  1. India has recently started to harbour ambitions of hosting the Olympics probably 2036 hence. Is IOC too firm on Jul-Aug window, so will this go against India's bid as its the monsoon season. Sporting events in India are typically held in Nov-Dec or Feb-Mar
  2. Sharath-Manika to face third seeds Lin-Cheng in first round.
  3. Not a fan of Sony Liv at all. Many shows and movies including some Olympic documentaries can't be viewed on TV app but only on desktop or mobile. Also it was hanging too much in yesterday's India-Sri Lanka match
  4. There is no controversy in tennis at all. Rohan Bopanna is just trying to make noise. Has he ever bothered to read the qualification document. Did they never know that Divij Sharan would have to improve his ranking significantly to have any chance of qualification. AITA did the right thing by trying to enter Sumit Nagal as Bopanna's doubles partner as qualification favours singles players
  5. For Mixed Doubles and Teams, Rank 1-8 are seeded and rest and unseeded. https://www.ittf.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Tokyo_2020_Table_Tennis_Sport_Specific_FINAL.pdf
  6. Yup 31 entries so far in Men's Doubles https://event.itftennis.com/media/319254/319254.pdf
  7. Sumit Nagal it is Can Rohan Bopanna still qualify with Sumit as partner. Not observing many withdrawals in doubles
  8. How good are Jourdan Delacruz and Beatriz Piron
  9. I think draws of all combat sports will be out after the weighing. Eagerly waiting for Table Tennis draw though
  10. Preparations at Olympic village https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/tokyo-olympics/daily-tests-cardboard-beds-24-hours-at-tokyos-olympic-village/articleshow/84366005.cms
  11. PM Modi will interact with Tokyo bound athletes at 5pm, 13 July. The event will be aired on DD News. The event can also be watched in below link https://pmevents.ncog.gov.in/
  12. Bhutan - 4 Archery - 1 Shooting - 1 Judo - 1 Swimming - 1 https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=351932166297734&set=a.199674024856883 Maldives - 4 Athletics - 1 Badminton - 1 Swimming - 2 https://www.facebook.com/OlympicMDV/photos/a.674699219247119/4391977684185902/
  13. I am one of those who never had trust in archery team. Deepika Kumari did take help from a sports psychologist. Don't know how much it has helped https://www.mykhel.com/more-sports/deepika-kumari-appoints-sports-psychologist-aims-medals-at-tokyo-olympics-065963.html?story=3
  14. Archery minimum is zero, never had hope on Deepika Kumari. Athletics minimum is also zero as even as top javelin throwers like Magnus Kirt and Andreas and Hofmann aren't participating there are many still good throwers. Boxing maximum can be increased to 3. Hockey too is a not sure-shot medal. Although Shooting a sport of fine margins, India can look to win many medals here. The World Cup in Croatia was just a blip hopefully.
  15. In Doubles, except for the Pan American, African and Oceania pairs, all of them are fairly competitive. But perhaps there should be 8 seeds instead of 4 to make all the groups fairly equal
  16. In all the doubles events there shall be a draw for the knockout matches. This is done because of the match fixing controversy in 2012
  17. Olympic Badminton Draw is out Men's Singles: Sai Praneeth is in Group D with Mark Caljouw and Misha Zilberman. The match against Caljouw is tricky but Praneeth should win. He is then expected to meet Ng Ka Long in the Round of 16 Women's Singles: PV Sindhu is in group I with Cheung Ngan Yi and Ksenia Polikarpova. Again the match is tricky but Sindhu should win. She is expected to meet Kim ga Eun in Round of 16 Men's Doubles: Perhaps the toughest draw as Satwik-Chirag pair are in Group A with Minions, World no 3 Lee Yang-Wang Chi and Sean Vendy-Ben Lane.
  18. Can you post early predictions of the quarter-finalists of all the events
  19. Bangladesh - Team Size 6 2 - Archery 1 - Athletics 1 - Shooting 2 - Swimming https://www.thedailystar.net/sports/more-sports/news/six-olympians-shoulder-nations-hopes-2124709
  20. Rio was unusually disastrous and controversy started even before the Olympics started - the Sushil Kumar vs Narsingh Yadav saga, Rohan Bopanna not wanting Leander Paes as his doubles partner and Dharambir Singh banned for 8 years. No major distracting news coming out except Covid related is a good sign of preparedness.
  21. 1. The two male swimmers Srihari Nataraj and Sajan Prakash who created history after becoming the first Indian swimmers to breach the 'A' qualifying mark and qualifying to the Olympics on merit. Another could be Pranati Nayak who qualified in Artistic Gymnastics on basis of bronze in 2019 Asian Championships as the Asian qualifiers were cancelled 2. Obviously table tennis men's team not qualifying. They were ranked 8th and 5th seeds going into the team qualification tournament but played below par. Also the women's team lost 2-3 to Romania which was a close encounter Srikanth Kidambi and Saina Nehwal in badminton Women's 4x400 m relay team. They were in top 16 till the very end of qualifying date but finished in 17th and just 0.02 seconds short Women's Archery team. Goofed up in both qualifying tournaments
