  1. Eh. Germany played really well today but I thought they were unlikely to cause the upset with how well Canada have been playing, and the fact that they don’t have Orthmann (still recovering from injury?) and Drewniok (who retired from the national team again after week) on the team.
  2. Canada sweep Germany during match 6 of Women’s VNL, improving their record to 4-2! With that we increase our lead to 13.7 points over Netherlands for the final spot at Paris! (Although Netherlands do take on a depleted Dominican Republic squad early tomorrow, which should close down the gap momentarily) Canada played really well today. 54 attack points, 8 blocks, 7 aces, 6 opponent errors, and 11 unforced errors. 6 of the unforced errors were from Kiera Van Ryk Wish we played like this against the United States. Gray was probably the player of the match for us, but Mitrovic has a great game as well, very efficient with her attacking.
  3. sweep 6.52 points towards our World Ranking, increasing our lead over Netherlands for the final Olympic quota to 13.7 points!! KVR put up a few errors near the end (hasn’t been having the best of weeks), but redeemed herself with 4 control blocks on set point, and the game winning swing into the corner.
  4. Alsmeier is so fine
  5. AND WE’VE DONE IT AGAIN!! All four Canadians are through to the 3rd round!! Special shoutout to Andresscu, who recovered from an error prone opening set to upset Kalinskaya in 3.
  6. So many WTF points from Andresscu
  7. Wouldnt mind seeing telemark skiing too. Not a big fan of a mind and skill Olympics though.
  8. Guess we have different opinions on this one. I for one, love semifinals, as it means more swimming to watch Although, for someone like McIntosh that would probably be more beneficial. I’d keep the 82 games of NHL hockey (mainly) and NBA basketball throughout the season, thank you very much Do agree that the NHL playoffs should be finished before June however.
  9. I co-sign For me, I’d say a fair judging system in sports like boxing. Edit: @De_Gambassi added some things that I’d like to put on my list as well. A whole bunch of additional Olympic quotas, and a maximum of at least two athletes in every single individual event.
  10. Canadian contingent also in action at the Stockholm Diamond League on June 2. Sarah Mitton in women’s shot put, Charles Philibert-Thiboutot in men’s 1500m, and Jean-Simon Desgagnes in men’s 3000m steeplechase.
  11. 3:29.74 WL for Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the men’s 1500m! Timothy Cheruiyot 2nd, just .03 behind in 3:29.77.
  12. Fair enough, but he has made the Olympic podium in every single race he’s competed in so far.
  13. Time for Ingebrigtsen’s first 1500m outing of the year
  14. Well actually, there is one name that I would add where Canada is in contention. Big fan of Lindon Victor.
  15. 46.65 WL for Alison Dos Santos in the men’s 400m hurdles Karsten Warholm 2nd in 46.70
  16. What makes you think that? Sure, he didn’t have the greatest of seasons last year, but he’s starting to find his form in 2024. His in season times are around the same as what he recorded during 2021, and his recent 10.09 SB in Ostrava was in damp conditions.
  17. Oh and Anna Hall
  18. The events where Canadians aren’t medal contenders in But I have a big list of athletes I root for in those other events. Alicia Schmidt (… no particular reason of course ) Marie Jose Ta Lou Julien Alfred Agate Caune Kyron McMaster Miltiadis Tentoglou Nicola Olyslagers Laulaga Tausaga Mondo Duplantis Karsten Warholm & Jakob Ingebrigtsen Anthonique Strachan Jakub Valdjech Mutaz Essa Barshim
  19. In some events, yeah. Other events not so much
  20. Nothing, it just helps improve DeGrasse’s hopes for a medal
  21. Hopefully not
  22. 9.94 for Akane Simbine in the men’s 100m. Still undefeated in 2024.
  23. Too excited, as you can probably tell
  24. NR & WL & MR & PB for Hagos Gebrhiwet with a 12:36.74 in the men’s 5000m! Second fastest time in history.
