  1. We should target a contingent size of 135 in 2024 and 150 in 2028. That would mean more participation in potential sports like Swimming, Rowing, Weightlifting; while try 1-2 qualification in new sports like Fencing, Sailing and Cycling. Team sports qualification other than Hockey doesn't look likely in the near horizon
  2. With respect to Sailing, is it just one case or is it systematic. Because the Indian sailors in other events are quite good with likes of Nethra Kumanan, Harshita Tomar and Vishnu Saravanan.
  3. Why do you want no one to qualify? There was some infighting among the sailors with respect to participation in 49er FX https://www.newindianexpress.com/sport/other/2021/mar/23/varsha-puts-oly-dreams-on-hold-to-coach-sailor-2280276.html
  4. With the Indian Grand Prix and Federation Cup providing some qualifications and vital ranking, what competitions are athletes looking now especially the likes of Hima Das, Jinson Johnson, Vismaya, Men and women 4x400 m relay, Women 4x100 m relay (they are in 19th rank surprisingly) etc. Is everyone targeting the National Athletics Championship starting from 25 June, which is inside the qualifying period
  5. With Saina winning to move to quarterfinals and Ashwini-Sikki pair already there due to withdrawal they will improve their points tally and ranking. Saina will not face a seed until the semis so it's s golden opportunity yo earn points
  6. Interestingly Sathiyan had played against Rameez Muhammad in 2018 Commonwealth Games and won easily by 4-0 https://results.gc2018.com/en/table-tennis/results-men-s-singles-r32-001600-.htm
  7. 5 quotas for each Singles event and one quotas for Mixed Doubles.
  8. It's a mere formality I know, but in my opinion Sharath Kamal is taking too casually as mentioned in below article. https://www.sportskeeda.com/table-tennis/tokyo-olympics-sharath-kamal-confident-well
  9. Technically it isn't as a player named Rameez Muhammad is also participating, so it will be a round robin between 3 paddlers
  10. With Suthasini Suwettabut qualifying via World Singles Qualification Tournament, it also nearly confirms 2 quotas for India in Women's Singles. So unless if the other girl doesn't qualify from Southeast Asia, which is highly unlikely, India gets 2 quotas
  11. Muralist Sreeshankar qualifies in Long Jump https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/stories/news/detail/indian-athletics-tokyo-olympics-qualify-murali-sreeshankar-long-jump-fed-cup/
  12. Thanks for the info. I thought points were cumulative. Then can we see which 10 results are accounting for the points. Does Kidambi, Saina, Ashwini-Sikki pair, Satwik-Ashwini have realistic chances of qualifying. Satwik-Ashwini have just played 10 tournaments so if they have decent results they can climb the rankings
  13. Can anyone help me in understanding Badminton Rankings for Olympics. Those players who were eliminated in first round of Swiss Open didn't receive any ranking points and points in Week 10 (9 Mar 2021) is same as in Week 18 (28 April 2020)
  14. Can anyone help me in understanding Badminton Rankings for Olympics. Those players who were eliminated in first round of Swiss Open didn't receive any ranking points and points in Week 10 (9 Mar 2021) is same as in Week 18 (28 April 2020)
  15. I meant 2 overall per Singles event, either male or female. So since Canada already qualified 1 player for both genders then can only qualify 1 more per gender
  16. Any website to follow live scoring and watch live matches of the tournament. ITTF website isn't giving live updates
  17. A maximum of two players per NOC can qualify overall, so countries who already qualified 1 player can only qualify 1 more player
  18. Wikipedia says that Ankita Raina qualified in Women's Singles on basis of her bronze medal in 2018 Asian Games. The two finalists Wang Qiang (rank 35) and Zhang Shuai (rank 38) are already within Direct Qualification places, and hence won't need the ITF places. I read the qualification document which says "Continental Qualification – the following athletes will qualify for an ITF Place provided his/her ranking is within the top 300 on the Singles Rankings of 7 June 2021 and provided the quota for the athlete’s NOC has not already been filled via Direct Acceptance." Can anyone confirm this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification
  19. After humans, even horses have to be in quarantine https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/more-sports/others/after-covid-ehv-1-virus-now-disrupts-tokyo-bound-fouaad-mirzas-preparation/articleshow/81395535.cms
  20. Sad and shocking news that the Athletics coach was found dead in his room https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/more-sports/athletics/athletics-coach-nikolai-snesarev-found-dead-at-nis-patiala-hostel-room/articleshow/81352584.cms
  21. Women Trap team wins silver. India finishes World Cup with 1 silver and 1 bronze. Now over to The World Cup in New Delhi starting on 18th Match
  22. Huge win for mixed doubles pair of Satwik - Ashwini as they beat 2nd seeded Indonesian pair in first round of Swiss Open. As Swiss Open is counted in Olympic ranking points, this was a vital win. They need to finish better than atleast pair of Robin-Piek, pair of Giquel-Delrue and pair Lamsfuss-Herttrich who incidentally are seeded 6th, 7th and 8th. Fortunately for the Indian pair, Robin-Piek lost in the first round
  23. ISSF World Cup for Shotgun starts in Cairo today. Among the Indians all the prominent shoutgunners are participating including Olympic bound Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Angad Bajwa https://www.issf-sports.org/competitions/venue.ashx?cshipid=2990
  24. Can you provide list of tournaments which shall provide qualification ranking points in badminton
