule for me before the Olympics begin, which means more time for Netflix On tap for the next two weeks we have… Copa America, Euros, FIVB Elite16 Vienna, athletics meets, Wimbledon, more tennis meets, Men’s Volleyball Pre-Olympic Exhibitions, and Basketball Pre-Olympic Exhibitions. Edit: Forgot about 3x3 and the Sport Climbing WCs
  15. I’m not the hugest fan of it either, it doesn’t compare at all to any of the last few Olympics OBS intros. I agree about the graphics, they’re quite nice.
  16. Just started the Canadian Olympic qualification overview earlier today. Should be out on this thread anywhere from Thursday to Saturday, potentially earlier/later though (really depends on how fast I can get it done) Medal overview should be out by at least July 21, but again could be out earlier/later (at the very least July 23)
  17. Usually I would do the same, but during the Olympics (and Paralympics) I’m ditching all of my friends in order to watch everything Actually I might have some of them over to watch some Olympic basketball (only during the 12:00pm PST time-slot), but that’s pretty much it given they aren’t interested in anything else (might need to get some new friends ) They’re more into hockey, baseball, soccer/football (not trying to anger any Europeans/South Americans on here), and American football.
