40 NOCs in the medal table already, which is 9 more than in Rio at this stage.

The expected top-three countries are running away early.  ,  and  collecting more medals than five years ago at this early stage (USA 3-5-4, China 3-2-3 and USA 1-0-6). Especially impressive the Americans considering there were no medals won yesterday.

Australia not yet able to get close to their superb start of 3-0-3 and also  Italy having dropped slightly compared to Rio (2-3-2).

Sweden with no medal yet when they had one gold and a silver in comparison. Very impressed by  Tunisia and there are more chances left along the way.

The  Dutch team not looking like they will finish 5th in the medal table and 48 medals total. Have already blown some chances for that. Not to mention being unlucky with Covid in rowing.

    4th place counter*

    (3) -
    (2) -
    (1) -  and the Refugee Olympic Team

*5th places in events that award two bronze medals

Oh, I take my earlier words back: Van Vleuten was heard saying "I thought I was first", according to word on the street

Still, she was definitely still happy when knowing it was silver and rightfully so.

Keep in mind that in one-day events like judo, taekwondo, fencing and so on, they do only show the first round of course, since the potential next rounds aren't in the schedule by name yet, so that's something to either refresh during the day or keep an eye on yourself.

Already 28 countries after Day 1 compared to Rio (20 countries and one event more back then). Having taekwondo early helps.

Australia and USA with the worst start compared to Rio ( 2-0-1;  1-4-0) but no swimming finals have been held yet.
On the other hand, China has started very well in terms of gold medal placing compared to 5 years ago ( 0-2-3).

Had I Imagine that, I wouldn’t have set my alarm clock to be this snoozer.

i understand there wouldn’t be spectators at the stadium, but where are the real showstoppers, the emotiveness, even the corny yet entertaining of an OC? For comparison, I still remember the rendition of “When Children rule the World” from Nagano 1998, and my brain brings back the voice from the kids and the lead singer.

    This is plain bad.

I wanted to look up what it would mean for the teams in R16 to qualify for the QF in terms of their history at the Euros and Worlds, so here's the number of times the teams were in the Top8 at the two most important tournaments, with the exception of a few instances where qualifying for the first round group stage was enough to be in the Top8.

This means that if Portugal doesn't win against Belgium, this will be the first EURO since 1992 that Portugal couldn't reach the QF.

So Wales and Denmark is the weakest R16 match in terms of these (duh). And  is the weakest quarter (also duh).

Well, there you go, if it's a good cause according to the UEFA, it doesn't matter that players bring political symbols to a match.

And what's a good cause? Apparently something that the West cares about because that's where the money is. Ukraine isn't an important market, so their issues weren't a "good cause", their political slogans were too much for UEFA and got removed.

To be clear, I wasn't in favor of what Ukraine intended to do with their jersey. But I am also not in favor of what the Germans are doing. I am also not in favor of Hungarians bringing pre-Trianon Greater Hungary symbols to any match, especially to those where we play against our neighbors. But if you open the door to one of these, you either open the door to all of them, or you will cause a revolt when you pick your favorite political causes for a sport that's literally played by everyone around the world.

"We are striving for open football."

Bullshit. Football isn't an American sport. It's international and it's for everyone. The way to keep football open is to keep activism outside of the matches. What they are doing with this is the exact opposite. What UEFA is striving for is to not fall out of the graces of their most important money makers when they are fighting a war with FIFA.

    Gam-Jeom are the penalties...

in the middle of course you can see the time of the match (timeout means that at that moment the clock was stopped for some reason)...

the icons below the flags are the type of scoring (punch, hit of the body shield, hit on the head -it's a red helmet, which I don't see in the picture)...

the numbers on the shields on the bottom line is the percentage of strenght of the last hits recorded (you need to hit with more than a certain strenght to have the hit recorded as a score)...
  24. Thanks
De_Gambassi reacted to MHSN in Taekwondo WTE European Olympic Games Qualifier 2021
only that "Gam-Jeom" (caution) part matters from the bottom left and right. you are disqualified with 10 of them

those in the left (for red) and right ( for blue) is the recent actions of the match, (for example FRA scored so many back to back body kicks)

and those numbers in the bottom, are "probably" the number of kicks (valid or invalid) that comes handy if the score is tied in extra time.

But you can't change that now as plenty of countries have targeted this meet to qualify. They can argue that there hasn't been enough races available to improve their ranking.

And lets face it, relay rankings are not a great indicator at all
