  1. I was just watching an interview with a doctor from Iceland (a country I hold with the highest regard when it comes to medical research) who said that if the virus is spreading faster than testing is possible (to keep numbers down), then testing becomes pointless because it’s just better to let the virus run it’s course at that point. I Just thought it was a interesting point of view worth sharing.
  2. Damn, I only got 2/9 @heywoodu. Guess I’m not very Dutch
  3. Claudia was the only one not to lodge an official. result of the South Americans. She didn’t finish the sprint (I don’t know why). Agurto came last on the men’s side in the sprint. Bourguignon came third to last. The other Chileans managed to beat a few European, Asian, and US biathletes coming 84, 85, 86 out of 98 (plus 7 biathletes that didn’t start). Yonathan finished just under 8 minutes behind Lukas Hofer who won the gold medal. The Chileans came 21 out the 22 in the men’s team sprint classification. They beat the Czechs by about 45 seconds, and lost out to the Koreans by about 25 seconds.
  4. Based off the incomplete results I have from 2013, the South Americans present at the games were Claudia Salcedo (CHI), Marco Zuñiga (CHI), Pedro Beltran (CHI), Yonathan Fernandez (CHI), Fabrizo Bourguignon (BRA), and Juan Agurto (CHI). I guess there were no Argentinians in 2013, but I feel like I’ve seen them mentioned in the 2010 or 2017 results before.
  5. Ah, I’ve seen her in the results for 2013 I believe. The Chileans and Argentinians have sent their biathletes before too.
  6. If she’s in the military, you can hit up the military winter games in late March
  7. Yeah, @brunamoura and you will definitely want to read item 5.2.4 on page 28: https://www.fisu.net/medias/fichiers/winter_universiade_general_regulations_20180329.pdf It doesn’t seem like there’s a waiver on the age limit, so Universaide might be off the books (sorry). On the bright side, World Championships
  8. Well they actually went into affect before the last Winter Universaide. I would make sure the BUSF is aware of the change (though I’m sure they are) before you get to the real stages of planning. As I said, I’m there’s special exceptions that could be made, and maybe they already obtained one for @brunamoura. I’d love to see her at the games, so I hope that’s the case. I can provide any other info y’all need. Hopefully this gets sorted out.
  9. So, based off when @brunamoura profile says her birthday is, she is no longer eligible to compete at the Universaides. The rules were amended last year to where you have to be U25 to compete. I did know if you two knew this or not, so I thought I’d tell now. I don’t know if there’s exceptions to the rules, but I could look into that for y’all.
  10. 7,681 new cases in New York so far today. I think we should start seeing around 10,000-15,000 cases a day in New York.
  11. That was a fun one to watch. The moment after her climb was really touching too. I have audio interviews with Yip and Contreras if that interests anyone
  12. My phone loves to autocorrect Covid to Clovis for some reason. I would guess because Clovis is a town in California, and my phone thinks I’m talking about that I do apologize, I thought I’d caught them all. Yeah, I think the World Games might have to move. The current dates would have them ending a week or two before the Olympics probably. Personally I’d for still having next, but just a little further before the Olympics.
  13. Telemark is an enjoyable watch. I might try to sneak in a World Cup or two as well.
  14. Are you (and her) aware of the new eligibility rules?
  15. A 17 year old from my city died last weekend of Covid-19. Well, at least that’s what was reported originally, but it seems like the local, country, and state government is at a disagreement over whether or not it was Covid-19. According to our mayor (who I‘m not a fan of), he had no prior health issues. The big story is that he was originally denied treatment because he didn’t have insurance. He was eventually transported to our public hospital where died a few hours after arrival (it’s worth noting both of our local hospitals (one private, one public) both have received “F” ratings from the national health department in recent years, though I think improvements have been made). The details are still a bit murky, but I thought I’d share this story as it hit close to home. I’m not going to comment on the healthcare thing, because by now all of you should know damn well where I stand on that issue. I will say that I think it’s absolutely embarrassing for our community, which is actually par for the course when it comes to what we’re famous for nationally (we’re known for being a town split with extreme right/left voters, having a huge homeless drug problem, for a cop who faked a sniper shooting to get attention, amongst other crazy shit I can’t remember right now). I love my community (with my entire soul/heart), but living here can be so sad sometimes.
  16. @Vojthas You down for a game of blindfolded balloon curling?
  17. So far 57 NUSFs have registered for Lucerne 2021. More can still register, but I’m not that optimistic.
  18. Time for some multi-sport gossip. Rough week for the IWGA. From what I can gather, José Perurena López, President of the IWGA and the ICF, has tested positive for Clovid-19. I haven’t heard anything about his health status, but he is 75, so he does lie well within the at risk spectrum. It is also rumored that the IWGA isn’t exactly thrilled about Olympic postponement (duh). Rumors are going around that they are considering moving the dates of the 2021 World Games, but I’ve yet to hear of any real dialogue taking place. I’d said chances of postponement/bringing the games forward are fair depending on the dates the IOC chooses for Tokyo2020. It’s been a less than ideal week for the FISU as well. The organizers of the 2021 Winter Universaide release a statement saying that they are monitoring the Covid-19 pandemic, and that they are worried as it has already cancelled multiple test events. From what I can gather, the LOC may already be looking at/considering postponement/cancellation options. I think it will be a few months before any begin decisions are made though. I do believe that this event could face cancellation (mainly because I don’t see postponement as an option) if the Clovis-19 situation doesn’t improve by the end of Summer around September/October. It seems problems relating to Covid-19 aren’t just an issue for the Winter Universaide either. Rumor has it that the organizers of the 2021 Summer Universaide are already looking at date changes to make sure the best athletes can participate at the games. They want to avoid conflict with Tokyo2020, but I don’t actually think moving the games will help honestly. That’s all I’ve got for now. There isn’t exactly a lot of news to follow multi-sports wise these days after the postponement of Tokyo2020
  19. Yes they can . I wasn’t trying to plug my articles by the way, I just remembered about writing them now, and I wanted to know what people think of my debut working media performance
  20. @heywoodu you also need to take into account that when one person in a house gets the virus, then everyone in that house gets the virus. However, that doesn’t just happen at once as @Dennis unfortunately demonstrated for us. It takes time to move through families, and it can move from caretakers to their families. Plus, the virus can live on surfaces for a while, so you can actually get the virus just from buying food prepared by a infected person (though it doesn’t seem like this is happening often, and most experts will tell you that handling food prepared by others isn’t a issue). We also need to remember that people that live apartments can also infect others in their building, and that neighbors can give it to neighbors.
  21. The livescoring at venues isn’t any better let me tell you. I found myself doing a lot of unplanned math during the Pan American Championships. By the way, if anyone read those articles, what did you think?
  22. Pan American Shooting Championships were also postponed/cancelled
