Zambia qualified for the women's football tournament? What happened to Nigeria?
-
Third longest women's pro match happened yesterday - Amina Anshba def. Laura Pigossi 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 in Cordoba W25. That took 4 hours and 56 minutes Peak moonballing in progress.

Yulia Putintseva just lost first set 0-6 vs Muguruza in Charleston
-
Former NFL player Phillip Adams killed 5 people (including two children) before committing suicide. I suppose this guy won't make the BLM banners?
-
What? Nia Ali is pregnant again? That's like baby #3 for her?
-
And somehow no red card there. Only 5 yellows in that skirmish

NBC pays a ton of money for the Olympic TV rights. Everyone takes a financial hit during the COVID pandemic and now you want to blow up the TV revenue on purpose? Good luck in depriving Shiffrin, Chloe Kim and whomever else from taking part in these Olympics. Someone tell Joe Biden the Cold War is over. It's laughable that Trump was considered the biggest Chinese enemy and Biden would go ahead with the boycott? He'd get crushed by the sporting community. No way he can be that stupid? The fact this stuff comes out indicates it's a controlled leak therefore they want to know what the public thinks. It's such a stupid decision it's beyond reasonable imagination. The Yalta conference reaps heavy fruit 78 years after it took place indeed!

Look, Petra started out with a bang and then tailed right off to the point she underperformed at the Worlds and had to rely on favorable Lenzerheide to fend off Lara Gut's challenge for the overall. It's obvious she can't handle running all the races physically and she can't risk another poor showing at the Olympics which are the main focus. If Magoni is responsible for pushing her to do the speed races and all that it's no wonder she had enough of him. I suppose she goes back to doing tech races only from next season. She looks so upset with those silver medals in Cortina I think she targets golds & golds only in Beijing.

NY Jets have traded QB Sam Darnold to Carolina Panthers for 6th rd pick + 2nd & 4th rounders next year. So, it's basically official Zach Wilson will go #2 overall in the draft. That leaves either Lance or Fields for 49ers at #3.
Panthers decided that whomever falls to #8 (Mac Jones, Lance or Fields) isn't a better option than Darnold who is only 23yo after all. I suppose Panthers exercise the 5th year option and play him for the next two seasons (unless he really sucks).

It truly doesn't matter if US voters use machines, paper or mail pigeons. For 160 years only two parties have held power in that country The most one-sided democracy ever seen IMO.

Hurkacz beats Sinner 7-6(4), 6-4!
Biggest ATP tournament win for a man since probably Wojciech Fibak beat Guillermo Vilas in Stuttgart 1979

Honda looked even worse than last weekend. They better get M. Marquez on that bike fast. Headcase Miller another 9th place. Zarco leads the championship after two 2nd place finishes.
-
Pedro Acosta wins Doha Moto3 race from pitlane start. I'd say this kid needs to be taken seriously!
John McPhee got an exhaust pipe in the face moment instead.
-
Zbigniew Filip - bib #1 for 10km sprint during 1992 WOG in Albertville (finished 16th with 1 miss - a result impossible for the current crop of men's biathletes in Poland).

This lady really always gets in the 'news' for all kinds of bullshit she thinks of
Must be the pink cap! If she was from Scandinavian countries people would be impressed how a woman can be the head of the skiing federation for over a decade - and without having to rely on politically correct parity rules whatsoever

Some drama at the Russian National Champs in Tyumen. 20yo Alexandra Shimolina who finished 29th in the 30k race did so wearing a Norwegian suit. Elena Vaelbe wants her DQ while Shimolina said she bought the suit in Bjoern Daehlie's online store since Daehlie is her idol

Although court papers have proved that both Riis and Pantani were doping with EPO on a massive scale since at least 92-3.
There were even some rumours that they had some blood in their EPO system
Yes, but dopers are always one step ahead of the controls all the time. Plus most of the 90s was focused on anabolic steroids rather than hormone/blood transfusions like in EPO case. Then BALCO scandal brought the steroids back to the fore front again.

This was the era of Riis, Pantani, Armstrong and the most blatant drug cheats of all time and the most important decision the UCI was to ban riders from having their arms sticking out in front of them...
They outlawed the bike in 1995. The Festina doping scandal which opened the Pantani & Riis can of worms happened in 1998. You can't put a cart in front of the horse

Right, that’s my argument. I’m fine with the shoe technology as long as everyone has fair access to it. If it’s available for the general public and for all competitors, then it’s fine in my books.
You know that's not gonna happen. Some countries/athletes will enjoy a clear advantage in access to the best equipment and this is when the tech progress will be outlawed. Just need some big names to voice their displeasure (like Michael Phelps with the full-body suits).

I have to be honest that I don’t quite understand or agree with the position many people seem to have about the current shoe technology. I get that people think it’s lame that world records and other fast times are falling because of technology, but if the argument is that sports cannot progress for the sanctity of records, then I don’t agree with that position.
History tells us these shoes will eventually get banned. Same happened with Obree's Old Faithful bike in the 90s and the infamous full-body swimming suits in late 00s. It's only a matter of time shoes follow suit
This looked cool 25 years ago until it wasn't cool anymore

Apparently Svitolina and Monfils got engaged Those Grand Slam odds just went up!

Will the minor stand-off in East Ukraine become a major conflict between proxies of US and Russia?
I'm shocked USA has noticed there is still war going on in Donbas
Zelenskiy is obviosly bluffing. USA won't give a damn about Ukraine like it hasn't given a damn the last 10 years already

I guess some people have a vastly different definition of "political crap" as I do because I'm as big a baseball fan as this board probably has and I have no idea what either of you are referring to.
I have no idea either that's why I'm asking

That is strange. I thought Ivory Coast would be seeded higher to avoid playing Nigeria so early.
Zambia isn't even like Top 4 women's team in Africa unless I missed some wonder teenage superstar making things happen for them?
