dodge got a reaction from pdr4332 in Summer Olympic Games 2020 Broadcasters
They announced a line up of UK presenters yesterday and the press release said "every minute" ofaction would be available on the Eurosport App and Discovery Plus. "Europe wide" was mentioned quietly at the bottom so don't know if it applies completely yet

Maybe suggest moving the transgender talk out to a new thread and leave the qualification talk to this one?

I think it's the tension surrounding the question of the Irish weightlifting quota that has driven the debate on to a slightly less contentious issue. ?

dodge got a reaction from mpjmcevoy in Poll 67/100 | Who would be the dream flagbearer(s) for your nation at the Tokyo Olympics?
has gone with the following sports
Boxing - 2016, 2012, 1996, 1988
sailing - 2008
equestrian - 2004, 1984
athletics - 2000
swimming - 1992
The last rower was 1976 and we’ve never had a cyclist do it so my (impossible) dream team would be Sanita Puspure and Nicolas Roche for their years of service to Irish sport
I’d be fine with medalists from Rio Annalise Murphy and Paul O’Donovan doing it too

You probably have no idea how disgusting you sound. It doesn't change the fact that, indeed, you are hateful and this comment is outrageous.

I think that the rules about trans people competing should be adjusted specifically to each and every discipline. There are plenty of different factors that may affect the performance. And I dare to say, that in some events, ftm people could have some kind of advantage too.
Still, there is so little trans participants, that organisations just don't care about making those rules. It seems like IOC made that very vague overall rule sticked to only one factor (testosterone) without any further insight. I suppose they may thought that it won't be an issue in the next 15-20 years.
And right now it seems like Hubbard and other trans people fall atls the victims of the situation with all the hatred towards them. I feel kinda sorry for her.

dodge got a reaction from Oldira in Men's Rugby Sevens WR Final Olympic Games Qualification Tournament 2021
For those who don’t know the IRFU (Irish rugby federation) abandoned sevens for years. They put zero money into it and would not allow any of the professional players (those who play for the 4 provincial/professional teams) to play for the sevens team. In the top 2 tiers of international rugby, Ireland was the only one not to compete at the world sevens level
So for this group of players, many of whom have been on the sevens team for years, to overcome that is huge.

This is an absolute howler from USATF, rightly condemned, but Russiagate this isn't - it's the classic US terror of a court case - apparently Houlihan turned up with an order from a low divisional court which didn't understand the way sports admin works internationally. In attempting to bypass and frustrate CAS with a domestic court order, Houlihan is actually committing another offence. But I suspect she's past caring.

It may well do yeah. I think Kellie Harrington should medal but everyone else will be depending on a kind draw
With average luck (ie no freak winds or injuries etc) I’d expect 2 rowing medals and hope for more

Puspure will win Gold for sure...the only question is if she's gonna win it in Tokyo or a few years later, when Prakhantseva's samples will be re-analyzed...

Yeah Sanita is no longer the favourite for gold in my opinion. A lot has happened since her world championship victories in 2018 and 2019 and the Russian looks like she is the top favourite based on recent results. I think Sanita will improve on her form by the time Tokyo comes round but if she can win a medal I will be very happy with that. Would be exciting to see her back to her best though. Let’s see what can happen

No problem with the limits on countries and think the ranking is fine for bringing in other non-traditional countries
Personally, I'd try for 64 person fields with a straight knock out match play tournament (seeded)
