  1. Thanks! Happy to say I finished the race. Not proud of my time, but my respect for these professional runners has grown even more. Even those shoes couldn't have saved my race. One of my favorite signs I noticed that a supporter was holding said: "Keep smiling, the East Africans have most likely already finished and you only have 25km to go. You can do this." That was me one year ago when I picked up running in October 2022. This was a bucket list thing, but I started to really love running. Want to join me for next year's marathon?

  3. OK, I'm going to try my best now to get banned by Totallympics here because of politics. Hamas are a group of evil bastards whose only purpose for existence is to kill Jews. The current Israeli government exists only to get cruel revenge of the Palestinians, both the ones who are innocent of war crimes and those who guilty of war crimes. The end.

  5. Sunday October 15th 2023 becomes a dark day for Scottish sport - they were beaten by England 8-3 at mixed curling world champs. Can't think there will have been many occasions when England have come out on top against Scotland in curling.

  6. Injury permitting, I'm 90% certain that Skupski won't be paired with Salisbury - he will instead opt to go with Dan Evans. They have been the preferred GB doubles pair for Davis Cup this year, have performed pretty well together and seem to get on really well both on and off the court. Salisbury will likely have the choice of Norrie, Murray or Draper as his partner and I think there's a good chance he would opt to go with Murray in a repeat of their pairing from Tokyo where they had a decent run to the quarter-finals and were pretty close to getting through to the medal matches. Not sure if that would change your medal prediction.

  10. Hahaha, nothing wrong with being lazy Ah yeah, then maybe not the best idea to go running. Yeah, the knee is an issue for a lot of runners. Maybe swimming or cycling is a better alternative then. I also lightly injured my knee a week before the marathon and they were also the first body part that starts to hurt. It's so insane that there are so many videos on YouTube of people trying to run a marathon without any training. Even if you have the stamina, your knees will hate you forever.

  13. about Tennis predictions don't forget that it will be a tournament on clay just after Wimbledon and before the American hard courts campaign I'll be really surprised if many top players will enter the Olympic event, except maybe for the true clay court specialists right now, for instance, I give Sinner's withdrawal just after Wimbledon 2024 at 1.15, not more than that

I think the top players from Canada will play because there is some prestige there. It was getting them to play in the qualifications that was the problem. Canada has amazing up front talent, but not the depth. It's sort of like our women's swimming relays; our team is a medal contender, but we can't afford to remove many pieces to get to those finals.

  31. Nah, just google hard for news! I think squash has a decent chance of staying on in Brisbane, and at that point might be able to push towards core sport, so long as it is careful on numbers and doesn't get 'greedy' - you could cobble together a full five events with not much more than 100 athletes (8 direct quota pairs in men's & women's doubles brings total number of quotas to 96, and doubles mixed can then go the tennis group and be cobbled from athletes at the games (as can extra pairs in the men's ad women's doubles i needs be)

  32. no, coastal rowing replacing the normal rowing lightweight events is the only approved change for the core sports all the other requests (there were about 16, if I remember correctly) have been rejected so, there shouldn't be any change to the other sports, but with this IOC we will know that only in July 2028

  41. I would say the decision was more motivated by the target market than, "breakdancing simply isn't making enough money." The sports added (outside of cricket, which was added for a different target market obviously) already exist on the American market. Breaking doesn't have the same reach in the United States as American football or lacrosse. As @Laraja noted, the WDSF had to establish an international calendar and formalize the format across competitions. Like any sport, breaking could tap into the American market at some point, but it represents a greater unknown than the chosen six sports.

  43. I was building a relationship with IFAF at the time, so I spent more time at that venue than any other in Birmingham (inline skating being a close second given my personal interests). I must admit I wasn't impressed by the format. I played flag football (8-a-side) growing up, and I think the format we played allowed for more creative plays than the IFAF format. I'd have to watch some replays to remember my full thoughts on the format though.
