@hckošice Sorry, you're fighting a lost war. The comment "Gut should do slaloms" is a perfect example. Brignone does slaloms and it doesn't help her whatsover. It's better to be very good at three events and DNS the fourth rather than very good at one and serviceable at three others. Marcel Hirscher proved that for years already, he never needed to enter downhills bc he didn't need to. Hell, he even struggled at parallel events a lot too. So, whatever was good for Hirscher suddenly isn't good enough for Gut? That's pure nonsense.
-
But there is only one person who does all four events and that is Vlhova. Even Shiffrin skips speed races on purpose. So what's the point of finding the best all-arounder when there is only ONE all-arounder to begin with? And quite frankly Vlhova as an all-arounder is light years below Janica Kostelic, Tina Maze, Pernilla Wiberg, hell, even Martina Ertl had more all-around success IMO.
-
Another total disaster at Lenzerheide. Probably not gonna watch any of the rest of events this weekend. Just cancel it all and hand the globes over to Pinturault and Vlhova and fuck off.
It's obvious the tech skiers have a tremendous advantage for the overall over speed speciallists so no, @hckošice is totally wrong here. But since he's biased then it's obvious he won't admit it
-
This season has truly been underwhelming IMO. Just cancel the damn finals and let's move on! This could be as bad when Lenzerheide cancelled the Vonn vs Riesch showdown for the overall to hold the meaningless team event in 2011
It's obvious Lenzerheide is a very bad idea to host World Cup finals.
-
We all know 2032 host will be Brisbane. Just cut the bullshit. Four years of artificial crap. Hail to the transparency!

3.
The latter two I'm probably heavily influenced by watching football for almost 40 years

At least Tennis had had some recent success in attracting the best players. Golf still looks like it’s fighting an uphill battle based on recent reporting.
Golf just isn't a global sport on the highest scale. The 25th best US player is still better than the best player from like 95% of golf countries. No to mention independent Scotland and England teams can't compete at the Olympics which shrinks the best European nation by default.
It's even less competitive for the women where South Korea dominates all, USA is a distant second but still way ahead of everyone else. The one-offs like Lydia Ko don't move the needle. LET is just a glorified second league. It's like those NCAA amateur teams competing for USA at the Olympics when NBA or NHL couldn't field their players as professionals.
-
Barack Obama washed the US hands on purpose and Russia waltzed right in to test their weapons. It was a freebie PR victory for the comrades.
I bet those El-Assad & co. travel bans & asset freezes are sooo important right now Nobody gives a damn about that...

Can't it be in Boxing and Weightlifting, even remove events?
Both full of scandals...
Actually at this point they kinda damage the Olympic Games image a bit.
China has won the weighlifting OG medal table the last five times... IOC is NOT removing one of China's strong holds under no condition. Same applies to diving which I imagine is one of the least popular events during the Olympics. USA might have given up on boxing since everyone goes pro early but it's still huge in former USSR and Cuba. Since they added women's boxing to OG it's not really going away esp. it's one of the traditional sports which is backed by major international players. Tennis and golf are the two most expendable ones since Olympic gold medal isn't the highest achievement in any of the two sports.

Sweden and Finland. (i would say also Germany and Switzerland from the countries that have too many years to host again. Germany's last time was in 1936 and Switzerland's in 1948 )
Not gonna happen in Germany anytime soon IMO. GaPa and Munich residents rejected the OG idea back in 2013 already.
https://www.dw.com/en/voters-deliver-resounding-no-to-munich-2022-winter-olympics-bid/a-17217461
The only reasonable back-up option would be Oberhof since they have both the luge track & biathlon arena in place but I feel like the small Lillehammer-like venues for OG hosts are no longer desireable and viable at the same time. That belongs to the Dolby Surround 90s era but not in the 5K era of today anymore.
Finland became a mere also-run in a lot of winter sports, ski jumping has belly flopped in the last decade, cross country is second-tier even compared to Sweden let alone Norway and if your two best disciplines historically are struggling so badly what's the point of even bidding for the OG?

@hckošice Stoch played 5 Ekstraklasa games so far, got booked twice and his biggest contribution happened earlier today, he prevented a throw-in which led to the opposing team's goal
Watch from ca. 45 second mark:
-
Speaking of preparations for Euro, Miroslav Stoch joined Zaglebie Lubin this spring in order to maybe get back to NT and play at Euros (his own words) but he's playing complete #### so far. Safe to say he won't make it to Euro

Obviously a very poor World Cup season for has come to an end. We truly went out with a bang (4+15) and 22nd place.
No Ostersund, just the Nationals at Duszniki-Zdroj next weekend. And then it's Adam Kolodziejczyk time again, watch us SUCK at the Olympic Games big time. Hojnisz should be the only serviceable member of the team, I have zero hopes that AK will fix whatever is wrong with Kamila Zuk's shooting. We need our own JP Amat and that simply won't happen with Kolodziejczyk's imperial style of coaching.
[/ rant over]

The classic Arnoux blocking job on Prost and James Hunt sums it up to upgrade Murray's reasoning

Seems so, but still I prefer Nowakowska's commentatory over Sikora's one
Yes, there are three races left, sprint, pursuit and mass start in next week.
Well, today they only talked about the coaching purge in the Polish team. They barely managed to focus on the actual race before the first shoot. Jaronski was clearly trying to obtain some inside knowledge from Sikora while on air At least they didn't hold back in saying that Zuk's season has been a disaster and Zbylut has regressed a lot. And they written off the men's team anyway too. Actually Jaronski said nobody would want the Polish men's team job since it's very lousy (duh!)

Then Nowakowska was wrong
Tomasz Sikora was better prepared yesterday when he said Eckhoff would have to win all remaining races to beat that record (there are three individual races in Ostersund IIRC?)

Tiril just broke Tora Berger's record from 2012/2013 of the most winning races in one season by one biathlete, Tora wins 11 races and now Tirli wins 12.
That's most wins by a biathlete. Magdalena Forsberg still has the overall record (14 wins in 2000/01 IIRC).

Sweden will be good again in a couple of years, they have multiple very good talents.
I've seen this script before and it's unlikely to happen. Charlotta Saefvenberg is labouring around while another junior WC Magdalena Fjaellstroem has completely vanished and she beat Gisin and Vlhova at junior WChamps. Sara Hector was supposed to be the next Anja Paerson and that didn't happen either. Sweden has wasted a lot of talent over the years who never quite reached the expectations on the big stage.
That's also the case for other nations, like Jessica Depauli who beat both Shiffrin and Holdener at junior WC or Reto Schmidiger who was like Marco Odermatt before Marco Odermatt. And he fizzled out fast too.
-
Liensberger wins. Now 22 pts behind Vlhova in slalom standings.
-
Riis-Johannessen takes the lead by 0,02.
-
Men's team is hopeless and well, Kamila Zuk has regressed badly this season. That EC gold medal means nothing tbh. Kolodziejczyk coming back is like setting up a funeral
-
What do you expect when someone like Chiara Mair who never finished better than 6th on World Cup gets a first group starting bib? Austria has nobody other than Liensberger and Sweden is totally gone once Swenn-Larsson got injured. Not gonna even mention France who has 33 year old Noens as their #1 since like forever.

In case anyone still gives a fuck, there's more fog with the Super G start delayed by 60 minutes already. I don't care how much money Lenzerheide pays I hope it NEVER hosts the World Cup finals ever again.
This is right up there with 2011 bullshit where they cancelled four individual events but staged the meaningless Team Event.
