  1. Also it’s only the SIXTH gold medal EVER for Portugal, so you have to understand how huge this is!!! I hope this guys get the f*cking president receiving him at the airport with all the honors they deserve!
  2. Such an historic gold for Portugal!!! first gold ever that is not in athletics. and iuri is the first one EVER from Portugal to win two medals in the same Olympics!!! so proud!!!!
  3. Portugal has a total of 31 medals in the whole 30 editions of Summer Olympic Games. I was able to witness the number 31 live. Wish I could go back in time just to say to my younger self, watching his first Olympics of Sydney 2000 and falling in love with the Olympic concept, that 24 years later the dream would become real! So yes, with no doubt, best Olympic Games ever!
  4. It is also interesting the evolution of track cycling in Portugal. The sport was pretty much inexistent until they decided to build a national velodrome about 15 years ago or so, and even though the result has not been incredible good (only iuri so far), there are now much more kids and youngsters cycling indoors than before I would hope such a medal on a country that has so few that we all know our medalist names (it’s not that difficult when it’s just two per year haha) will increase the interest in track cycling, but it’s difficult in a football-centered country: yesterday I checked Portuguese tv, they did showed the news but spent much of the night talking about possible transfers of Portuguese football clubs….
  5. Historical silver medal in track cycling for !!!! Giant Iuri!!! So proud of this guy! Honest question: when Benjamin Thomas fell and got back to the race, did he had to run extra laps to catch up with the rest or does the rules say that you come back and are automatically at the same place as the rest of the gang?
  6. In terms of sports, it has been good. But I give it a 10 because of being the games where I had the change to be there, and because this idea of organizing the events in the center of the city, specially in a place like Paris, was the greatest idea ever! The vibe there is awesome, you hear people cheering everywhere from some event happening somewhere nearby, the venues are incredible, and the fans zones are really nice. The organization, for the athletes, might not be that good (crappy Olympic village, mistakes with flags several times, the Seine river drama, etc), but for the public it is perfect, everything goes smoothly and there is help and directions everywhere. I frequently come to Paris for visiting (it’s a quick not expensive 3h train ride from NL) but from now on I will always look this city in a different way, it will always be the Olympic city
  7. Not really! There was a queue to enter , some food and traditional stuff . This park has several houses of different countries, is pretty awesome!
  8. I’m joking of course But I did found the house
  9. I found your team house @hckošice!!
  10. Oh and if you think "yeah but it's just a bronze medal...", remember that Portugal gets very few medals per games so any medal should (and is, by those who appreciate it) be celebrated as an historical moment. A curious fact about this one: the medal won by Patricia Sampaio resulted in Portugal to finally have more medals (29), in our entire history, than Michael Phelps (28 in total)
  11. For you to realise how much "football-dependent" is Portugal. It's so sad but so hard to change unfortunately....
  12. Giant Patricia!!! Portugal caralhoooooo
  13. Greetings from Paris! Barely any sleep and rainy typical Dutch day but well worth it . (Sorry for the bad quality video but could not upload it otherwise due to file size limitation ) IMG_3319.mov
  14. Les miserables followed by Marie Antoinette and Gojira and opera, that to me is the highlight of this ceremony, never I got so much wowed in so little time. In general it was quite an incredible ceremony. But now 6 hours of bus travel awaits me (sponsored by whoever were those terrorists that broke the French railways ) so see you tomorrow, hopefully from Paris
  15. That was a joke btw. Turkmenistan is a highly censured and closed country , pretty much North Korea but without the American hate. so no way any Olympics would be organized in such a place (I hope!)
  16. Fun fact: when I was in Turkmenistan this spring, the (clearly brainwashed) Turkmen guide that was with us told us that “all the megalomaniac sport infrastructure was built because they are going to organize the Olympics very soon” so get ready all to “Ashgabat 2036”
  17. Also, I don’t think this “out of stadium” idea should be something to be repeated. that being said, what the French did here has been, so far, pretty awesome!! Crazy, mad, all over the place, everything mixed (parade with musical acts), love it!
  18. I’m loving this special edition of Eurovision btw
  19. So this is the part that is gonna be blocked in all conservative countries? Can’t imagine any of this in any Islamic country for example
  20. I applaud this concept for the athletes from The Netherlands, as they will feel pretty much at home in a “canal” with all this rain. Gezellig!
  21. I wonder, will they say “Republic of Korea” when North Korea comes out?
  22. It’s their national yurt! I learned that this year when I went there
  23. You will also not believe it but it is not raining here in the Netherlands. What a miracle.
  24. Was just about to write this, i thought i miss heard but apparently not! Hahaha
