  1. You have a serious problem ... 1) Why can't you let it go? 2) Why can't you accept facts? 3) What's wrong with your logical reasoning skills? One result > All other career results?
  2. 1) Why don't you quote me if you are interested in a discussion? If you aren't, then just stay quiet. 2) I am still waiting for you or our dutch friend to give any plausible reason why him medalling wasn't a big surprise. As far as i can see i am the only one here actually trying to lead a serious discussion. 3) Majority of people = 2? Wow, strong argument, especially considering you are one of them and the other one has made a hobby out of disagreeing with 99 % of what i say. I don't want to get into a philosophical discussion, but maybe it's not the best idea to just blindly follow whatever the majority of people currently considers to be true.
  3. I think everyone knows that the main goal for the jury in the 2nd round was to stop Germany and Kobayashi from winning another medal. Fans in Austria already seem to have lost a lot of interest in ski jumping and the way the polish guys have performed recently, polish fans would have been next. This outcome keeps the interest alive and that's more important than having a fair competition. In the end i don't think it will help much, the austrian team is already pretty much dead and Poland also has no new talents, so FIS is only putting off the inevitable.
  4. What do you mean? Fair conditions always favor the best athletes, no surprise that Geiger and Kobayashi are fighting for gold.
  5. 1) What does her age have to do with it? Let's say Simone Biles or Ledecky would retire now, would you consider them the best ever in their respective events? 2) If you don't consider Takanashi the greatest ever, then who is it in your opinion?
  6. 1) Gruber almost didn't get selected for this competition, it was between him and Denifl and he got lucky that he was even selected. I very much doubt that he had a guarantee to be selected, no matter how he would do during the world cup. 2) Why would Gruber take it easy if ... a) The world championships are in his home country b) He is 36 years old and this is the biggest competition for him until the 2022 olympics (where he will be 39 years old), it's very doubtful whether he will ever get a chance like this again. I got used to you arguing with me on every thing i say just for the sake of it, but your nonsense is too easy to expose, please apply yourself from now on.
  7. How did i know that you would comment on this 100 % ... (of course without replying to the actual comment, since that would mean you would have to get into an discussion and since you know you have no point, you didn't even try). I know for you every outcome ever was predictable (that's why you are so superior in all the prediction contests), but for some of us it might have been quite a surprise to see someone winning the silver medal who didn't have a single podium finish this season and was never better than 7th ...
  8. At the moment it doesn't show me the time comments were written at, does anyone else have this problem?
  9. 1) If you want to discuss, then ... a) Reply to my comment b) Read my comment before you reply 2) I said that Riiber deserved that gold medal, but Gruber winning a medal here is completely random (so is Germany not having anyone on the podium)
  10. Hard to imagine Maja Ciric not being the most beautiful particpant ...
  11. What? She won bronze in womens sprint last year ... The fact that she witnessed Vogel's accident live clearly took a toll on her (according to newspaper reports), but i have no doubt that she will be fine for 2020. In the end those world championships between olympics are rather unimportant, especially because GB never bothers to show up. I think the past couple olympics only very few world champions won the gold medal in their respective events and i don't think it will be different this time. I think the Netherlands will win gold in men's team sprint and GB will probably win both team pursuits, but apart from that i don't see anyone who can already be considered a big favorite for the olympics.
  12. What a random result, although Riiber deserved it probably given the season he is having. The austrian grandpa winning a medal certainly is a bad sign, but not completely shocking given that the best german athletes are taking it easy this season. Must be nice for all the other nations to finally have a chance at winning something again. Have to say that i absolutely can't stand Riiber and Rehrl, easily the least likeable guys in nordic combined for me.
  13. 10.712 for Friedrich in women's sprint qualification! Would have been the 2nd fastest time at the world championships last year (let's see what it's worth this year, considering that the track seems extremely fast). If the german coaches know anything about track cycling, they will find a way to coach Friedrich/Grabosch to gold in the team sprint in 2020.
  14. 1) Takanashi severely declined already despite being 2 years younger than Lundby 2) Vogt won her last title in 2017, when she was as old as Lundby is now 3) Althaus is 2 years younger than Lundby Please don't let facts disturbe you ...
  15. Completely agree, noone said that Lundby came out of nowhere today, but anyone who isn't completely biased has to admit that Althaus today was the better athlete. Lundby got clearly overscored + it's easier to make a telemark when you jump half a kilometer shorter in each round. Same conditions + fair judges -> Althaus wins the gold medal today in 99 out of 100 cases.
  16. Vogt won 2 world championships and an olympic gold, Lundby was very lucky today to win her first world championships gold. Of course Lundby has one more overall world cup, but unlike Vogt she never had to compete against peak Takanashi (the best female ski jumper of all times).
  17. Very sad day, Althaus was definitely the better athlete today, but the judges didn't want it to be. Lundby is bound to come down like Vogt did after a couple of years, hopefully that's when Althaus will be finally rewarded.
  18. Weird question ... In NK/SJ we still have 5 events and in each of them Germany has maybe 50 % to win gold, in CC we have 4 events left and in each of them Norway has about 80 % to win them. I think a better question would be whether Norway is more likely to sweep the remaining CC events than Germany is to win 4 of the 5 remaining events in SJ/NK. I think Germany should win NK team, SJ mixed team and SJ men's individual, but NK men's individual and women's SJ individual are open.
  19. Ouch ... third final for Germany and third missed quote place ... In the end i am sure that all important german athletes will qualify and that Germany will win at least 3 medals in Tokyo, but at the moment it's still frustrating.
  20. Chill ... cadet team events are the worst predictor for success at senior level + Italy did great in the individual competitions.
  21. At the beggining of those world championships i was very disappointed to not see River Radamus win a medal, but now he is finally performing at his best. Probably the best male talent those last couple of years together with Kristoffersen and Noel. Edit: Also amazing to see Belgium having a world-class talent, would be amazing if he could do well at senior level.
  22. "The level has actually gone up to the point some hills struggle with the starting gates, some hills are already at Level 1 and can't be modified anymore." Yeah and the equipment surely has nothing to do with that ... The fact that guys like Kasai/Amann were/are able to compete well into their 50s/40s only allows one conclusion: The level has clearly decreased over the last couple of years.
  23. Germany on a roll! Heatcock in the semifinal together with 3 italian guys. 2nd event on the mens side and 2nd gold for Germany? Without knowing anything about those 4 guys i would say that there is roughly a 25 % chance.
  24. Of course right before the tournament started he was the favorite, but before the season started noone would have placed any bet on him. Back when Morgenstern/Schlierenzauer and so on were still active this guy would have been lucky to even make the 2nd round, but like i said many times before: The level has dramatically dropped, Austria is gone, Norway is gone, Slovenia is gone, Kasai is gone, Freund is gone ... nowadays you have a good shot at a podium if you can safely land 2 jumps in a row.
