Following the launch of the sample re-analysis program for the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the ITA reports that the re-analysis of the 2016 samples provided by the following athletes have returned adverse analytical findings (AAF):

• Esraa Elsayed Rashed Elsayed Ahmed, Egyptian weightlifter, provided a sample on 6 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for methandienone (danabol) metabolite. The athlete participated in the women -63 kg weightlifting event at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and finished 7^th.
• Rafael Augusto Buzacarini, Brazilian judoka, provided a sample on 9 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone metabolite. The athlete participated in the men -100 kg judo event and finished 9^th.
• Soslan Daurov, Belarussian wrestler, provided a sample on 12 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone metabolite. The athlete participated in the men -59 kg greco-romain wrestling event and placed 15^th.
• Aurimas Didzbalis, Lithuanian weightlifter, provided a sample on 13 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for methandienone (danabol) metabolite. The athlete participated in the men -94 kg weightlifting event at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and obtained the bronze medal.
• Ivan Efremov, Uzbek weightlifter, provided a sample on 7 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for methandienone (danabol) metabolite. The athlete participated in the men’s +105 kg weightlifting event at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and obtained the 5^th.
• Ivet Lalova-Collio, Bulgarian track and field athlete, provided a sample on 17 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for ostarine glucuronide. The athlete participated in the women sprint 200 meters event and finished 8^th.
• Ahmed Saad, Egyptian weightlifter, provided a sample on 8 August 2016 which, after re-analysis, returned an AAF for methandienone (danabol) metabolite. The athlete participated in the Men’s -62 kg weightlifting event at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and finished 5^th.

I'm not convinced a bronze medal will be awarded. Thailand's team had a poor record on doping after 2016

Yes, it's a third time he got caught, absolutely disgraceful.

That whole generation of Lithuanian weightlifters up to 2019 was coached by Bronislovas Vyšniauskas who ended up getting arrested for possession of numerous doping substances. His son represented Lithuania in numerous Olympics too and got caught after retesting too. It was so obvious that there was a doping issue in Lithuania at that time as our weightlifters kept winning medals in European championships and then suddenly would get injured immediately so they would drop out from testing pool for 12-15 months.... not suspicious at all lol. Although some of them still tested positive later.

It does seem that cases reduced in Lithuania, but at one point Lithuanian antidoping agency was testing almost every weightlifter, bodybuilder and power lifter in the country as cases just ballooned here.

Absolutely no one is taking this seriously here, or as proof of some wrongdoing, when it comes to Ivet Lalova. She has gotten pretty much universal support and that this is a mistake or a complete BS, that probes from a decade ago, which haven't showed any abnormalities, now all of a sudden are doping.

 

The new methods are questioned and why only a selective number of athletes are the ones being tested and not everyone and also how they athletes don't have the chance to defend themselves about such deviations, because so much time has passed. All in all, it's absurd to test stuff from 10 years ago.

Well the whole principle of re-testing after 10 years is to check the samples with advanced techniques that was not available 10 years ago. Sad that dopers getting glorified....
