  1. Yes/no, it depends. One sect of American Lutherans is, the other (which my dad’s family is) isn’t. Methodists are highly evangelical, but many have more moderate and even progressive views (at least in California). We don’t really have any Calvinists in California. Baptists and Adventists are the other major Protestant sects I can think of in the U.S. Mormons label themselves as Christians, but every other Christian church does not. I’ve found Lutherans to be closest to the actual teachings of Jesus. The only other religions where I see people live up to good morals teachings is Judaism (non-Haredi), Hinduism (most are peaceful), and Buddhism (the religion I’d be most open to trying). I will say that we have some awesome Muslim communities in the U.S. too, but they also have bad sects like Christians.
  2. One of my TOC stages ever! Toms became my second favorite after Sagan because of his success in California. Plus, he came back from that horrific fall he suffered in years past.
  3. Exactly, American evangelicals are more likely to deport Jesus than support him.
  4. Yeah, I don’t think most evangelical Christians have read the Bible. As someone who has, even the boring ass books like Kings 2; it’s clear they missed its message. I’ve found most people involved in organization religion to be the most morally corrupt people.
  5. Drivers really suck at understanding these virtual races...
  6. At least the British didn’t spend the game booing in poor taste. Rio 2016 featured my least favorite fans overall.
  7. I finish my spring semester on Thursday, and I’m not doing a damn thing in June. I have few projects to help out with, but I should have plenty of free time. I really just want to use this summer to enjoy some of the multi-sports games I’ve missed, or would like to remember again. I could see how people who have jobs to return to could be hindered in their ability to participate though. If we were to do this, you could always join in at random times of course.
  8. I quite enjoyed watching some of the old Olympic ceremonies with y’all recently, and with the Olympics postponed, I’m little unsure of what to do this summer. So I was thinking we could all chose a multi-sports to relive together. We could open a thread like “Relive: 2019 African Games” (this example is not possible, since almost no public footage exists, but you should get the point), and relive the games day by day, watching events according the schedule, and chatting like it’s live. If we were to do this (and I think it’d be a fun little thing to do as a community before sports begin again), I think we should choose a games where a lot of public footage is available (examples: 2015 European Games, 2016 Summer Paralympics, 2012 Summer Olympics, 2017 Summer Deaflympics, etc. (I can post a full list of options if wanted). So what do y’all think?
  9. Fun fact, my town received 10.5 inches of rain this year, which means that we can’t be technically identified as a desert this year.
  10. NASA released a satellite photo of my town during the height of our Poppy bloom this spring Actual photo is in much better quality, but all of the orange in wildflowers. Black squares are our vast solar farms. Our valley is really pretty in March and April, and then pretty much ugly for the rest of the year. We do have some unique topography, as you can tell from this photo. The town is at the bottom right of the picture, and much of it isn’t shown.
  11. Honestly, I really want to do a multi-sports games in Minecraft. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of crossover between Olympic fans and Minecraft players I’ve tried twice to put something together now, and it hasn’t worked out in the end. I actually got rather close on the last attempt, but there wasn’t enough players with compatible versions of the game. I’m going to go for a third try this summer because I literally have nothing better to do.
  12. He’s had a few flops lately, but a Eurovision comedy does seem like something he could pull off.
  13. Netflix has released a trailer for a new Will Ferrell comedy about Eurovision Based off the comments, people seem to like what the see from this little peak.
  14. Right, but being a “easier job” (which I would imagine is harder than being mayor of New York City) still doesn’t really translate to why we can have relatable, decent, good natured leaders.
  15. That’s why I so wish the Tokyo 2020 XBox/PC/PS game was out worldwide right now. It would be awesome to get a group together and play that like once a week or something.
  16. Don’t quite see how population contributes to being a good leader, and all around decent person...
  17. Right, and so I just think we shouldn’t waste time on this anymore. I’m sure we all have better things to do.
  18. Seems like there’s no interest in this, so there’s not really point in doing it anymore.
  19. It’s a real shame that Disney can’t produce good movies anymore honestly. All they can do is half hearted reboots, profitable sequels, and lame adaptations. Plus, they don’t take any artistic risk with their work. There’s no language or imagery that pushes the boundary. There’s no themes that are hard to digest. The storylines have almost become copy and paste for most of their work. It’s sad really. The notable exception that can be made is the studio responsible for “Inside Out”, “Coco”, and soon “Soul.” They are making fantastic movies that are pushing the boundaries of what animated storytelling is. Their plots aren’t copy and paste, and they deal with some interesting subject matter. Plus, they have managed to represent some underrepresented cultures in American film. I just hope Disney doesn’t kill the one studio I actually enjoy the work of.
  20. What is with people wanting to make trash movies out of books from my childhood. I loved the Artemis Fowl series, and it’s hella clear Disney didn’t even read the books before making this
  21. This is how you know if your country sits in the Ring of Fire Ardern gives me life. She’s the best. Why can’t we all have a Jacinda?
  22. March would be better I imagine. For me, knowing the injury rate in Alpine Skiing, I wouldn’t want to risk an injury at the World Championships a month before the Olympics.
  23. I would imagine the World Championships will be heavily impacted by the Olympics though. Right?
