Cobi 950 Posted August 10, 2021 #2385 Share Posted August 10, 2021 Only 66.3% of the Spanish population (30M) watched the Olympics. It is the smallest share since we started collecting TV data in Barcelona 92. The record goes back to Sidney 2000 with 93.3% of the population watching at least one event. I assume these numbers coverage traditional TV only, and not any streaming survives (which should push the number a bit higher) ?
De_Gambassi 914 Posted August 10, 2021 #2387 Share Posted August 10, 2021 In France, 50 millions have watched on average 8 hours of Tokyo 2020 (+6 millions from Rio) Sunrise, surprise, the numbers are also good with the youngsters with 90% of the 15-24 having watched some of the olympics. The introduction of breakdancing in three years is already showing some results (official IOC statement) https://www.france24.com/fr/info-en-continu/20210809-plus-de-50-millions-de-téléspectateurs-pour-les-jo-de-tokyo-sur-france-télévisions Cobi
JoshMartini007 2,313 Posted August 10, 2021 #2388 Share Posted August 10, 2021 Yeah, I imagine traditional TV ratings are down, but streaming/replays ratings more than compensate for that drop.

Yes, that number is only considering 4 TV channels: La 1 and TDP (public TV) as well as Eurosport 1 and 2. They didn't include the streaming platforms of both companies, which probably will increase the ratings a little bit more. For example, in TV the most watched event has been the football final, but in RTVE Play (public streaming platform) the climbing final has broken all the records.
