I had to deal a few times with one of the candidates in my job; she’s an absolute nutter.

He didn't seem overjoyed with his performance yesterday, which might be a worrying sign for those trying to beat him in Paris.

Right then day 1 done, What a poor performance from Aman once again. He just go good draws. It's a pity he'll now go to Paris with this performance. I wish there were trials and Ravi could come in, as he's fully fit now. The only drawback was the fear of upset in women's wrestling there are some who wrestle well at domestic level but poor elsewhere. So Aman being one of the weakest wrestler in the squad I'm not exactly worried. Maybe Ravi missed a chance but that's ok. Anyone thinking Aman will medal would be a fool, he can lose and has lost to more than half of the qualified wrestlers at Paris by technical superiority. Should have kicked him out after Asian Olympic Qualifiers only, has to be our weakest male 57kg wrestler at Olympics since ages like 2004.

Couple of upsets today at the Ostrava Elite16. The big one is Sepka/Sedlak defeating Boermans/de Groot in 3 Also, Samoilova/Graudina beat Duda/Ana Patricia in 3 (prior to today had a 1-7 H2H over them in 2023/24, and a 2-13 H2H record overall), and Pfretzschner/Winter beat George/Andre in straight sets.

They redid the tarmac, which is a good thing, but it's too fresh so there's no grip when it rains - bizarrely, it's not worn enough. Still a bit freakish - in decent weather with dry tarmac it would have been a lovely surface.

For seems like it is going to be a small delegation this time. The smallest since Beijing 2000 and out of 16th appearances at Olympic Games, this would place 12th in size. That would be half the size from Tokyo 2020. Probably no participation in Women Race Walk, first time since Beijing 2000. So far 11 qualified athletes 8 men 3 women. Possibilities only in Judo to qualify by ranking, and maybe two athletes in Swimming, by universality. Kevin Cordón in Badminton and Juan Maegli in Sailing will appear at their 5th Games, tying the most apperances with Francisco Romero in Shooting (1996, 1992, 1984, 1980, 1976)

Floods force slalom changes in Prague The Troja river has reached heights which has made the usual slalom course unrecognizable. As a result, organisers have scrapped Thursday’s competition, and will abbreviate the kayak and canoe competitions. On Friday there will only be one heat of the men’s and women’s kayak, with the top ten in each heat qualifying directly for the final. It will be the same format for the canoe on Saturday. The kayak cross competition on Sunday, which also doubles as the final Olympic qualifier, will be run as usual, but will also introduce a repechage round. It will be a similar format when kayak cross makes its Olympic debut in Paris. Athletes from 38 nations will be competing in the kayak cross in Prague. There will be three Olympic quotas up for grabs in both the men’s and women’s events, and only athletes who have not yet earned their country an Olympic quota will be eligible to compete. The kayak cross Olympic qualifiers will be held on Sunday afternoon.
