  1. Here are some interesting links dealing with this topic and also AI in general, maybe you will find some of them insightful. It is interesting to see that people like Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg are also in favor of an universal basic income, but i don't know if them advocating this idea is a good thing or not ... ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWmRkYsLzB4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ8U3687b28 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th3nnEpITz0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opdc8hQN0ew https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWistojFP3w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR5N2Jl8k14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nt3edWLgIg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu8s0tp9yzY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEkT14RBzDI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSKi8HfcxEk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gfw6vIl8ILk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQGqMVuAk04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16W7c0mb-rE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnT1xgZgkpk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXQrbxD9_Ng
  2. Here are some links for you, in case you want to learn more about it (the first three links are in german): http://www.3sat.de/page/?source=/kulturzeit/themen/135178/index.html (i remember that there was also a video of an interview with Andre Gorz, but sadly i can't find it anymore) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BAmI1t-Awo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM4dFbliffU https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/oct/31/finland-universal-basic-income https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/20/opinion/finland-universal-basic-income.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irf2dhtJZZ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIL_Y9g7Tg0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rL6gJkdlNU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9ANdC7ZFAI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_iPysBMIUg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4W5RXPXsko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydKcaIE6O1k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkO2CwLWRvg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzs9IljUZiU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq3nRSq03x4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFERVdpmPDc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6Ttro225EE There has also been an experiment in Kenya: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyTBWUkdGR0 https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/23/magazine/universal-income-global-inequality.html https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/3/6/14007230/kenya-basic-income-givedirectly-experiment-village Interesting footnote of history: Richard Nixon already wanted to introduce an universal basic income more than 40 years ago ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM7iQU0eaG0 Edit: Sorry for throwing all those links at you, i thought i post them here, in case someone finds that topic interesting, i didn't want to "impose" a discussion on you ...
  3. FIFA World Cup™ Magazine episode 27 (in case you are sad that the qualifiers are over and want to see more ...): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TfUabUAcKw
  4. An interesting video for all the people who fear that most of us will be replaced by robots soon ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUmyygCMMGA I think this channel has a lot of interesting videos, the same is true for the following channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrU9YDoXE88
  5. Leonardo Da Vinci's last painting in private hands "Salvator Mundi" (at least it is said to be by him) was sold for $450.3 M yesterday. It's old owner Dmitry Rybolovlev bought it for $127 M 4 years ago, so he made a good profit ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7omwQLuGJQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b70MWFITsd4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJb14H3Mz_o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCHD-6s2tes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TnA4fwk6Yo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTS6-KeGoHg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY1CKDxaeiQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAU64qk5nNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhArixI-oJg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB9iy3k3TBw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3mLhkijkOw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0AwMlOGCv0 The art market is getting crazier and crazier by the minute, but it has to be said that Da Vinci apparently was a really interesting character ... For me personally it is just sad that it is allowed for people to buy great artworks like this and then hide it away, especially because this work was just recently "discovered" and i think that everyone should get the chance to see it before it is locked away again. It also has to be said that the art market is a great place to launder money, so we should take the skyrocketing of the prizes we see with a grain of salt ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0AwMlOGCv0
  6. Don't know if it is the right thread, but i will drop some links here anyway, in case that someone wants to watch some interesting Wimbledon matches from the past: 1980 Wimbledon final: Borg vs. McEnroe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6PW9pNevIg 1975 Wimbledon final with my favorite player: Ashe vs. Connors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgQhyiaAMeY 2001 Wimbledon final: Ivanisevic vs. Rafter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzoEVuRkLLo 2009 Wimbledon final: Federer vs. Roddick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rctOtFOXco8 2008 Wimbledon final: Federer vs. Nadal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8YEiCAPAbg 2001 Wimbledon 4th round: Federer vs. Sampras https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEPdLJhq6-k 2015 Wimbledon 2nd round: Brown vs. Nadal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2-CAWnLa1Y 1977 Wimbledon semifinal: Borg vs. Gerulaitis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feJGKuI3WLk 2005 Wimbledon final: V.Williams vs. Davenport https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nchz8NgeJAM 1978 Wimbledon final: Navratilova vs. Evert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUibcWfCswc "Spirit of Wimbledon" documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IPihpU0_l4
  7. I am extremely disappointed by this edition, no songs i really like. Why was everyone afraid to pick popular songs? The open edition should normally have a much better quality than the annual edition, but this time it is clearly the other way round. Given the level of competition, i am confident that Germany would have gotten a very good result this time, which makes me even sadder that i missed the deadline to enter a song.
