  1. C, A (I know this some how), (Asia, Africa, Europe), B, A
  2. Apparently Los Angeles has submitted a bid for the 2021 World Beach Games. It’s a little confusing though because apparently the bid has actually been submitted by our state ultimate frisbee federation. I haven’t really heard of anyone else been interested in the games as of yet. Hong Kong originally were, but hosting an event there now seems like an accident waiting to happen. California isn’t a great choice because San Diego has to go and royally fuck it up last time (I still haven’t forgiven them for that). I mean Santa Monica/Venice Beach/Manhattan Beach/Newport Beach are some of the most famous beaches, so they’d definitely be up to the challenge, but I’m not sure what the bid looks like. I’d be awesome to be able to go the Olympics and World Beach Games in the same year though. I’d be especially nice if I could land a media credential for the World Beach Games.
  3. This is what it looks like for me now, and I really like. The green outline is subtle enough to not be completely noticeable, but also really helpful in identifying who’s online right now.
  4. Unrelated and unaffiliated is all I have to say about that. The 1010 part of my user name is personal, and honestly rather easy to figure out. I’ve never actually another user (anywhere) with 1010 before, so hi @Topicmaster1010
  5. Not sure if I like. I’ll get used to it over time of course, but it ruins the visual look a little in my opinion. Maybe it would look better in a lighter shade of green, and if it were smaller?
  6. By the way, if anyone happens to have some old spectator guides, ticketing guides, broadcast schedules, qualification systems, etc. sitting around on your computer (or other devices), I’d gladly accept a copy. I’m nearly done with international multi-sport games results from 2009-present (at least based off what I can find, and there’s not many places results could be hiding from me at this point), and so I’m focusing on building up other parts of archive/collection now.
  7. Time to do the family tree on my fathers side. Nielsen v. Nelsen, there’s not a big difference there. Everyone on my dads side (I would be 5th generation American (I think)) has always maintained that the name is Danish, but Norwegian was spoken by my great-great grandmother. That part of the family would have immigrated during the immigration boom of the late 1800s most likely. It is known that two brothers came to the US. Immigration authorities were known for being xenophobic and uncaring. Generally, they just fucked up people’s names because they didn’t care. So it is known that one side of that family got Nelson (the British version of the name) and my side got Nelsen (what we’ve always called the Danish version of the name). Personally, I’ve always thought the original name was Nielsen or something similar. I’ve never met a Nelsen outside my family. We’ll probably never know the truth as no one on my dad’s side seems to care.
  8. The Dutch seem to want to put a great deal of pressure on them. Hopefully they meet the high standards of the Orange Kingdom.
  9. Just heard Kimmann got a concussion after a hard crash in his semi-final (and he’s all good and healthy otherwise). Dutch hopes now rest on Smulders...
  10. Hey! Don’t give Russia any ideas
  11. The gray area now is age limits from what I gather. “Only people older than 15 as of the start of the Olympics can compete.” NOCs seem to arguing for strict interpretation or loose interpretation of some rules like that.
  12. Well, y'all have kind of been leading the strict response in the West (which says a lot about the strong will of Slovakians I might add). Plus you locked down slums. I’m not saying either of those are wrong, I’m just arguing for balance between what seem to be the two very popular extremes in my own country (using other countries as an example).
  13. You can have dual citizenship in the US. In fact there’s no limit, so there are people that are citizens here, and in a few other countries as well.
  14. I’m pretty sure the FIG those who would be technically eligible will be...(I.e birth in 2005).
  15. The Dutch are pretty lenient like California though. I was talking about the Spain’s, Czechia’s, and Slovakia’s of the world.
  16. The amount of people I’ve had to explain this concept to is shocking. People do know that sports law, is still LAW right?
  17. I heard he’s torn between the Orange and the Checkers...
  18. I’ve decided to get through a few films I’ve wanted to watch today. First was the widely acclaimed short documentary “Period. End of Sentence.” That was a nice watch. It happy a tone, and the cinematography was of a good standard. I think the story could have been much more critical, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Also just finished “First They Killed My Father.” Wow, talk about a sob story right there. The cinematography is definitely some of the best I’ve seen out of Southeast Asia. @heywoodu will be happy to know that the entirety of the film was in Khmer (and Vietnamese and French). That films covers some heavy material, and it’s hard to watch as an American knowing that your country had a hand in what was happening. I believe it’s based on a true story, which means some of critiques can be thrown out. There are some “amazing” moments in that film. Plus, I have to tip my hat to the child actors that carry the film. Overall, a solid piece of cinema. I’d give it a 9/10. It’s a shame it didn’t win any awards (at least to my knowledge).
  19. That’s different because of the way their qualification system is worded. The IWF is legally within their right to suspend a country that way, while other federations are not.
  20. Right, that was always known. You can’t just undo law. People who have served their bans will be eligible like it or not.
  21. I feel like neither side is right here. We shouldn’t be like Europe where we don’t let kids go outside, and force everyone to stay in their homes, but we also shouldn’t just write everything experts say off. There needs to be a balance where people can work, and where people can be safe. These idiots will not help us reach that middle ground. California, Oregon, and Washington will be smart about this. I think the national infection rate will rise again, but only time will tell (and I hope time makes me look like a fool who was over cautious). If anything, we’ve proven that we’re not the proud, intelligent, informed, science believing nation we once were. The only positive is to this, is that Californian nationalism is on the rise.
  22. The US numbers are going to climb faster than Reza on a speed wall, and we deserve it honestly. Americans are idiots in the truest sense of the word.
  23. Watched “Les Miserables” (the 2020 class warfare movie, Cannes Jury pick). Not quite sure what to think. We all know I’m a sucker for class warfare stories, but that just lacked something. I think it’s a highly acclaimed movie, but I don’t get it to be honest. I get it’s a “fuck the system” movie, but it just lacks something.
