  1. Yeah, this was one of the highest levels in a while Kipyegon's WR was cool, but especially the women's high jump WR had been so much anticipated to be broken for years, awesome to finally see it happen And that 800m, jesus.
  2. I believe it will be HBO Max instead of Discovery Plus, but don't hold me accountable if that's not true please I've never had Discovery Plus and have always only remained with Eurosport, so I'm not really sure. For what it's worth, I'm counting on needing HBO Max, for now I'll stay with Eurosport for the last two weeks, but then I'll move because Eurosport will close the site. I assume one can keep using a website (and an app), hopefully with just as easy URL's as Eurosport.... (where it's basically just eurosport.nl/watch/*nameofsport*)
  3. 100m in Paris: Martina's last ever race on home soil, and given that he's highly unlikely to make the relay team for his 6th Olympics, I think this was the last time we've really seen him compete. Watched his interview afterwards and at 40, he is still as filled with positivity as 20 years ago. Man, Dutch sports is going to miss him, far and away my favourite ever Dutch athlete in any sport (and I think it's the same for many other people, he has always been such an incredibly humble and inspirational guy and I don't remember any athlete in any sport who has gone through so much with such a big smile, no matter what happens - including being disqualified for stepping on a line after winning gold in the home European championships).
  4. Holy moly Mahuchikh you legend
  5. Jeez, I think not even the average Frenchman is such an enthousiastic 'follower' of French election results
  6. I always wonder how national channels can be worse than our NOS. I mean, they do show sports on TV, but they have literal hours a day of studio analysis in between. They switch away from athletics sessions (like skipping semis and so on), to spend 20 minutes talking about a baton exchange of a Dutch relay team in the heats. They switch away from live sports, to see a Dutch athlete receive his or her medal, and so on. They even literally said that they bring the Olympics with a focus on 'the story', instead of showing sports.
  7. In the end it won't matter for me, I'll get the sports add-on anyway because I use Eurosport's content many, many hours a week on average so it is easily worth it.
  8. That's not how Tokyo was though. There they started well in the first few days, but after that they moved to showing stuff like 1 set of a volleyball match, 1 random heat of canoe slalom and whatever, in between tons of analysis in the studio and non-stop directing towards the online channels
  9. That part I knew (it shows every single time I open the player, so annoying ). Unfortunate, because I like the player's functionality. I hope the one on HBO will work just as well in terms of things like hotkeys and such.
  10. Oh, this I didn't know I'll take a look into that, there have been so many different Eurosport/Eurosport Player subscriptions over the past 7-8 years, I'll have to see if all of them are part of this. At least I do already have HBO Max for movies and series, so that'll just be a matter of going for the sports add-on.
  11. Not as far as I know. I remember a Dutch guy on a Dutch forum had a website where he looped lots of streams to, in one website, if he has that again come Olympics time I'll let you know.
  12. The whole Eurosport package will move to HBO Max (same thing, different layout), but I fear that won't help you much as a Canadian. That package shows everything that is possible to show. Probably not archery qualifiers, because I believe usually they don't really have any broadcasting feed available at the Olympics, but other than that, basically every single heat, group match or round of 64 match should be there. But again, yeah...probably not for you, sadly. Maybe @Olympian1010 knows about a North American version? To be fair, having all of that for free might be a bit much to ask, it'd only be fair to pay for that insane amount of sports
  13. You don't, which is why for a very large majority of events (except those in which I do have my own favourites) I'm happy as long as the competition was good, no matter which flag happens to be behind the name By the way, not saying one way or another is wrong, just that certain things I find difficult to understand personally. In the end everyone should of course just cheer for whoever they want and no matter the reason.
  14. And this is why Turkey would by far be the most annoying country to lose to and it's fantastic that has been avoided Now this is just hilarious
  15. Is there honestly a chance she'll make it in time? That would be sensational by itself!
  16. Goes pretty well with the new Dutch prime minister (since this week), Dick Schoof Seems to be a rather penile week of politics.
  17. What's up with these 'I cheer against a certain flag' things some people often seem to have? I mean, where did the heart for sports go: cheering for (or against) certain athletes because you like (or dislike) the athlete, no matter where they're from? There's no doubt athletes who I find to be assholes, from my country and others, and athletes who I find to be awesome people, from my country and others, does the little flag really matter that much? Someone who one would consider an amazing athlete and great person can't be cheered for, because the flag is wrong? Come on Oddly, I can understand cheering for certain countries (due to family ties, nice memories, potential historical results, etc) more than cheering against certain countries Edit: to clarify, this was not specifically directed at anyone in particular, I notice the same thing on every kind of sports forum, both here and the Dutch ones
  18. I saw I was tagged here as well, but no idea what to do where and I'm trying to be careful not to be dragged into the user X vs user Y Wikipedia battle of which even after all the posts here I have absolutely no clue who is who, what is what and what I should be in favor of or even what on earth is going on that's apparently such a big deal Besides having no idea who is selected and who isn't, sailing is a sport of which there's a good chance I'll end up seeing almost nothing during the Olympics
  19. God, how I hate these federations refusing athletes who did indeed qualify one way or another.
  20. You're just frustrated Algeria is outside the top-50 (53rd)
  21. Nice! I've only ever been there when the train to Schiphol passes through Diemen-Zuid