  8. The most astonishing result yesterday was the 8th place for Aizanat Murtazaeva in women's epee. Why? She was born on 23 September 2001!
  9. Very impressive by England, they are currently the most successful country at youth level, although France is producing the better individual players. I dont think that England will become much better at senior level though ...
  10. Not long ago ... here is a hint: The player who beat the world number 1 (6:4 6:0) was from Estonia ...
  11. I completely missed that Shane Perkins now competes for Russia ... when i read "Maximilian Levy won gold in mens keirin ahead of Shane Perkins from Russia", i thought that it must be a mistake ...
  12. France is super strong, GB weak as always and the team pursuit times are suspiciously fast. The german sprint coach has obviously gone mad, there is no other explanation for why he didnt use Grabosch in the final. With Grabosch instead of Welte, Germany should dominate team spring again very soon. Hard to see Germany not winning the team sprint gold in 2020 on the womens side, the men on the other hand are still shit, something finally has to happen. A decade ago Germany dominated this event, now they are an outsider at best for medals at the global stage, of course Bötticher retiring didnt help either, without all his injuries he could have become an absolute legend.
  13. I dont care about compound, because its not olympics, but the recurve result is great and very surprising. Will this event be olympic in 2020? Also congrats to Italy, they again did the impossible. Their individual archers arent top class, but their team is always super competitive. Russia also was surprisingly good.
  14. That might be true, but when i decided to participate, i also decided that i will only consider german-language songs. If everyone picks english songs, this competition makes no sense in my opinion. I also could have picked songs by Robin Schulz, Felix Jaehn, Zedd and so on ... but then this competition comes just down to "who wins" and i then i wouldnt be interested in it anymore, i think the aim should be to pick: - lesser know artists from your home country that most foreign/non-german people would otherwise never hear of - songs in the country's own language, because language is the key to understand other cultures and maybe some people will see that german can be a very nice-sounding language too For example, this used to be one of my favorite songs when i was young and i still like it, but how exactly does it "represent" Germany? It could be from artists from any other country and you wouldn't hear the difference, so what is the point of entering it as a german song in a competition ... ? I also could have picked this song, but it would have been the same problem ...
  15. Sorry, i completely forgot about it, now its sadly too late. I hope you guys will have a lot of fun (as you always do) and may the best song win ... Maybe i will participate for the first time next year ... This was my early favorite to represent Germany by the way:
  16. Iran is doing great, Mexico is always very good at junior level, so this is an impressive result. I am surprised that Spain won against France and even more surprised that England had to go to penalties to beat Japan, without Sancho, they are clearly weaker. I think Brazil should win this, England is probably the second best team, followed by Spain, Mali and Iran.
  17. Very good result for Germany, although Brazil will absolutely annihilate this team, which of course isnt surprising, considering all the missing players (especially Moukoko).
  18. What a surprising result!
  19. Wow ... the level is absolutely atrocious, especially on the womens side. Where are all the elite gymnasts? None of the top american, chinese, russian girls compete + i think the best british girls are missing (i might be wrong) + no Iordache. In the end at best 10% of the medallists are really top 3 in their event at the moment. Especially in womens beam the level is shockingly bad. Normally even top qualifier Tabea Alt should have struggled to make the final. I dont remember it being that bad 4 years ago. Those world championships are a joke, which is sad, because the canadian crowd and organizers deserved better.
  20. Is it possible for me to represent Australia too? If not, then i would like to switch nationality and represent Australia instead of Germany.
  21. What a shocking result in mens U23 road race. I was absolutely sure that Kämna will win the gold. He must feel devastated now, he threw away a safe gold in the time trial for this ...
  22. Ok, sorry didnt get it, belgium people probably just have a different sense of humor.
