  1. The congressional district that half of my town sits in got a shout-out on Twitter today. What Trump claims is false, but whatever. Interesting that district voted for a rather left representative in 2018, and it looks like they’ll vote for a far-right representative in 2020. Like I’ve said, my town is known nationally for being a hot bed for both far-left and far-right ideology. I vote in the other district, which also has one of the few GOP representatives from California. He’s a real asshole, but the state fucked us when they drew up the district lines. Gerrymandering is another wonderful side effect of the Electoral College.
  2. Postponed events are cheaper, and it makes Lukashenko look like a savior. It’s actually a rather good strategy for building your profile in the international events realm.
  3. I used to play a lot of COD growing up with a few of my closer friends. I remember having a good time playing online. It’s when they started playing with people we didn’t know that problems arose. So I think FPS games are fine if you’re only playing with friends you know, and talking to other sports players in the lobby. My favorite FPS game is Battlefield 1. The war stories are well made. The 32 v. 32 all out wars are the best. I always played as a medic/sniper. I loved going around saving my teammates. I was damn good at it too.
  4. Every eligible voter in California will be allowed to vote completely by mail for the November elections. In person polling will also be offered, but I’ll definitely go with the mail-in ballot this time.
  5. This is true in states that ban unions, or don’t have strong labor laws. Democratic states have much higher required minimum wage requirements (closer to Denmark) generally between $12.50 and $15 USD.
  6. Alright after listening to the songs more, these are my thoughts on what would have been this years songs. Iceland, Russia, and Ukraine are by far the best. If this was TISC, Iceland wins gold for me, Ukraine silver, and Russia bronze. They’re not campy pop songs, well Russia’s might be, but at least it’s fun and different. Solovey makes me want to see a European Games opening ceremony in Kiev. Its really cool to see a country actually try a folk song. The modern track that goes along with it is a bop as well. Performance wise, she could stand to be a little more animated, though her finish is awesome. Iceland’s song is cool for multiple reasons. They beat and tone are completely different from every other song in the competition. The song is not a love, empowerment, or loss of love song. The song is actually about his son who was yet to born when he wrote it. So “Think About Things”, is really about what his child will think of his family (at least that’s what I’ve heard). So this is now two years in a row where Iceland was my favorite song. They seem to have a great tradition of sending unique songs. Other songs I liked were Latvia, Lithuania (I cant get that fucking beat out of my head), Malta, Azerbaijan, and Greece. If this was American Eurovision with the states voting, the winner would either be Armenia or Sweden. I though both those songs were decent. Sweden really sent pretty much the same thing it sent last year though. I’m not a fan of Billie E...I mean Bulgaria. She has a great voice, but it’s clear Bulgaria was trying to cash an easy win. San Marino was...freaky. You probably wouldn’t be able to televise that in the US ? Serbia, Slovenia, Belarus, Poland, and Portugal have some work to do. Poland can’t even hit her notes. Belarus sucks as always. Serbia is pretty much everything I hate in music. Slovenia and Portugal just don’t have appealing vocals to me. So there’s my thoughts. We might all get to vote in a “Eurovision” next, since the U.S. version is scheduled to debut next year. It will just be terrible rap, country, and pop songs probably. Maybe we’ll get lucky and California or New Mexico will through something Spanish or Native American in. My bet is that the contest will never happen though, so let’s get to the point where entries are chosen first.
  7. Logic would suggest the larger country would have a larger economy (which it does), and therefore be able to pay its workers more (which it doesn’t). The larger country (population and land mass) should also have a better social support system since it has more resources (which it doesn’t). I also just realized the LA metro area has twice the population of Denmark
  8. FPS games tend to have rather toxic communities. That’s what ended up turning me away from them in the end.
  9. I’m not saying that’s my personal view, I’m just saying that many Yugoslavs disliked Croatia for a long time because the facists that took power there in the early 40s.
  10. Well, not to point fingers, but the Croatians have a reputation for helping said oppressors...
  11. @hckosice the military uniforms look a little too Soviet for me, but I absolutely love the belt buckles with the coat of arms on them
  12. Foreshocks are my worst nightmare after what we went through last summer. It was interesting way to finish day 2 (or was it 3) of Minsk 2019. I had to watch table tennis from under my table tennis table (I’m not joking, it was the weirdest coincidence).
  13. I’ve never really been into the Civ games. It has everything I’m interested in, I’ve just never played for some reason. The weight of the Tokyo 2020 is because the campaign is massive. It’s probably going to take me a good few days to beat it. I played the game for 4-5 hours today, and I’m only somewhere around 35% through the campaign (which is pretty much all there is to the game low key).
  14. I’d imagine that the buildings there aren’t exactly to the standard of what they are here in California. We laugh off anything under 6.0 around here.
  15. So one of my favorite aspects of psychology and communications is analyzing weird social experiments and social structures. GTA of course is already interesting enough, but there’s a fascinating gang war going on right. I’ve just begun reading into it, but apparently it all started with a group of people where the “green alien skin suit” costume, and organizing random gang attacks on other players in the lobby. However, their gang has balloon to include millions of online players within the last week. Interestingly, we’re witnessing the rise of the “purple alone skin suit” costume gang. Their number have also ballooned, and now there’s the weird huge ass gang war going on GTA online. This is one of the sides of gaming I love. Spontaneous social interaction and group integration. I might just have a right a study on this for my semester final for journalism...
  16. The NHL wants to expand to the Chinese market, so there’s some speculation that the NHL might already be considering that. I doubt we’ll see NHL players, but only time will tell.
  17. If anyone else downloads the games, send a friend request to Olympian1010
  18. Right, but that’s a full ass console game. Mobile games aren’t generally over 200-300 MB, so the size might either imply quality, or some misjudgment. Currently, I’m in favor of the latter.
  19. Went ahead and shelled out $4.99 USD to purchase the full game. I’ve enjoyed playing it so far. Is it the Olympic game of hopes and dreams? No. Is it a fun little experience? So far, yeah. There’s a whole bunch of stuff you can do. Oddly enough, you aren’t able to play the individual events in the conventional manner. You can play them all whenever (once you unlock them, which you do by progressing in the campaign), but you have just play the stage of the story their associated with. We can also pose 1v1 challenges against friends or random players. There’s a whole bunch of fun little collectibles and stuff too. Because I purchased the whole campaign, I have 5 “demo passes” that I can give away to friends. Those unlock the full game for people who haven’t purchased it yet. So if you want to demo the full game, let me know.
  20. This game is 636 MB. I feel like that’s a little large for a phone game personally. I’ve gone ahead and downloaded it on my tablet instead of my phone.
  21. Good actually. They can close off the tracks to spectators, and probably follow social distancing guidelines well.
