Η Εθνική ομάδα ανδρών μπαίνει σε ρυθμούς Μεγάλης Βρετανίας και θα ξεκινήσει την προετοιμασία της στο κλειστό του Περιστερίου την Παρασκευή (24/6). Ο Έλληνας κολυμβητής έκανε χρόνο 24:39 στον πρώτο ημιτελικό που του έδωσε την 2η θέση πίσω από τον Αμερικανό Χάντερ Άρμστρονγκ, γεγονός που του έδωσε το εισιτήριο για τον τελικό με την τρίτη καλύτερη επίδοση μεταξύ των δύο ημιτελικών σειρών. Σημειώνεται πως με το χρόνο αυτό ο Χρήστου έκανε πανελλήνιο ρεκόρ (κατέρριψε το 24.49 που που είχε κάνει στο ίδιο κολυμβητήριο, την "Ντούνα Αρένα", στις 17 Μαϊου 2021, κατά τη διάρκεια του περσινού Ευρωπαϊκού Πρωταθλήματος) και έδωσε την ευκαιρία στη χώρα μας να έχει τρίτη παρουσία αθλητή της σε τελικό, σε αυτό το Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα υγρού στίβου.
