  1. Too bad we're ending with the boring Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, which are basically the least exciting venues for the decision of the world title, zero atmosphere. Then again, nothing to complain about this season with so many new and/or returning circuits on the calendar, I like it I know they might not all be too exciting, I just find it fun to have 'new' and different tracks for a bit.
  2. A spammer, or a Pakistani prince who could have given us millions?!
  3. What happened there? I saw literally one post from him (in the prediction contest discussion thread) which seemed pretty normal, but then closed Totallympics until now
  4. Ah yes, that makes it normal to call 9-year old girls fat to their faces. There's a difference between finding a decent way to tell young kids that, if they want to be succesful in this sport, they do need to keep an eye on their physique, and just outright calling them fat. People who can't find the right way of dealing with that are not supposed to be coaching kids.
  5. I was definitely cheering for Sato as well, too bad the race - which in itself was a rather good one - ended in such an anticlimactic way. About the rest of your post, I'll use your own word: hogwash Nobody said Sato can't be called an Indy 500 winner, no idea where you even got that nonsense from.
  6. I feel like we might be underestimating modern pentathlon if we're thinking there are no diet restrictions and stretching pains Although to be fair, if true, this is not exactly a good way to treat young children neither...the obsession of these coaches to call every child fat.
  7. Went for an easy 7.5k today, but since I had registered for the 10km at the virtual Ushuaia Loppet (cross-country marathon in Argentina, which is cancelled but now has a virtual race for 5/10/21/42km where one can choose running, skiing or rollerskiing) and this is the last week, I decided to go for my goal of 55 minutes and see where it ended up, mostly so I could cross it through and be done with it 5:14 5:07 5:05 5:06 5:09 5:03 5:22* 5:20 5:12 4:48 Bringing my total to 51:23 and a new PB *Significantly dying and slowing down from there, luckily @brunamoura was cycling with me and basically pulling me (mentally speaking) towards the 10k
  8. Reusser and Klein could get a handful of seconds penalty, and Van der Breggen as well for her riding behind Reusser towards the finish. Then again, the few seconds they might have won would change the positions in the standings exactly....not at all
  9. Taking a quick look at the Tour de France prediction contest, I'm happy to see predictions for stages can be done day-by-day Props for that, I'll fill my predictions in soon
  10. Daniel Shaver-like situation, sort of (yes, I get every single situation is different, but you get the point). If it's apparently so necessary to shoot, why immediately 5 (Shaver) or 7 (this guy) times? Come on.
  11. Apparently most of the trees are still standing. Which one can understand, given that there is no way this is the only big fire there in 1500 years.
  12. In the Netherlands Mathieu van der Poel, who said he wasn't in shape yet, destroyed a rather mediocre field - most of the best riders who could have had a chance here didn't compete because of the upcoming races.
  13. Oh well, does silver really matter in these national championships? Winners gets a cool jersey, the rest gets forgotten in terms of what they did there and to be fair, LLS was already on his way to obliterate him in the sprint
  14. Well, we'll have to agree to strongly disagree on this
  15. How is it more true to the sport? It's racing, people and basically everyone involved want to finish while racing. Restarts are a part of the sport, whether they are in the 5th or 5th to last lap, nothing unfair about it. This is also not unfair, by the way, but considering both options can be considered fair, I'd choose the more entertaining option (and the one that, in my opinion, is more true to the sport). By the way, 'a lot of Indy 500s that end on caution'? How many is that? Since this is the first one since I believe 2013
  16. The way they deal with late cautions in NASCAR is so much better than in IndyCar, where they just say "fuck it, this is the end". Ugh, way to mess up races.
  17. And the second one a little later, Marcus Ericsson hard into the wall with some flames at the back He got out alright, luckily.
  18. I strongly disagree At least the aeroscreen isn't really blocking any view and it looks way more like a part of the car than the Halo thingy. Maybe I've just gotten used to it by now, I still prefer the cars without any of them, but I do think it looks better than the F1/2/3 solutions.
  19. A little over 15 minutes to go before the green flag drops at the Indy 500
  20. Viñales with a potentially life-saving 'decision'/instinct to abandon his bike at 220-230 km/h, that hit the fence hard. Oliveira
  21. I've been watching it for around two years now and there's so many finalists here who I've never even heard of Seems like a slightly devalued event, which is of course sadly logical, but still fun enough to watch tonight
  22. I wonder what the chances are for the North American cross-country skiing competitions. Surely these World Cups have been cancelled not necessarily because of the event itself, but because of people travelling from all over the world? That would make the chance smaller that the North American FIS races in cross-country skiing (not World Cups) are cancelled, but it's interesting to follow what's going to happen to those..
  23. With my laptop browser still having been on the 'old' new layout (the one that was still active yesterday), I now noticed at least one major difference: only a relatively small portion of the width is still used. Instead of most of the width being used, now there's a large empty (and thus useless) margin left and right...
  24. My name is Retep.
  25. But my parents came to this part of the country from the (roughly) Rotterdam/The Hague area years before I was born, and according to my genealogy research pretty much all of my direct ancestors are from that area
