  1. I didn’t grow up in the 50s, so I don’t understand this reference.
  2. In theory you system is absolutely better, but in practice the Italian government is generally a highly corrupt, out of touch, group of fools (so...no difference to most other democracies). The biggest issue with modern democracy is that we judge people by their personal or appearance rather than their merit, voting history, leadership ability, or moral character. Western Democracy “defeated” the Eastern Communists in the 90s and then got progressively less informed, less involved, and less educated. I will say that the people on this forum give me hope for democracy, and I thank you all a great amount for that.
  3. Doesn’t really make it that much better in fairness . For me, it’s how close he gets to saying some racially insensitive things while speaking. He finds s support among African Americans, but does it survive if he throws out some causally racial references... I don’t think he has dementia, but I do think he’s forgetful and a little bit of a talker. He’s a classic politician in all respects, and it’s not the best image for the left. We could have been so much better, and now the party will have an inner struggle a the way to November. This is why my argument for electing Warren has some merit. The issue is Black voters don’t seem to trust women. They didn’t support Hilary (which is fair TBH), they didn’t support Warren, they didn’t support Kloubchar, and they didn’t support Harris. The last three are some of the best people in the party (in terms of uniting the factions), but they weren’t Obama’s friend. I actually find it difficult to not talk down the Black vote right now because I really struggle to understand the Biden attraction. They made their choice though, and now I have to make mine.
  4. I get that, but for me it’s the feeling of a country/athlete I’m cheering for just winning a medal the matters. It’s so special when a country like Fiji wins a medal, and the moment matters more to me than the ranking. Reporting on medal winning moments is one of the most rewarding and exhilarating parts of sports journalism in my opinion.
  5. Women’s road race is worth a watch. Features one of the most memorable crashes in history, not to mention an outstanding finish.
  6. Nah, I’m easy going, he can be Matt. From now on, I’ll shall be addressed as Xavier Cornelius Hypocrites Napoleon Leonidas Voltaire Mandela Coubertin the Third.
  7. So you like it? I like Find An Island, and I like Glitter. She’s now to the scene, so she still has a unique flavor. Just hoping for a few more songs before the mainstream discovers her.
  8. Really all this proves is that medal counts shouldn't be a big deal. That’s why I rarely bother with reporting on the medal table. I care more about individual moments and competitions, than how high country x ranks on a medal table. Medal tables are fun to look at, but I don’t think they should be taken a seriously as they are.
  9. They did ask the United Nations to continue to be recognized as Serbia, but UN essentially forced them to change their name, so I’d say the Yugoslav medals are Serbian.
  10. And BENEE. I think there’s a few other Kiwi Gals I listen to, but I can’t think of any others off the top of my head.
  11. Ideological differences can strain relationships though. I wasn’t saying that are relationship was terrible, I’m just saying that we can’t talk about a many things we used to be able to. The political environment of the Netherlands is also quite different from the US currently. You’re also not one to be angered by things like politics.
  12. I don’t think Jamaica even has Coconuts
  13. Pretty much tells you all you need to know
  14. There are some Congress reps I’d vote for in an instant. Porter (who should absolutely be our first female president), Murphy, and a few others. The Democratic really suffers from a lack of identity more than anything else. The GOP is a united block. There isn’t the large fractions amongst conservatives that we see among liberals. My family is all liberal. My dad swings just left of center, my mom swings far to the left as a progressive, I swing far to left as a Democratic Socialist, and sister is progressive but rather uninterested in politics unlike the rest of the family. Needless to say this election has put some strains on our relationships.
  15. It was. I was a fun combination though, and it almost got points from me.
  16. Yugoslavia and Serbia are the same thing. Serbia dominated Yugoslav politics. They were the one constituent “republic” trying to keep the country together before the fall.
  17. Whelp, here starts the battle within for the far left between the Greens/DSA and the Democrats. A lot of the far left is indicating their open to voting for Hawkins over Biden, so the Democratic Party might find itself battling the Greens more than the GOP. This is what happens when people make a shit choice.
  18. What was the question again? That’s a nasty question you know that? Raise your hand if you haven’t made a woman uncomfortable on multiple occasions? God, what is wrong with this country. Democracy doesn’t give us a right to be fucking idiots.
  19. There’s a lot to “love.” I really don’t understand how the fuck the Democratic Party decided Biden was the best candidate. I think this actually says a lot of issues about sexism in African American culture...
  20. Yep, but this also fucking hilarious coming from an Italian...
  21. Yep, Concerts is where the money is from what I know. Hey, the hustle is the key to success. As long as you’re making money, you’re winning.
  22. Like you have taste and others don’t . Joking aside, it’s whatever. Just participating is fun enough for me. You, me, @Agger, and @Wanderer should form to the anti-committee to make sure the real best song wins
  23. Artists don’t make money either. Streaming has killed artist revenue. The only people making money are the labels. The music industry has become just as bad as the other major industries out there. I get that marketing and producing are important, but give the artists what they damn deserve.
  24. That would be the least surprising thing I’ve heard all day. To quote @Monzanator “Money is king” (even if I try to fight that culture, it’s still true). Well, I’m always open to an original song from any Totallympian, so hopefully you’re able to record it.
