  1. Valentin of Spain will compete in women's 87kg class not the 76kg class. The decision was made yesterday
  2. Not sure what the rules are now - but it used to be that you could name runners specifically for the relays but could use anybody who had qualified for individual races without it counting for the relay quota
  3. I'm going to stick my neck out and say the Namibian teenagers are the real thing. This looks like an Olympic 400m champion to me.
  4. Check the entry for Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic on Wikipedia
  5. So few ranking events in 2020 and 2021 so not enough people were able to overtake them in the rankings
  6. You're probably too young to remember what Muhammad Ali said about his opponents before and after his fights.
  7. It appears that Great Britain and Uzbekistan will have the most number of qualifiers, 11 each, in Tokyo
  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-57379875 "Ukraine's Euro 2020 football kit provokes outrage in Russia"
  9. And also one of the selectors for the GB team is the husband of the woman who coaches Alice Kinsella
  10. The reason she missed the trials was because her younger brother had suddenly collapsed and died a few days earlier.
  11. The women's team will be announced later today but the names have been leaked. Beckie Downie has not picked. Instead it will be the Gavrilova sisters, Kinsella and Morgan.
  12. Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh were married in 2013. Three years before they won gold together
  13. Dutch question. Are Eduoard Gal and Hans-Peter Mindenhout officially married now? And will both make the dressage team?
  14. Prairie View, Texas , USA Men's shot put Chukwuebuka Enekwechi 21,53 https://results.usatf.org/2021Showcase/
  15. Russian has a very ugly style but I think it's fair he wins this time
  16. Right. I've watched it. Russian narrowly wins round 1. Italian wins round 2 Round 3 was messy until the last 30 seconds when the Russian landed some good late punches.
  17. For me Joshua lands 7 or 8 scoring punches in the first 90 seconds of round 3 that wins it for him. Of course that would mean nothing under the new scoring method. And I can think of some very bad decisions that went against Italians before that. Mussone and Damiani in 1984 for example
  18. I agree with the comments on Conlon but not quite on Joshua's final. Under the current scoring he would definitely have lost 29-28 to the Italian but on 2012 scoring I think he did enough in round 3 to make up the deficit on the 1st two rounds. Although he definitely lost to the Cuban in his first bout in 2012
  19. I'm Welsh and was not happy that our federation were supporters of the corrupt AIBA *******
  20. Britain has put a lot of time, effort and money into amateur boxing this century. Also remember that England, Scotland and Wales have separate membership of AIBA and England and Scotland were enemies of the former AIBA administration.
