I agree, I think is favored to win group B (though that’s going to be very competitive). Winning group B would presumably mean playing in the QF. Very difficult match but not impossible.

Only 13 NOCs qualified in total, same as 2018 (if you count South Korea and the united Korean team as one NOC).
qualify in both men's and women's.
Very nice to see make it's debut in both men's and women's ice hockey at the same time. First time this has happened outside of hosts and ROC/OAR, which doesn't really count.

The mass start could be a lot less bad if they just removed the stupid point system.

with a big 1-0 win over and now group D is truly a mess.
Scenarios for tomorrow (I think this is accurate):
qualifies if they win or go to overtime against qualifies if they win in regulation and fails to beat in regulation qualifies if they beat by at least 5 goals qualifies if none of the above happens -

van der Poel picking up right where he left off with a dominant victory in the 5000m. Dutch surnames finishing 1-2-3-4-5 with Bloemen, Roest, Bergsma and Swings.

Mateusz Sochowicz suffered a bad and weird accident today while testing the track during the training week for next year's Olympics in Beijing. According to the first information, the athlete broke his leg and they had to take him to the hospital. According to the Polish media, the Polish athlete was injured due to a technical failure on the new Olympic track. The light at the start was green, but for some reason the entry gate he hit did not open. For the 25-year-old Pole, this could mean the end of the Olympic season,

I honestly think the number of unvaccinated athletes at the Olympics will be closer to zero than ten. The quarantine requirement is so harsh it just isn't practical.

Nothing needs laser shooting anyway. If there's shooting combined with running, make it so that a miss is actually penalized and we don't get a situation where everyone just scrambled to get a billion shots off as fast as possible, because a few of them will be hits anyway.

Hopefully this means Paris 2024 is the last time this sport is in the Olympics. Tradition is the only reason this sport even exists, you remove riding and you lose that.

“To be clear, the IIHF is not going to remove the Chinese team from the Olympic Games, the status of the men’s national team as a host nation participant in the Olympic ice hockey tournament was confirmed by Congress and remains unchanged.” said IIHF President Luc Tardif. “We are working with the CIHA to confirm their player eligibility according to IIHF rules, and we will continue to assist them as they work towards preparing their team for the Olympic Games.”

5 teams in the semi-final, you need to finish 3rd ou 4th to get to the B final and guarantee a top 8 (and be in a qualifying spot for the Olympics), you're battling for 3rd place but you have a comfortable lead to at least finish 4th. The team in 4th tries to overtake you in the last lap, what do you do :
- let go, you've ensured your qualification ;
- make a block, get DQed.
If you chose the second option then you're probably French
