  1. I wonder what "Premium Global Destination Partner" will mean exactly, it sounds like one of those super empty titles they give to some 'partnership'. Will they replace Stora Enso, for example?
  2. Hopefully 2031 goes to Planica, that was awesome. Oberstdorf was organized quite good as well, anything better than Trondheim really, but Planica would just be extra fun Good to see Drammen and USA on the calendar as well!
  3. A 4x100m by himself was always a bit much for Obikwelu indeed.
  4. Botswana sneaking in a nice NR even without Tebogo.
  5. Yeah, that would work, but 2026 is showing us that FIFA isn't likely to go that way, considering for next year they opted for the by definition more unfair system of 12 groups of 4.
  6. Yep...come on, how difficult is it to understand that one needs 16, 32 or (too much of course) 64 teams for a decent format? 48 doesn't work without intrinsically unfair things like "best ranked third place". But, money.
  7. India is the surprise addition to the list, but then again: if you have that many people, you're bound to have some of the prettiest as well
  8. I don't necessarily want to 'off' anyone, so I might have better worded it a little more calmly, but if you willfully join Putin's little theater in between the likes of Lukashenko, Xi Jinping and such, that's not exactly a good look, to say it mildly.
  9. Put together, religion as a cause will probably still beat them (especially the many, many millions of deaths in many centuries of Islamic and Christian conquests and such), but obviously I definitely won't say atheists have not caused their huge share of suffering as well
  10. Moscow's Victory Day Parade, including a whole bunch of what would be quite nice targets, i.e. every head of state aligned with Putin (in other words, every single head of state who is present there, mostly....you know, the usual suspects).
  11. Oh definitely, unlike many other Olympic sports, it is a sport that doesn't need the Olympics to survive and that by itself says a lot. I might watch a bit, but if there is almost literally anything else going on, it's going on the bottom of the list. Personal preference, of course
  12. Well it's not too late to just ignore it come 2028
  13. I don't necessarily mean in the last 50 years or so, but from early history all the way to right now. Millions upon millions killed in the name of Islam, Christianity or whatever, and now it's not much different: there's conflict and before people can breath, religion is thrown into the mix as one of the reasons to make things worse. I'm realistic enough to know the world is never going to see full peace, but as long as any kind of religion is around, that chance is even tinier.
  14. Yay, religion. I wonder if it has led to more deaths than, say, smallpox throughout human history.
  15. India and Pakistan are at it.
  16. Horrible accident at the last British Supersport race of the weekend yesterday at Oulton Park. Roughly ten riders sustained certain injuries, Shane Richardson (29) and young Owen Jenner (21) didn't survive..
  17. The exception that confirms it by being exactly that: an exception Honestly, it'd even be fine if they called it sort of an 'allround sprint' or whatever, instead of calling the combination 'short hurdles', suggesting the combination consists of, well, short hurdle races.
  18. It's also just utter nonsense. A sprint competition with athletes running a 100 and 200, fine, or a middle-distance with them running 800 and 1500. But a 100 and a 110/100m hurdles is just....weird. And then actually calling it 'short hurdles', when literally half of the combination does not involve hurdles.
  19. Also decent races in the hurdle/sprint Slam combo's last night.
  20. Earlier this week, the oldest verified person in the world, a 116-year old Brazilian nun, passed away. Now Indian media is reporting the death of a 128-year old yoga guru, and funnily enough, it looks like media* is taking that entirely unverified and incredibly unlikely age at face value without asking questions https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/baba-shivanand-128-year-old-padma-shri-awardee-dies-pm-modi-expresses-grief-8326144 https://www.indiatvnews.com/uttar-pradesh/padma-shri-awardee-baba-sivanand-passes-away-at-128-in-varanasi-pm-modi-cm-yogi-pay-tribute-latest-updates-2025-05-04-988562 https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/yoga-guru-padma-shri-awardee-swami-sivananda-dies-at-128-in-varanasi-101746338973348.html *disclaimer: I have zero idea which Indian news websites are credible, so these might just be 'trash papers' like Daily Mirror or such Of course no matter what his real age was, rest in peace.
  21. Not sure yet on one thing though: there are the 'Slam' winners, who gain the most points in the two events in a certain meet (i.e. someone won the Kingston 'Slam' in the short hurdles/sprint combo, this weekend someone else might win it). But, is there also an overall champion at the end? Is it like, say, Formula 1: someone wins a race and thus has a win, but the actual champion is whoever collects the most points?
  22. Plus the usual Florida tailwinds making for some interesting times The not enough filling at least made for a good breakfast view this morning: skipping the large parts of nothing made it possible to watch the whole meet (meaning, 8 races) in under half an hour or so, that's quite practical
