  1. Well, y'all have kind of been leading the strict response in the West (which says a lot about the strong will of Slovakians I might add). Plus you locked down slums. I’m not saying either of those are wrong, I’m just arguing for balance between what seem to be the two very popular extremes in my own country (using other countries as an example).
  2. You can have dual citizenship in the US. In fact there’s no limit, so there are people that are citizens here, and in a few other countries as well.
  3. I’m pretty sure the FIG those who would be technically eligible will be...(I.e birth in 2005).
  4. The Dutch are pretty lenient like California though. I was talking about the Spain’s, Czechia’s, and Slovakia’s of the world.
  5. The amount of people I’ve had to explain this concept to is shocking. People do know that sports law, is still LAW right?
  6. I heard he’s torn between the Orange and the Checkers...
  7. I’ve decided to get through a few films I’ve wanted to watch today. First was the widely acclaimed short documentary “Period. End of Sentence.” That was a nice watch. It happy a tone, and the cinematography was of a good standard. I think the story could have been much more critical, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Also just finished “First They Killed My Father.” Wow, talk about a sob story right there. The cinematography is definitely some of the best I’ve seen out of Southeast Asia. @heywoodu will be happy to know that the entirety of the film was in Khmer (and Vietnamese and French). That films covers some heavy material, and it’s hard to watch as an American knowing that your country had a hand in what was happening. I believe it’s based on a true story, which means some of critiques can be thrown out. There are some “amazing” moments in that film. Plus, I have to tip my hat to the child actors that carry the film. Overall, a solid piece of cinema. I’d give it a 9/10. It’s a shame it didn’t win any awards (at least to my knowledge).
  8. That’s different because of the way their qualification system is worded. The IWF is legally within their right to suspend a country that way, while other federations are not.
  9. Right, that was always known. You can’t just undo law. People who have served their bans will be eligible like it or not.
  10. I feel like neither side is right here. We shouldn’t be like Europe where we don’t let kids go outside, and force everyone to stay in their homes, but we also shouldn’t just write everything experts say off. There needs to be a balance where people can work, and where people can be safe. These idiots will not help us reach that middle ground. California, Oregon, and Washington will be smart about this. I think the national infection rate will rise again, but only time will tell (and I hope time makes me look like a fool who was over cautious). If anything, we’ve proven that we’re not the proud, intelligent, informed, science believing nation we once were. The only positive is to this, is that Californian nationalism is on the rise.
  11. The US numbers are going to climb faster than Reza on a speed wall, and we deserve it honestly. Americans are idiots in the truest sense of the word.
  12. Watched “Les Miserables” (the 2020 class warfare movie, Cannes Jury pick). Not quite sure what to think. We all know I’m a sucker for class warfare stories, but that just lacked something. I think it’s a highly acclaimed movie, but I don’t get it to be honest. I get it’s a “fuck the system” movie, but it just lacks something.
  13. The problem is that my work focus on everything but the Olympics, so a lot of these organizations aren’t interested. Plus the majority of it is quite modern, so they don’t see the purpose of preserving it. There seems to be a wired gap in the international sports movement when it comes to multi-sports games. Some NOCs and IFs have done a good job documenting some of the games, but there’s almost nothing available for others still. It’s a weird issue honestly. @heywoodu and @Vojthas gave me some good advice earlier today too. I just need to slow down, continue my work, and keep networking. I need to continue my discussion with LA84 (even if I’m 90% it will be fruitless) and I should probably reach out to the Olympic Library. I really like the suggestions you’ve made as well. I don’t think the NASSH can do much for me, but there’s some interesting links on their website that I can investigate further. My goal wasn’t ever to become a amateur sports historian/archivist/whatever, but I seem to slowly be becoming one accidentally. The biggest plus is that my reporting is highly informed, and I love a lot of material to call back on.
  14. I swear this only gets harder. Many of files seem to be too big for Internet Archive. I’ve spent the last two days downloading and cataloging more files than I can count, and I still have nowhere for them to go! I think the best thing to do would be to actually try and set up my own digital library or online space for people to view my work (and add it, to use it reference, etc.). I don’t have the money or skill to do that, and now I’m left wishing I hadn’t done any of this in the first place. I feel like preserving the history of international multi-sports games is somewhat important, and that there’s no one doing it (including the federations and organizations themselves) is quite frustrating honestly. Maybe I’m just an idiot, I don’t know. I’m just frustrated and ready to give up on it at this point.
  15. I’ve found it extremely difficult to upload documents to Internet Archive. It seems like any file over 5MB is virtually impossible to upload (at least currently). Yeah, I don’t want to deal with Wikipedia because the bureaucracy of what information is classified as “important.” I have no damn clue about LA84.
  16. I want to be clear that I never said there was enough ventilators, or that every person should have one. I also never said that wearing a mask was a bad thing. This pandemic is fascinating from a social sciences perspective. I’ve never seen societal chaos such as this virus is bringing.
  17. I thought the Chinese government could essentially just shutdown the economy...I thought I read something about them doing during a depression a few years ago.
  18. Alright, well I’ve found a few options for my collection. Internet Archive seems like a risky move @Griff88. You seem to know a bit about that organization, so maybe you could give me some insight into what it does, and how to use it (for archiving information, not pulling PDFs off (I already figured that out a year ago)). LA84 Library seems like the best place low key, but I haven’t heard back from them. I’m not big on unnecessary work, so I think Wikipedia is out. There’s some other avenues I’m exploring, but that’s about it
  19. Doesn’t the Chinese economy have a kill switch?
  20. Just took a while to play around in web archive, and wow am I dumb! There’s a useful tool. I’m a stupid, stupid person. I should have been doing this from day one
  21. I have started the process of saving pages in web archive, since there’s a severe need there. I just don’t have the money to pay for storage in multiple places. I’m hopeful they’ll find a home (besides my cloud, which is their forever home) soon enough. Hopefully the LA84 people get back to me. I’ve had a few other doors opened to me as well.
  22. I would suck if you’re a person, and a country purposely released a virus that harms people...(again, not that I but into the China theory at all (yet)).
  23. Damn, sex workers get that big money
