  1. I like the head-to-head idea, but that will take some planning to pull off.
  2. Yeah we have a lot of people like that in California (more North than South). I have respect for people who believe in natural healing/medicine, but people should vaccinate their kids (since there are no side effects) and listen to doctors.
  3. I do too. It’s the kind of stupid, crazy, weird fun that seems to well on the internet (a la marble racing). And like I said, it gives some community members a chance to try some things they’ve wanted to. Just further clarify, should I go for option 2, would you prefer the “athletes” represent Totallympics nations, or be divided by colors available in Minecraft (16 teams).
  4. Okay, being an anti-vax person is one thing, but not believing in surgery I don’t even get that at all. I hate to say it (because he is a good guy), but he cancelled
  5. There’s too many types of idiots to keep track of these days. At this point, I think I could count the non-idiots on my fingers (I’m not included because I to have been (and can be) an idiot at times).
  6. I’m going to just throw this out here, and see what people’s opinions are... So obviously there’s no Olympic this summer. There’s most likely very little international sports this summer. Plus, there’s the probably there’ll be many us stuck at home voluntarily or ordered to. So I can (attempt) to offer the following alternatives: As some of you know, I like to build mock Olympic Parks and Venues in the video game Minecraft. I’ve hours in the game recreating sports, building venues, etc. I would be down to host a virtual form of Olympics (called the Summer Games so the IOC doesn’t chop my head off) with either one of two possibilities - The first is that I would some of you, or other interested players on to the my servers, and we’d just compete amongst ourselves. The second is a little more complex and silly. I’ve been figuring out how to have a “playerless” Summer Games for a while now, and so I’ve come up with ways to have NPCs (non-playable characters) compete in events. I could host the games this way as well, and the NPCs could represent countries with members on Totallympics. Both of these options would come complete with full “live” streaming, results pages, schedule of events, medal tables, games logo, games mascots, etc. I’ve been looking for ways for myself and @Vojthas to get some commentary practice, and I think this would be a fun way to. I welcome everyone’s opinion to this. I will say that I will not bother with any of this unless some interest is shown from the community.
  7. This is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard for a quiz show. They should all have apps. If HQ Trivia proved anything it’s people would love something like that.
  8. Apparently the global oil market is going through a major crash right now. I don’t know what the consequences of this are, but I’d imagine this isn’t a good thing.
  9. Which is actually highly ironic itself since Singapore ranks quite a bit lower than it should in press freedom. I love when strong-arm governments rail against “fake news” (anything that disagrees or points at problems with their policies). Fake news is a problem, but it’s hard to see when you’re the ones publishing it...
  10. Well, Gantz is dead to every liberal in the West. #Sellout
  11. Great news for the World Games 2022: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1093363/venues-confirmed-for-2021-world-games They’ll hold their venues, sponsorships, and broadcast deals. This gives me such relief and hope these games will happen. I’m still a little worried about the organization of the games, but I’m feeling very relieved that they might still happen.
  12. Today is the 100th anniversary of the hoisting of the first Olympic flag in Antwerp
  13. Oh, I can do that tomorrow (I’m just about to go to sleep right now). I like spectator guides because they often have nice write ups about local places. They generally included a competition schedule and explanation of sports. Plus there’s always some other fun stuff too. The reason I like ticket guides is because it like to see if I could have afforded to attend the games. For instance, Ashgabat 2017 tickets would have cost me $2.25-$5.00USD for most sessions. You could have bought a ticket to that spectacular opening ceremony for like $20USD.
  14. I can easily see Brazilian democracy falling within the next year or two. The questions is, what will Brazilians do about it? Democracy takes work, people have to participate in the system. People have to put forth their best work. People have to stay informed. People need to be the watchdogs. Western democracy is failing because we allowed ourselves to become and lazy, entitled, and uninformed. The early 2000s brought about great progress around the world, but that progress seems to be slowly eroding now.
  15. Also, we have to limit our posts now since this page is on 69
  16. Quiz shows in the US are disappearing a bit too Of course the king of them all, Jeopardy, is still around and in it’s prime. I’ve been contemplating auditioning for the college tournament or regular show. There’s a few categories where I really get the questions, and others still where I don’t even understand the clue
  17. I so want to argue against this, yet, it’s horrifically true (when thought about at a social level). The model of how we treat those who need care in their old age needs to change.
  18. It can also be found in the famous song “Tequila” by The Champs
  19. I think there’s plenty of room for peace though. I think the Muslim block is terrible and Israel is right not to bend to their will, but fire + fire doesn’t = peace. The Israelis could do a lot to improve their global position, such as getting rid of that criminal Netanyahu. The police/army could also try diplomacy with the Palestinians (not Hamas, the Palestinians). The problem is that neither side wants to make concessions, and concessions have to be made for peace to exist.
  20. Okay the drink question surprises me, and I live in a place where it’s extremely popular. The continent question is fucking stupid. What counts as Asia, and what counts as Europe. It’s the same god damn continent, except that classic Europeans scholars were xenophobic, and thought they were the center of the world. Lobster is pretty common in the US, so I can get a pretty good mental picture of one.
  21. The difference is that Trump is a dumb asshole, while Bolsonaro is a calculated asshole.
  22. Netanyahu has got to go if Israel ever wants respect from the Western World (and possibly better relations with the Islamic block).
