  1. FINA has updated their confirmed quota allocation table as of today (scroll down to the bottom): https://www.fina.org/competitions/tokyo-2020-diving-info/
  2. Yeah, I don’t know what to make of that. The ISA make some bold claims about their jurisdiction as well. For instance, SUP Race is almost certainly more of a ICF discipline than a ISA discipline. Same with wakesurf. That’s almost certainly a discipline that falls under the IWWF.
  3. The ISA claim to govern 7 disciplines, and technically anymore that use waves. “The ISA governs and defines Surfing as Shortboard, Longboard & Bodyboarding, StandUp Paddle (SUP) Racing and Surfing, Para-Surfing, Bodysurfing, Wakesurfing, and all other wave riding activities on any type of waves, and on flat water using wave riding equipment.”
  4. Just an interesting read I thought I’d share.
  5. Natalia Grossman takes the women’s competition with a perfect score in the final. That’s two World Cup victories for her this year.
  6. Awesome victory for Sean Bailey in the Boulder World Cup today. There were only 4 tops in the entire final It was definitely a challenging set.
  7. Rossi runs into similar issues as well.
  8. Engines firing up, should be a go for the start of the 105th Indy 500 in just a few minutes.
  9. WORLD RECORD!!! This time Leonardo sets the world record with a 5.208
  10. World Cup victory for Tokyo bound Mirosław
  11. Miho Nonaka with a bronze in a speed climbing World Cup Yeah, yeah. Reduced field, rival’s mistakes and whatnot, still awesome.
  12. Both Indonesians the under Reza’s WR in the semifinal. This final will be electric.
  13. Leonardo just broke the previous world record in the quarterfinals as well @Griff88
  14. From the video description: “20-year-old first-time World Cup participant Kiromal Katibin pulverised the men's Speed world Record at the IFSC Boulder and Speed World Cup in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The young Speed specialist, clocked in the unbelievable time of 5.258 seconds – 0.222 seconds better than the previous mark.”
  15. I think the local organizers/EOC are taking a different approach on building the sports program for these Games. The Olympic sports that feature on the program will likely serve as Olympic qualifiers or European Championships (likely awarding a fair amount of points in Olympic rankings), meaning that the majority of the best European athletes in those sports will hopefully contest the Games. Likewise they are creating an intriguing program of non-Olympic sports that will likely help draw local attention/drive curiosity in the Games, that will almost certainly feature the best athletes in Europe. Essentially, they are attempting to create a sports program that will drive interest in the Games and attract the best athletes in participating sports. I don’t think it’s a bad idea. It’s no secret that the European Games have struggled to gain notoriety, so this model is worth a try.
  16. Well it’s only been around since 2012, but it’s seen astronomical growth in the last 2-3 years. It’s been floated for inclusion at a couple multi-sports games now. Here’s a video explaining the rules for those interested:
  17. Teqball is the next sport to be officially added to the program.
  18. I would suggest adding Diving given the current issues there. I’m curious to know why Sports Climbing was included. I don’t see any major flaws with the qualification system.
  19. Wushu and Sambo are now members of the IWGA.
  20. I went with Rugby Sevens because it’s a pretty solid qualification system. 4 from the world tour, continental champions, and a final world qualifier. Also worth noting, in my opinion, field hockey and handball. Most team sports qualification systems left a lot to be desired this cycle though.
