There’s a couple of things that I picked up on from the article. 1. McIntosh likely won’t be competing in either of the 4x100m freestyle relay or the 4x100m medley relay. OK, the 4x100m freestyle relay is possible, but there’s not much of a gap between her and the other four women (MSH, Oleksiak, MacNeil, Ruck) and the coaches would be dumb to wear her out even more for her individual events and the 4x200m freestyle relay. 2. They say LePage is injured and might not be at his best, which sort of makes sense, but why would he put that meme on the last slide of his recent Instagram post then?

Gracenote projection now has us finishing with 6 golds and 20 total medals now Ridiculous. They have Katzberg winning silver though so I can’t really take them seriously.

It’s her best medal chance on the first day, and she’ll be fresh so I don’t see why not. If she can pace her race well she might be able to push Titmus, otherwise she could finish anywhere from silver to 4th. Given her rigorous schedule it’s unlikely we see her do the double with the 4x100m freestyle relay. MSH, Oleksiak, MacNeil, and Ruck will make up the finals lineup probably.

McIntosh could beat Titmus for gold.

Diamond League action is back this week! On July 7, the Paris Diamond League (entries still TBD), and on July 12, the Monaco Diamond League! At the Monaco Diamond League, we have the long awaited debut of Christopher Morales-Williams, who’ll be competing the men’s 400m, Marco Arop in the men’s 800m (very intriguing head to head with Wanyonyi), Alysha Newman in women’s pole vault, and Lucia Stafford in the women’s 2000m. Some events only have 6 athletes entered (women’s 100m and men’s 200m in terms of Canadian potential), so while I believe most of the entry list has been announced, I don’t think it’s all of it.

In tennis, nothing is a given, especially at the Olympics. Lots of upsets occur. She is the heavy favourite yeah, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her not win gold (even with her three in a row at Roland Garros, the Olympic venue)
